****Official B1G Off-Season Thread****

The B1G home/away and double plays are out. Pretty level as far as double plays IMO among the contenders. Maybe a small advantage for Illinois. I think Purdue gets a break by hosting Illinois, MSU and Michigan and not having to make a return trip to those schools.

Controversial to be sure.

Personally, I like it...let him come back as a walk on...he can still make NIL bank.

He is slow and has short arms, but to me ha always played the way we expect a Hoosier to play.
Played harder against Purdue than anyone on the IU roster

I don't think it should be. The amount of effort his type of play is something this program has missed for a long time.
Some don’t like the whole 5-6 year thing and some still upset about what he said about some fans. But he got 117% out of his abilities which is more than we could say for the majority of the roster or staff.

Beyond cool to see Gillis, Morton, and Edey back with the squad.

People want big names, more stars, spend more money. Most of our fanbase couldn't name one player in the title game. Our fanbase is mostly basketball illiterates. Losing makes people crazy and desperate. Give DeVries his time, I like the type of players he's bringing in. Just need a little more size but he seems to like athletic 6-8 types to play in the post, mostly for defense and guys who can still run and shoot but I think we'll be missing a defensive big to bang in the B1G.

Watching big name players with big price tags fail should wise some folks up to other options.

The fan base is not as sophisticated from a basketball standpoint as it was 10 or 20 years ago, but still above most. The 90 degree shift to shooter-heavy recruiting will be a culture shock for many.

We still need a backup big and his five fouls but the roster thus far is very interesting.

That is pretty cool but not the sport you would expect to succeed in WL.
I think it affirms the importance of coaches, particularly in non-revenue sports. Certainly doesn't hurt to have two Pete Dye designed world class golf courses too.

I would agree. Kampen is a nice course, have not played the other one in a long time. The state has a surprising number of excellent courses, most who never lived there don't believe it because most of it is so flat. Have you played Pfau yet? Quite a beast especially when the rough and Heather are up for league or other championship play. Smyers designed the adjustable play aspects brilliantly.
