I haven’t seen the money numbers but if he has success he isn’t staying in Lincoln.
I don't know what's down the road for CBB with the FBI. If I were Fred, I'd be thinking that Nebraska will pay him if he wins. They have the support/resources and they really should outshine Creighton in that market. I believe that the Big Ten is mostly clean when it comes to this FBI stuff (though I don't know - I do know that if Iowa is cheating we're not very good at cheating). He can be Nebrasketball's Dan Gable (got an opportunity at a former rival school and made them great). It's annoying to think about.

the difference in the Wrestling teams is that Iowa is known for producing top wrestling prospects, Nebbraska BB not so much just like Iowa until the last couple years.

the Warden takes players that are kicked off teams because of legal issues,

the only player Fran took was a player that was a JUCO Graduate and was 3 years removed from being in jail, the Admins at the U of Iowa had to sign off on Fran actually to be allowed to even recruit him.

his JUCO coach called Fran and asked him to just give him a chance, that is the difference he was a JUCO Graduate transfer that left in good standing.

Purdue fans----Does this tourney run by Carsen, seal the deal for him(NBA)? Or was he gone regardless?

BTW----Great season.

Can’t think his stock would be much higher after the tourney run. He’s never going to be a first round guaranteed type guy. He could go first round late, but it’s not a guarantee IMO. He’ll definitely get drafted, my guess is it’s second round though.

I’d be extremely surprised if he stays.
Don’t think there’s really much he can do to significantly increase his draft position. If that was the last game in person I got to see Carsen Edwards play then he went out with everything he had. Dude was unreal tonight. Numbers were nearly identical to the Nova game which is hard to fathom.

I’m worried ****** is going to ask for an undeserved raise now. I wanna say we pay him 2.8 million but I could be wrong.
What's your feelings on Turgeon after this year? Imo he had the worst possible season this year for a fan. In reality, he did enough to keep his job, but not enough for you to be excited about him being the coach.

As a Cincinnati Bengals fan, its basically what I've dealt with while Marvin Lewis was the coach.

Sup y'all? Just got caught up on this thread. It seems some of you have been here a while. I was hoping to avoid it for another week but alas, not to be.

Looking forward to another interesting offseason. First thing for Purdue obviously is to get confirmation that Carsen is leaving for the NBA. Most of us assume it is now a foregone conclusion. I could see Haarms putting his name in just to get information but it would be like Nojel last year where no one really expected him to go.

Beyond that, it's time to see what the grad transfer market looks like. Assuming Carsen is gone, I think Purdue could use a shooting guard and/or a stretch 4. I'm looking forward to seeing Newman and Gillis in Purdue uniforms but I'm not sure I want to go into next season with the assumption that both would have to play heavy minutes. Newman probably will (I think he's that good) but Gillis sat out this year with injury so that makes me a bit nervous about his freshman season.

He looked good about half way through B1G play. We were doing well with a really young team. The problem is our teams never seem to never get better at the end of the year. We seem to plateau. He needs to hire a guy to run just the offense.

I agree with most of this. There's zero point in even thinking about your offseason until you get confirmation that he's going to the NBA. If something crazy happens and he comes back, next year expectations will be sky high for you all. However, if he does like most expect and does leave, I think most "experts " will expect a doen year for you all.

I'm not certain about who you all lose to graduation, but I seriously could see a possibility where you all might be better next year if he doesn't come back. He had a phenomenal tournament, but he takes so many bad shots. If those shots aren't falling at a high rate, it really puts the team in a tough spot. I know most will probably think it's crazy to think you might be better without him, but so many possessions were lost to really bad shots.

been a post on HR about Iowa's OOC schedule to date
Cincinnati in Chicago
ACC/BT projection VT
BE/BT projection Xavier
Las Vegas Tourney TT, Creighton and SDSTU
@ ISU
that is 6 games vs top competition with 2 games against teams the Las Vegas committee select for Iowa to play, this leaves just 3 teams for Iowa to schedule.

Fran has already stated that the rest of the teams will be a upgrade over past teams,

anybody else hearing how their schedules are coming

I’m of the opinion that even if Purdue is better next season, it won’t be because Carsen isn’t there. He draws so much attention from opposing defenses that it opens everything else for other players. Now obviously if he goes full bad like he did @IU going 4-25 from the field or whatever then yeah you have a point lol but the attention he draws from defenses/how well he moves without the ball will certainly be missed.

How does it feel knowing that no matter if you had a roster of strictly 5* players, it's not going to matter? Until Fran learns how to teach defense for the whole year, each season will end up being a disappointment.

This is how it was with Crean, and it sucked! Every single year, there would be stretches where the offense looked unguardable. Which then would lead to inflated unrealistic expectations for that team. Then like clockwork, every single season ended up being a disappointment because they couldn't stop a high school team.

Until Fran changes his philosophy....which is unlikely....guaranteeing that Iowa will end up having a collapse is like guaranteeing that the sun is going to rise tomorrow morning.
