I don’t even know why I pay attention to recruiting updates. I thought Furst was destined for Virginia or MSU the way it sounded. & it seemed Purdue was the favorite for Kaufman for some time right along with Xavier. I’ll obviously be thrilled to have either of them though.
I never thought Furst was that into Purdue, despite reporting that we were in a solid spot.

You really have to take it all with a massive grain of salt until the kid is ready to decide. That is when you know if the person feeding the details have had good intel.

Even then you get the surprises like Lander to IU that seemingly came out of nowhere.

yes would probably end things for Kaufman as they're wanting to play the same position. Probably focusing on Harrison Ingram who by all acounts had a great time this past weekend on his official. Would be an unreal class if we got both of them.

I personally have been higher on Kaufman than Furst. However, being a legit player for Ingram (who I thought was taking a token visit for the most part) changes things and makes me think Furst is a better fit. Ingram looks similar to Malik Hall in that 3 / stretch 4 mold, but not having great quickness, so I think he'd be a little redundant with Kaufman. Plus, if Furst is on board to play some 5, I think that's where he can be really, really good.

And speaking of Ingram, it sounds like that visit went very well.

I'm really pleased if this news turns out to be Furst (which it is). If we can somehow add Ingram, this would be massive back to back classes for Painter when you combine the fact that Newman + Gillis RS puts them in there as well.

Having Ivey/Morton followed by Furst/Ingram would be insane.

Don’t let boilerzz see you talking about potential commits.

So when Christopher commits that will put this class better than the Glenn Robinson III, McGary, Stauskas, LeVert, Albrecht class on paper.......... without Todd.

Are you really going to be that guy? This season is still ongoing and you are trumping guys who haven't even committed for future seasons. That's some Gil type shit.

Yep. Furst committing now would be a pretty big surprise. It's why following this stuff is fun.

maybe maybe not there are 2 games left. for everybody where anything can happen and usually does.

but still playing W/O 2 starters and having the 3rd leading scorer missing 6 games 4 of them losses.

before injuries Fredrick scored 21 points twice and 16 twice in which Iowa won the 2 where he scored 21 and lost the 2 when he scored 16. I like Iowa's chances in the NCAAT to finally get to the sweet 16 this season which makes any finish meaningless.

You are right. I'm not a big fan of talking about guys on a national board until they commit. But there's a big difference between mentioning that one might commit today and dropping some serious hyperbole like:

So when Christopher commits that will put this class better than the Glenn Robinson III, McGary, Stauskas, LeVert, Albrecht class on paper.......... without Todd.

They are way premature IMO in mentioning Ingram. Every recruit says nice things after a visit.

Hey @klize17, what's going on with football? I see Sampson James is in the transfer portal too now? Rough offseason at IU.

A couple coaching changes were due to happen, but Ballou and Rhea was a gut punch. I certainly do not blame any of the coaches that have left. OC moving to be a head coach and if Bama comes a calling Ballou has to take that job. It shows how really ****ing good that guy is/was.

I am hoping Sampson's decision is just being a little immature and hating the fact that Ballou left and he comes back. If not, though what can you do?

Certainly not the offseason you want after your best season in 30 years. We will find out pretty quick if Allen really is the guy to take control of this thing or if last year was just a flash in the pan type of a season. The team just needs 6 to keep the momentum in the right direction.

in the Self thread about the 3 Level 1 infractions, there are posters saying that Fran is cheating or somebody is going behind his back to steer players to Iowa by cheating

by 247 these are Iowa's 5 player commits ranking
Ulis is the highest @172 overall
Ogundele is 314 overall
Perkins is 326 overall
Keegan is 459 overall
Kris is 460 overall

bee if Fran is cheating or has someone going behind his back cheating, somebody is really screwing the pooch somewhere along the line. oh well anything to justify cheating with the
"WELL EVERYBODY CHEATS MANTRA"

the key to continued success will depend on who Allen hires to replace any coach that leaves,

as for any players that leave you have to look at who will replace them as schools loses players every year.

Doing my best Michigan fan impression:

with a backcourt of Morton, Ivey, Newman, Hunter Jr. & a front court of Ingram, Furst & Williams. I feel like Purdue will be national championship favorites in 2022.

copy cat here Iowa will be the National Championship favorite in the 20-21 season. with Garza and the rest of the starting lineup back and Jordan back, Nunge was just getting into the flow when he tore his ACL as he did this 14 points, 10 rebounds
Garza had 30 points and 10 rebounds
Nunge had 11 points, 7 rebounds
Garza had 29 points and 12 rebounds
before he got hurt.

when they were starting together,

this bodes well for the 20-21 season.

How is what I said hyperbole? Based on recruiting rankings on paper the class is higher ranked than that class. I’m not saying this class will turn out better, just that it would be ranked higher.

Why troll me and not realize boilerzz was being stupid by complaining about recruiting talk?

The only person I mentioned as a future commit who isn’t committed is Christopher. I’m saying that the class is already solid and when we get the expected Christopher commitment it’s going to be really good on paper.

You said it’d be an unreal class if you got those two recruits. I’m saying we’ll have a great class when we land Christopher. Big fvcking deal.

Purdue is obviously Indiana's rival outside of Illinois, but I'm happy to see indiana kids stay in Indiana. Michigan St, Ohio St, Michigan, Xavier, Kentucky, and Louisville have all had great seasons with big contributions from Indiana high school players. would love to see every top 200 kid go to one of the big 4.

Nahhh

Dayton is 11-2 in Quad 1/2 games. Michigan State is 12-9. I agree their schedule has been relatively soft, but they've been pretty convincing if you take their total body of work. Dayton is a very difficult team to guard. Toppin might be the best player in the country - and as a team, they shoot the ball very well. Their effective fg% is 59.7%, which leads the nation.

The Big Ten likely getting 10 teams into the dance. And Purdue at 15-14 is still on the bubble. I'd hardly call that being dinged. You have a higher margin for error because of the strength of the conference.

Not sure we're even on the bubble unless we win out the remainder of the regular season, unfortunately.

Let's talk about Caleb Furst. Solid pickup who fits well at Purdue culturally. I think he can be a valuable piece when he arrives.
