Agree, Michigan should be a lock even if they lose to Indiana.

B1G is the only conference that plays 20 games… Why do that when it hurts seeding for the tourney?

All other conferences are only playing 18, thus there top teams lose less games and that’s why they are ranked higher.

Exactly, and that shit does matter. Especially with the high seeds and where the games are played. At this point, outside of the winner of the Big 10, I don't see anyone moving up and only the potential to move down.

Turnovers are one thing but that defense is even bad by Iowa standards.
If you watch games, it really hasn’t been that bad. Especially down the stretch of the season. Half court defense has been solid. Look at our game last Tuesday. We held you guys down a bit down the stretch to claw back in that game. Got beat on two bad shots. Wasn’t bad defense tho. We turn the ball over in bunches at the worst possible times and that kills us in transition. Teams get easy buckets on us which leads to the shitty metrics.

The analytics says otherwise. Although you could argue the turnovers lead to more possessions which doesn't help your defense, but in the end your defense is your Achilles heel.
I mean I get everyone is latching onto the KenPom defensive rating narrative like it tells the whole story, but just watch the games. It’s the turnovers that kill Purdue. Matt painter has said the same thing in regards to wanting to fix defensive issues vs. TO’s. He chose TO’s without hesitation.

If Illinois, Purdue or Wisconsin win the BTT they’ll get a 2 seed. Iowa and Rutgers could both move up if they win a game or 2.

Other than that I think most are locked in.

Unfortunate that our conference is run by a clown who is either actively sabotaging shit or just incompetent.

I don't think we had an abundance of easy transition baskets against you. The defense is a big problem for a deep run. Our 2015 wasn't great on defense but they were better than this years Purdue team.

I don't think winning it matters as much as playing on Sunday. It's basically been said before our championship game is meaningless for the most part. Wish they'd move the tourney up a day but I know the B1G idiots drool over that lead in slot to the selection show.

Scheduling, officating, amount of conference games, etc....it's a joke.

No wonder we haven't had a NC in forever.

20 games is a lot of slugging it out for B1G teams. I'd be ok with going back to 18.

Yeah, the seeding is basically set before we even tip off. So stupid.

I have a hard time imagining the committee putting the winner of the BTT as a 3 seed, while the loser gets a 2 seed.

Why even play the game if the bracket is done?

Most years it's not two teams fighting for the same seed. This year it seems like there's a bunch of teams fighting for that 2 and 3 seed.

It really depends on who makes it to Sunday. If it's Michigan and Wisconsin, who cares, bracket is done. If it's Illinois and UW/Purdue they might keep two spots open. Winner gets one, loser the other but often times a one game result doesn't determine that either. It's the entire body of work, not the last game.

Murray is the best total player. And will justify it being the highest picked Big10 player in the NBA draft.
Murray is an 11th percentile defender. I like him in the NBA as much as the next guy, but he was not close to the best total player. He was the best offensive player, and an objectively bad defender.

Are you posting his FG%?

Because going to the hole, he is the best in the league. But his 3 point shooting is not very good.

At least in big games and moments.

I think all of PUs struggles go away if he starts shooting well from beyond the 3 point line.
That is his 3P%.

Iowa - tops 6, worst a 7. I don't see us climbing to a 5 without winning the Big 10, and that isn't likely. And I don't see us in the 8/9 line, even if we lose Thursday.

I think we are locked in at 7

Tell me you don't know how the NBA draft works without telling me you don't know how the NBA draft works.

They are all a little raw, but Murray is more NBA ready, and I think Ivey has more upside

I think Purdue, Wisconsin, and Illinois all have similar enough resumes that the committee will put the winner as a 2.

If someone other than those 3 win the BTT they will undoubtedly move up in seed

I know we've played and/or won on Sunday and it didn't seem to do shit. Maybe that has me jaded about the whole thing. I'm just mentally preparing for us to be a 5 seed this year.

We don't want to win?
If he’s not fully healthy, there’s no chance I would play him. Winning the BTT won’t change wisco’s seeding all that much, if at all. I’d rather just give him some extra rest to ensure he’s fully healthy for the tourney. If he tweaks his leg further Friday, I’d be super pissed

He could lose game shape, speed, and timing, sitting for two weeks.

I would play him as well

I think Murray is a 10 year vet with the ability to produce like Luol Deng. I’m not sure that’s the best comparison, but I’m not interested in looking harder.

I'd rather not lose friday and drop to a 4 seed though.

That’s not what happens when teams lose in the conference tourneys. The committee is not going to give a shit if Wisconsin takes a quad one loss in the BTT, especially if Davis doesn’t play.

Just my opinion, could see the Committee giving Wisconsin more leniency for a loss not playing Davis then playing with him not 100 percent and losing.

Having been screwed over by the committee numerous times I just wouldn't want to chance it.

They also don’t drop teams an entire seed line from a loss in the conference tourney anyways, unless it’s a nightmare loss. Because Wisconsin is almost certainly playing a top 50 net team in their big ten tourney game, it’s going to be a quad 1 loss if / when they lose.

My point is that Davis’s health should take priority over wanting to go far in the BTT in an effort to avoid seeding drops, which wouldn’t occur anyways.

He is not a bad defender, he is on a bad defensive team. Per 40 his blocks and steals are pretty good. He also is usually put on other teams top scorers. Unlike some on the defensive lists going against future insurance salesman.
