Hausers update. It sounds like they are done to MSU if a certain player who averages 0 points a game loses his academic eligibility due to grades.

If said player doesn’t and nobody else unexpected leaves we are probably rolling into the season with an open spot and no hausers.

I’m sure MSU wouldn’t hide or promote any kind of shitty rapey activity.

TBH, I think you'll have multiple guys contribute big throughout the year. Meaning, you won't have one or two guys average 18 ppg or anything, but you'll have multiple guys capable of putting up 20 plus on any given night. So one night Wheeler will carry the team and the next Newman or Haarms might. I'm guessing it's way more balanced. But I can get on board with an 8 seed type. Think that's fair.

EDIT: Also think it's a bit too early to start the whole Bo Ryan comparison. You've had two All American type guys in Swanigan and Edwards over the last four years. If you keep getting guys to that level, then sure, but I don't see anyone on the roster close to that level right now.
Don’t really disagree with anything here. Part of my faith in Painter’s trajectory is how he’s able to adjust to the talent he has and find the style that fits that team, and his focus on skill and fit which has just improved his ability to build rosters. But understand the hesitation and it probably is early.

Yeah he’s a PG essentially because he brings it up and gets us into sets/motion, similar to what Octeus did a couple years ago and even PJ. The value we get out of him is that he can guard 1-4 and he gets us extra possessions and garbage buckets just by being so much bigger than the guy guarding him. But I’m not sure he works at the 1 if we don’t have a combo alongside him, which we pretty much always will.

What do you anticipate the guard lineup being next season?

Hunter starting but playingoff ball? Newman ?

Dude we have people from the attorney generals office monitoring all their departments right now making sure nothing falls thru the cracks while we expand our reporting departments.

Is @B-Westy one of the least informed posters on the board? His takes are only worsted by the 60+ year old who has had a stroke.
Your roster is a mess and poorly constructed. Congrats on Romeo & TJD I guess, but turning their nose up at guys like Ivey is just funny to me when you surround that 5-star talent with players that simply don’t fit.

We’ve had one season with a 5 star guy. One class that Archie actually recruited. I’ve never even heard of Ivey. You think IU would do better by recruiting lesser known and lower ranked guys? Look I understand justifying and explaining guys you take but at least make a reasonable stance. You sounds like dumbo the majority of the time.

Just feels like most of the guys IU turns their nose up at, end up going to Purdue/Butler/ND and then they proceed to lose games against those very players.

Not saying you specifically. Just think that’s the general feel in regards to IU recruiting in recent years. I definitely think that’s a reason why Crean/Archie have had trouble fielding competent teams.

Going for the the “talent” & “stars” over systematic & cultural fit.

As 1987 said, we'll likely get a grad transfer, so it's tough to project. My early guess at the starting lineup would be Eastern, Hunter, Sasha, Wheeler, Haarms.

Lot of people project Newman to start -- and it wouldn't surprise me, as he's gonna be good -- but Painter values the substance shooters and I think it may be hard to keep Sasha out. And if you look at like the last 5 B1G champs, they've had that substance shooter out there for big minutes.

Archie hasn’t lost to Butler or ND and IU is 4-1 against those two the last 5 years.

Not Toast, but I’d say itll look like this:
1-Eastern/Thompson. Think IT will take over Hunter’s role of being the back up PG.
2/3: Hunter/Sasha will get the first crack of starting with Newman filling in minutes for both of them. I’d assume they’ll get a guard grad transfer that will also get some work off the bench.

If Hunter or Sasha struggle it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Newman starting by year’s end. I think he’s physically ready & skilled enough. I can see Sasha’s game being better off the bench another season.

Crossroads classic records

IU 5-3
Purdue 2-6

Who is losing to Butler and Notre Dame?

But I get your point and don’t disagree

I understand what you’re saying but Archie has been there two years. The guys you’re talking about exceed in their junior and senior years.

