They also don’t drop teams an entire seed line from a loss in the conference tourney anyways, unless it’s a nightmare loss. Because Wisconsin is almost certainly playing a top 50 net team in their big ten tourney game, it’s going to be a quad 1 loss if / when they lose.

My point is that Davis’s health should take priority over wanting to go far in the BTT in an effort to avoid seeding drops, which wouldn’t occur anyways.
A loss to #89 Maryland wouldn't be good.

As for Murray's defense, he does not have a true center, so ends up guarding outside his position and I am pretty sure he is told not to foul, because we need him on the floor

His defense will be just fine in the NBA. He is athletic as fvck.

He is not a bad defender, he is on a bad defensive team. Per 40 his blocks and steals are pretty good. He also is usually put on other teams top scorers. Unlike some on the defensive lists going against future insurance salesman.

This is including the 330th ranked noncon. He’s objectively good at letting people score on him.

He guards spot up shooters predominately (48% of the time), and he allows them to shoot very well.

If you want to sit down and watch a game and go through his plays lets do it. He gets marked negatively because of his inferior teammates. Guys lose their man, Murray has to switch over to an open shooter and walla.

Yeah, he’s often a last line of defense when the play is already broken down.

Not saying he’s the best defender, but he certainly didn’t stand out as a guy to attack relentlessly either.

Who hasn't the committee not screwed ever (Besides Duke :p )?

If prior to the last two seasons you hadn't been in the tournament since 1991 you can't get screwed. We are putting it to the test this year. I guess that means we're screwed. F--k NET.

Murray isn't even close to his ceiling. Kid doesn't even try and dominates, even on a worse team where he doesn't have a 7' 8" guy taking double and triple teams all game...

I grew up with and am very good friends with Brian Geltzeiler (hoopscritic.com, has a show on SiriusXM). We actually were talking about Murray today. He likes him a bunch.

One, the word you’re looking for is voila.

Two, the people that do these stats literally do exactly what you just said you want to do with me, and they get paid to do it. These aren’t stats looking at him guarding another guy’s man in rotation.

Surprised you didn't give him an option of donating to a charity of your choice to help out some people. Would certainly be more productive in this world than having him not post like he did for @pig1960. Not sure if you have it in you or not.
If it was me I’d give him a pass - seems like after the meltdown he chilled out on this board. Not up to me. Rivals needs the traffic anyway.

I don't think winning it matters as much as playing on Sunday. It's basically been said before our championship game is meaningless for the most part. Wish they'd move the tourney up a day but I know the B1G idiots drool over that lead in slot to the selection show.
Definitely a money over logic thing here. Illini/OSU BTT title last year was far and away the most viewed game of the season. IIRC, the “regular” viewership was like 4.2 million and it peaked over 6 million during OT. Big Ten is all about the $$$.

Just my opinion, could see the Committee giving Wisconsin more leniency for a loss not playing Davis then playing with him not 100 percent and losing.
If they’re considering that, then Illinois is golden! We have had our whole team for like 25% of the year! 😂

For real, though, Kofi was gone for a couple losses, hope it’s considered selfishly.

Maybe if you didn't trip over your dicks all year and would've met expectations you wouldn't have shared the title w/ a team projected to be 10th.
Your best player missed 2.5 games, and you went 1-2 with a loss to Nebraska and barely scraped by Nicholls St. Imagine if your coach actually had to deal with the injury and sickness issues Illinois faced.

The analytics says otherwise. Although you could argue the turnovers lead to more possessions which doesn't help your defense, but in the end your defense is your Achilles heel.
TOs are a big issue for us, especially live ball TOs, for a couple reasons. It takes away a shot by the most efficient offense in the country, and compounds that loss by giving the opponent a chance to score even more easily against a below average defense. The FT shooting is arguably just as problematic given how close all our losses have been, and how many points we've left at the line.

Defense is definitely a glaring issue, no doubt about that, I just think that if we take care of the ball, rebound, and shoot 80% on our FTs, we will outscore most teams. Elite eight and higher, they'll need to be much better on offense to win, or hope the opponent has a poor shooting night.

Shhh, that's been our secret the last 20+ years. Can’t let that get out.

Hey, we only really tripped against Maryland … and we’re their bitch, so…
Speaking of “tripped”, any information on the Wisconsin player that tripped over his own feet, took 5 steps, then fell down and hurt himself?? Hope he’s ok, tough way to go out, getting hurt while playing out of control.
