If I had a dollar for every reference you made to the Purdue free board I’d have enough to enjoy a nice evening out with the Mrs. Sure there are stupid things said on there but I could easily go find equally stupid things on the iu basketball/football board. Why do you care so much about what’s said on there?
You spend 10x as much time on IU boards as I spend on GBI’s free board. That’s not even up for debate.

Hey I can make up numbers too. You spend 20x more time on Purdue boards than I spend on IU’s board. There’s zero debate.

Did Purdue have any NBA bigs score tonight or more than 2 points any time recently?

Nope sure did not. Amazing what Purdue achieved in comparison to that IU team that didnt make the tournament that has 2 players in the league (OG and Bryant) to go along with Blackmon, Robert Johnson, and Juwaun Morgan isn’t it?

Lulz. You actually trying to deny my claim? Be honest. I haven’t posted on GBI for several years. You posted on Rivals religiously until you, I believe, were banned. Pretty sure you visit the other IU site as welll (HSN).

That got us Archie. I would call that amazing.

How long do you think he’ll last at UGA?

The guy isn’t horrendous like Alford, so I thnk he is in a perfect spot. SEC football school. If he makes the tournament 3/5 years he is golden. If he wins a game or two in any of those add a year.

Tom is as insecure as they come, Indiana ate him alive that won’t happen with Georgia basketball.

I mean he isn’t wrong...people on our board continue to say “I wish we had Wilkes”

If Indiana had Wilkes Crean would still be the coach. I’m never trading Kris Wilkes for Tom Crean.

And it isn’t like Purdue made a final four or won a title. They achieved the same things that Crean did with other Indiana teams.

I just think it’s funny it’s somehow already considered “amazing” when thus far he’s won 60% of his games and hasn’t made the tournament yet. I know he will and I really do think he’ll be good but may be putting the cart before the horse on some of this stuff.

Look in the mirror.

Purdue is paying Jeff Brohm 6 million dollars for a 13-12 record.

Not sure how that is lazy?
Other than comparing a football coach at a program who just fired their previous coach for being the worst power-5 conference team in the nation besides maybe Illinois and Kansas at a school with mid-level history/resources in the big ten.

To a basketball program who just fired their head coach for having a ceiling of a sweet 16 while being wildly inconsistent year to year but did have the number 1 team in the entire country at one point. The most talent rich state (or at least 2nd to Texas) for a blue blood program with top of the line expectations/resources in the big ten and country.

Other than that your comparison is spot-on.

The comparison was more about how a new coach who recruits well and does something very well (Archie is defense Brohm is offense) can excite the fanbase.

Obviously still have conference to go but Archie sitting at 11-2 in his second season with a 2-0 start in conference with getting Romeo, Phinisee, Anderson, Franklin, TJD and soon to be Brooks gives the fan base a reason to be excited.

You’re the one bringing up winning percentage and lack of tournament success when he has had 1 season and half seasons at the helm.

That’s a giant leap perhaps you don’t want to recognize the similarities. Brohm is one game over .500 at Purdue and is top 10 in salary.

Fair point, and I think the excitement is justified. Im not trying to temper your expectations or anything. Just pointing out that the last coach had the fan base really excited at one point too but until Archie reaches the elite 8, I don’t think it can be considered “amazing” yet.

He did at Dayton. Shit he might this year...I know this he will continue to give IU the opportunity year in and out where the previous coach had an oppourtunity once every couple of years.

I can point to about 1,000 things Brohm has done that his predecessor didn’t even sniff. What has Archie done that his predecessor didn’t to this point?

Let’s see, pulled in Romeo after recruiting him for one year. Recruiting the entire state in general, teaches defense, reached out to and made an impact on the high school coaches in the state. Has one of the top assistant staffs in the country. He has a set scheduled practice. How many times do you see a new
coach come in and there’s only 1 transfer from the previous staffs players, and that’s cause he was awful. I’m astonished you can’t see past your personal bias honesty, I didn’t peg you for such a homer.

My main point was that the last guy got crucified because of the lack of tournament success and until Archie does that, it’s all kind of moot. (Not my opinion but the Indiana fan base’s.) but maybe I’m wrong in that.

Lack of tournament success was what ultimately caused it but everything else is what lead to that. Just like a dish is judged when it’s done, but Crean was shopping for ingredients at the 7-11 and using a microwave, Archie’s approach has been vastly different in every way.

Great recruiting leads to tournament success. Crean has never recruited at this level, and not close in the state of Indiana.

Let this sink in...

Archie took a team that lost 2 NBA starters and a 3rd professional player from a 10th place conference team, and helped them finish 6th the following year.