Miller has had ONE class, Westy. As for recruiting talent and stars---I mean what was he supposed to do----Not recruit Romeo , TJD or Brooks? Lets give it more than one class before coming to a conclusion of, he cannot build teams.

You realize Painter recruited almost everyone Archie has landed with the exception of Forrester and Race Thompson, right?

Painter offered and recruited Romeo, Jerome Hunter, Phinisee, Andersen, TJD, and Franklin. This contradicts your argument that these guys don't fit a certain system or culture.

if you can't shoot, that's an issue. There are exceptions and Nojel has turned into a good player without one, but if you're shooting as poorly as Galloway, it's not a good sign if you want to play in the Big Ten imo

Agree, and especially true for Purdue/Painter. Besides eastern, the recent highly rated non-shooters have all transferred out IIRC. Scott, smotherman, RJ, etc. was really hoping Galloway went elsewhere, even though he has a great offer list and is highly ranked

Ok then. Go ahead and explain why it’s poorly constructed.

No dog in this fight, but ranking-wise this is a down year for Indiana recruits. Only one top 100.

Yep not as strong as the last few years. I could see Ivey making a jump into the top 100 with a good showing on the AAU circuit.

A bunch of guards who can’t shoot with a bevy 6-7/6-8 forwards who can’t shoot either. Lack of ball handling & play making as well.
This was about what I expected. Think this warrants all the shit you get. What a terrible take. Very MJ18 like.

Side note. Our returning guards have similar percentages on more makes than your guards.

Just so we're clear are you including the class of Durham, Justin Smith, and Clifton Moore?

He just confusing, if he's going to troll he might not want to make himself look stupid in the process. He wants Archie to get more guys like Ivey apparently, guys that go through the system and succeed their junior/senior years. Archie's only had one class he's recruited and has actually played, he's only coached two years, how is he going to fault the guy for not getting 4 year guys to develop when he's only coached 2 years and recruited and developed 1 class?

Hey Blaire, a bunch of guards who can't shoot? Consider the information below.

Green: 48 made on 117 attempts for 41%
Durham: 40 made on 115 attempts for 35%
Phinisee: 27 made on 87 attempts for 31%
Total: 115 made on 319 attempts for 36%

Wheeler: 31 made on 85 attempts for 36%
Stefanovic: 25 made on 61 attempts for 41%
Hunter: 10 made on 46 attempts for 22%
Total: 66 made on 192 attempts for 34%

What's that say about Purdue's guards? They can't shoot either? Well, obviously not considering Eastern since we know he can't shoot.

Yeah, it's tough for Blaire to not make himself look stupid. I mean, he's pretty good at it.

Yeah, it's tough to draw conclusions on Archie from a recruiting perspective as yet. He simply hasn't got enough of his guys in there and on the court yet.

That said, I do believe, even considering the injuries, he has underperformed his talent each of the first two seasons. Giving the rumblings from IU fans, I'd wager many agree. It's still too early to condemn the man but early returns are so-so.

Eh, I think I agree we under achieved this year a bit. However, it's tough to gauge how much of an impact all of the injuries actually had on the team. Hell, Romeo played all year with a thumb issue. That itself likely had some sort of impact however small or big. I'm good giving him to year four. If we don't see real results in year four, then I think I'm gonna start questioning Archie.

But so far, I like the guys he's brining in. Phinisee, Romeo, TJD, Hunter, Franklin, Thompson. Those guys are solid four year players (excluding Romeo TJD maybe three). If he can just keep bringing in guys like he has, we're gonna be just fine with Archie.

Not in the mood to get in this pure domination of a dumb poster

but If Phinisee can increase like Durham did from Freshman to Sophomore and Durham improves like Green did from sophomore to junior year add in Damezi doing more than nothing. I will feel much less concerned about the outside shooting.

No. I should have just said best shooters who for IU happens to be all guards. Wheeler is one of Purdue's best returning 3pt shooters and is a forward. Regardless, point still stands though. If he thinks our guards can't shoot, would he think the same about Purdue's best returning shooters?
