I’m not Painter either but for those who follow Purdue they would realize that Painter’s core offense might simply be referred to as “motion” but in fact it is a complex playbook utilized at Purdue and the idea that there isn’t a position for a primary ball handler and decision maker is simply not the case. Eastern plays the point role and at this point Thompson (who has been around the program before he hit high school) is the backup. As far as I can tell Newman was not recruited as a point guard but a wing scorer. It’s not a case that IT is better but that he is better suited to be on the ball. Personally I’d rather see older players who know the system playing the wing and a talent like Newman not waste a year. As someone rightly said it’s not rocket science.

We don't have a lot of information. If I were to guess, I'd say 20% chance he's back for Texas and 50/50 for Marquette.

I get it though. IU fans have nothing to brag about and this season looks to be more of the same. So, let’s brag about how our returning players made a third of their 3 point attempts. Seems if they were that good at shooting, perhaps IU wouldn’t have been in the bottom tier of the nation in shooting and might have actually won the NIT.
