Official #’s aren’t out yet. Louisville & Purdue’s offers were comparable $$$ wise. It’s been reported Purdue added $2mil/year to his contract.

What? How soon you forget the team that had Cody Zeller/Yogi/Jeremy Hollowell/Oladipo/Jordan HullsGreat recruiting leads to tournament success. Crean has never recruited at this level, and not close in the state of Indiana.
Let this sink in...
Archie took a team that lost 2 NBA starters and a 3rd professional player from a 10th place conference team, and helped them finish 6th the following year.
What? How soon you forget the team that had Cody Zeller/Yogi/Jeremy Hollowell/Oladipo/Jordan Hulls
My point was that he was still a top 50 player in-state when he committed. No one knows how these players will turn out. I was just pointing out that Crean got a lot of in-state guys at first too like Blackmon/Yogi/Zeller/Hollowell/Hulls/Elston, etc. I think Archie will do well, I really do so I’m bowing out of this pissing match to start drinking before some football.Hollowell is a major outlier in that group of players listed. Had a lot of talent it just never clicked for him at Indiana or Georgia State
Crean locked down the boarders until he was seen as a fraud, but he also missed on some top guys like Dawson, Teague and Harris.
Archie came in and got the first South Bend recruit since Nam and the first West Lafayette recruit since WWII. This year he will add Fort Wayne to the list.
He racked up the top in-state recruits last year and will get 3 of the top 4 this year including the top 2.
Also Guy, Wilkes, Blueitt, Scruggs, Irvin, Grob3, Mcgary, and Lyles. He wasn't ever recruiting Brooks, or Watford, and wouldn't have landed Romeo or Davis.Crean locked down the boarders until he was seen as a fraud, but he also missed on some top guys like Dawson, Teague and Harris.
That’s a giant leap perhaps you don’t want to recognize the similarities. Brohm is one game over .500 at Purdue and is top 10 in salary.
Also Guy, Wilkes, Blueitt, Scruggs, Irvin, Grob3, Mcgary, and Lyles.
Crean is one of the most overrated recruiters of all time. Even Mike Davis was recruiting 5*s to IU.
I was just highlighting your point, Crean was overrated as a recruiter. That's why we always had major weaknesses outside of a year or 2.That list was just using through 2012 which was the roster Otte was pointing at. The in-state misses after the Syracuse game speak for themself
I’m still wrapping my head around Brohm having the 8th highest salary in the country and he’s 1 game over .500, most likely will be under .500 at the end of next year. Gives me memories of Indiana over paying Tom Crean for pulling in Cody Zeller.
At this point it’s only a rumor that we vastly over paid Brohm to keep him from coaching his hometown team.
Oladipo wasnt an indiana player. Jordan hulls was a 3 star. What? How soon you forget the team that had Cody Zeller/Yogi/Jeremy Hollowell/Oladipo/Jordan Hulls
I know, you said he didn’t recruit at a high level or the state so I pointed out his recruits that were high level/in Indiana. Forgot to mention Watford and yes I know he was from Bama.Oladipo wasnt an indiana player. Jordan hulls was a 3 star.
Btw, that team was the best team in the country that year, which is why they got the #1 overall seed.
You realize nothing has come out about Brohm’s salary right? At this point, it’s only rumors that it’s a top 10 salary.
Even if the rumors are true and it is $6 million, who cares? It shows Purdue stepped up to the plate to keep a guy who brought their program back from the dead in only 2 years. A guy who has made Purdue nationally relevant. A guy who has helped attendance increase substantially in 2 short years. A guy who is on the verge of landing the best player in the state over the likes of OSU and PSU. The cost of losing him is far greater than overpaying him a few million extra per year. If IU had a coach do something similar, I’m guessing you’d hope they’d do what they could to keep him.

No, I said he didnt recruit at THIS high of a level (meaning what Archie is doing now). He got some great players from Indiana, but also missed on several. He never had two 5* players in one class. So far Archie is 6 for 7 in players that he has offered from the state of Indiana. The only "miss" was Newman, and that offer was pulled after Franklin committed (you're welcome).I know, you said he didn’t recruit at a high level or the state so I pointed out his recruits that were high level/in Indiana. You guys always bitch about lack of recruiting budget or assistant pay, but the University has enough to make Brohm the 8th highest paid coach in the country?Even if it’s true that it’s $6 million, who cares? The guy has resurrected the football program and the increased attendance can more than offset the increased payment to Brohm.
13-12 record makes you nationally relevant?
Purdue became a national story because the guy might leave

Your fanbase does all the time. When have I ever bitched about that? No idea what you’re talking about.
Purdue was already a national story last year and got even more publicity after the whole Tennessee ordeal. Brohm mentioned it helped him in recruiting. And yeah it was because he might leave but he didn’t. That still got Purdue’s name out there quite a bit and showed Purdue’s commitment to their football program.

It’s a given I follow sports stuff pretty well but I didn’t even know Tennessee tried to get Brohm.
That salary has been all speculation so far.I’m still wrapping my head around Brohm having the 8th highest salary in the country and he’s 1 game over .500, most likely will be under .500 at the end of next year. Gives me memories of Indiana over paying Tom Crean for pulling in Cody Zeller.
You seem to be forgetting context here. He’s 13-12 with a roster mostly comprised of Darrell Hazell recruits. He’s won a bowl game and beaten 3 ranked teams. He’s on the verge of landing a top 25 recruiting class. All of this after the worst 4 year stretch in our history. If Brohm had done this at IU the last few years, you guys would have a street already named after him.
I understand a raise but at some point you get bid up and once you sit down and get over the fact that you “won” you realized what you’ve done.
Seriously? It was pretty well publicized.
That salary has been all speculation so far.
I’ve heard from a couple of insiders that his first year is more likely to be between $5-5.5 Million with it ramping each year.
That’s still top 10 in the entire country.
More than the entire Indiana football staff for 3 more wins and a less star recruiting average.
Program being desperate + Brohm agent = Pay day
So if IU was in the same situation, do you let him leave?
Desperate? If anything, they’re desperate because they’re tired of being mediocre and want more. They want more than just a mediocre bowl win and they made the investment proving that.
Even if our recruiting rankings are similar this year, Brohm has gotten 3 more wins with an inferior roster to IU. Once he starts to continue to stockpile more classes like this, I think the potential is significant.
While we are talking about football, Michigan has some studs sitting out of their bowl game (Bush, Higdon, Gary). It's kind of annoying. I get why they do it, but it's still annoying as a fan..... especially when one is a team captain.
For the price, I'd rather have TA than Brohm. More resources for the basketball program which is where all of the focus should be.So if IU was in the same situation, do you let him leave?
