*Official* B1G In-Season Thread

yup but he quit with one year on his contract. big difference between a coach who quits and a coach that gets fired,

He left before he got fired it’s actually a smart move. He tried to do the same at UCLA but he was going for too big of jobs this time around.

It’s amazing he won the conference tournament twice while having a 61-67 overall conference record.
and he only had 3 winning BT season while he was here. he should have been fired for that alone after taking over a team that was coming off a Sweet 16 and 9-0 NCAAT in 1st round games.

Dr. Tom reached the Elite 8, 2 Sweet 16's in addition to that 9-0 1st round NCAAT record

Great to see @dragonhawk1855 on TV

Meh...There's normally two reasons a coach "quits":

1. New job

2. Knows his ass is getting fired.

Which one fits Steve? Yeah, I know...He resigned from Iowa to take the job at New Mexico. But c'mon...Who leaves a Big 10 school, to go coach at New Mexico?

He knew what was coming...

Miller ran from Iowa to a down trodden Oregon
Lute ran from Iowa has fast as he could after his Sweet 16 finish
Alford ran from Iowa after the way he handled the Pierce Fiasco. mesides his 2nd to last season his team had 25 wins and got a #3 seed and lost in the 1st round to the #13 seed. and yet he did not get fired and the next season Iowa won 17 games.
talk about giving fans a reason wanting fired the Pierce Fiasco would get most coaches fired.

Miller went to Oregon State.. It was a good thing probably for Iowa. His best seasons at Oregon St, were vacated due to improper benefits.

Olson leaving was weird. Arizona was terrible. But according to Lute, he apparently felt bottled up at Iowa. So he left.

Iowa didn't fire Alford over the Pierce episode because the shenanigans around it came out after he left.

All is moot---I totally forgot we were talking about Iowa. So its not a surprise dudes left. I mean sheesh....A coach leaves for freaking Oregon State?? The other for a then awful Arizona, program???Then another for New Mexico.

Jesus...Laughing

and to Think that Dr. Tom was run off.

even today the posters on Hawkeye Report and Hawkeye Nation all they do is trash the players and coaches of both the BB and FB teams,,

sometimes I wish I knew how to be a hacker as I would crash both sites because of all the out right hatred on those 2 sites.

Very sad and feel for his family but is he the only young sports fan dealing with cancer?

Fortunately for him.....He's no longer dealing with it. He's at peace.

Dude.....just a very callous comment. Just wow.

Man.........Me to. I mean, WTF. EVen if you are not...keep it to yourself. Just bad.

To me, his post was basically telling me that I shouldn’t have posted what I posted because it discounts everyone else who is dealing with cancer which is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yep. I know he's a fellow Hoosier. But son of a bitch----I ain't defending that hot mess. Just a very insensitive post. Just, wow. I mean like, damn....

Never saw the young man do anything other than be sincere and act with class. And while he wasn’t the only person in the world suffering by any stretch he carried a banner for many of them who are in a similar spot. RIP Tyler.
Very, very well said. I mean, very well said.

Perhaps more schools will bring young fans with terminal illnesses to light and they too can live out their final days with a little bit of enjoyment as it appears Tyler has. For god sake some of you need help if you took my comments any other way.

You want to see something cool go check out Twitter. I think half the sports world is weighing in including some great things from the IU camp, OSU, Minny and others in the BIG.
TBH, its as if I, we, lost a loved one. Young man had that type of impact. Its certainly a sad day. I hope Purdue honors this young man.....WHich I am sure happens.
