*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Please share with me where I made a prediction about Purdue's record because I don't think I did. I was extremely worried about the pass rush entering the season and it has proven to be true. Sure, I thought we'd beat EMU. But we didn't. That's football.

Never said you made a prediction. You did reject the notion that northwestern was average.

Nope. Didn't say that either. I made a weak troll about Michigan but said nothing about Northwestern.

I said Purdue lost to an average Northwestern team.

You replied "Purdue played Northwestern, not Michigan" implying that Michigan is average and Northwestern is not.

Now you are flailing. It's okay to be wrong, dude. Purdue sucks. Northwestern sucks. Accept it and move on.

They’re just bent out of shape because they’re known to be the worst fans around. Gotta take its toll on them after a while.

I'm just looking for one of them to drop a "Yeah, Purdue and Northwestern are both worse than I thought". Instead we get someone bragging about splitting a small golf tournament pot.

Dude, it was a joke. A weak one...but a joke nonetheless. I would have thought you smart enough to realize that. My bad.

Northwestern started 2-3 last year and got bitch slapped much worse by Duke and ended up finishing 10-3. I have no idea if they are any good (they certainly don't look it) but I would have said the same last year and been wrong as well.

I don't prognosticate because it's damn difficult to do when it comes to football. Shit, the Saints are losing 12-3 to the Browns at home in the 4th quarter.

It’s amusing. Purdue fans can no longer talk shit about their basketball or football programs so rather than going into chill mode they start trolling about drinking more beer and local golf scrambles.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a collective fan base more intent on shitposting and avoiding a simple “shit, we were way wrong”.
You avoid mirrors. Just a guess.

Hey! Doofus! I’m giving him credit for his basketball knowledge because...
a) He played HS basketball in Indiana.
b) He was recruited by major D1 schools
c) He played for one of the best basketball coaches in the history of the game
d) He coached at a mid major

If I was to pick between Parrish and Dakitch on the basis of understanding the game Dakitch is an easy pick. If I was to pick between you and a rotten fish on ability to use logic I’d easily got with RF.
So you're giving him credit for his intelligence based on nothing other than him being from Indiana. Got it. No one ever accused you if being smart. I'd probably actually think you might be Dakich if you were smart enough to spell his name correctly.

He's been absolutely mediocre or worse at everything he's done related to basketball. He's a joke in the industry, but I can't stop you from loving him. I guess you're proof that love isn't logical.

Amidst the numerous other Purdue fans calling Northwestern a solid team or bragging about them winning 10 games last year, it's hard to know who is being serious and isn't.

Lol..... 2 of those three losses were to Wisconsin and Penn State.

This year, they were projected as a mid tier team and have proceeded to:
1. Struggle with a bad Purdue team
2. Lose at home to Duke
3. Lose at home to Akron

I think it's time to accept that they just are a mid tier team (and that might be generous).

Well, considering the trainwreck that is the Big Ten West.....

Trying too hard...stop.

Well, it was bound to happen, but this thread has finally turned to shit. We've now delved into the arguments about Dan Dakich and about northwestern being good in football.

All we need now, is for someone to talk about Iowa getting one of these 5*'s their recruiting and then we've officially ran out of shit to talk about!

@otte21 any plays this weekend?

I made my first bets of the year today. Got off to a good start
Nah not yet, football is my least favorite thing to bet and I always feel like I need a couple of weeks not only for my personal eye test but also for some stats to accumulate and be able to break down match ups more effectively. It’s been strictly Draft Kings for me. Did well last week but had a pretty bad day today.

Coming off a 10 win season doesn't mean much this year. They win maybe 7 or 8 this year. Mid tier team. Losing at home to a mid tier team is a weird thing to be excited about, but go for it.

Never said I was excited about losing. But I am excited about what Jeff Brohm is going to do with this program. Guess we’ll have to see about NW too unless you have some kind of 6th sense that no one else has.

A (successful) gambling man should be able to see where I was coming from re: Northwestern.

How much money did you put on Akron this week? You’ve got some weird fetish with this whole NW thing. EVEN if I did claim NW to be some powerhouse this year (which I have clearly never done) it’s okay to be wrong sometimes Hail. Life moves on, there’s always another bet to make or stance to take.

Do you agree that it doesn’t take a 6th sense to predict how good some teams will be?

My 6th sense comment was about seeing the future, you were acting like the whole year had already played out already.

So you agree that there are reasons outside having a 6th sense to come up with the conclusion that a team isn’t good? Because that’s basically the whole concept behind sports betting. You don’t have to know the future or have a 6th sense to make educated statements or picks.

Well I tried to get the thread back to normal

Oh ffs man, you clearly are not getting what I’m saying/was saying.

I was saying that there was plenty of information avilaible to support NW not being an above average team. You acted like that wasn’t possible because I didn’t have a 6th sense. Anyone who gambles on sports should understand where I was coming from.

Again, reading comprehension is failing you my dude.

I told myself that as long as one Purdue slappy came back and acknowledged That NW isn’t good I’d drop it. 6 of you posted and yet here we are.
Well as someone that did not take a hard stance on NW football one way or another seeing as I dont follow their football program at all, you were right about NW as of week 3. Now please stop tagging me in these NW posts because I truly do not give a shiitt if they don’t win another game this season.

Your 6th sense comment was terrible. I didn’t realize you were a better. Betters should understand where I was coming from.
Again, you’re taking my 6th sense comment out of context like I’ve tried to explain. All I was implying was let’s let the season play out before claiming something as being absolute. Of course I try to make educated predictions, but I don’t claim something as right or wrong 3 months before the season plays out.
