First, I was trolling Deathclutch, and he responded. I liked his response even.

Second Purdue lost to Nevada and was destroyed by TCU and Vanderbilt. IU might as well schedule Bama and Clemson to lose badly but get that strength of schedule up for you.

Like Klize said, Indiana isn't winning any championships, getting to a bowl is the name of the game. If IU can beat Northwestern and Purdue, that's an 8 win season and those 8 wins would all count just like Purdue's 8 losses.

I especially enjoy the downplaying of conference opponents because of injury when IU has also been without their starting QB and lost a senior left tackle early, plus others. 6 wins potentially looking at 8 with a roster of 70% freshman and sophomore. I will take that all day.

seem to recall telling Indiana fans to be patient with Allen, he has his program headed in the right direction, in the 20 class the best recruit is 5.9 WR Williams, so far they have 14 commits.

the state of Indiana does produce a number of top FBS players [P5] winning and a stable coaching staff and the better players will stay in state.

Actually, we destroyed Vandy. You can dog us if you want, but get your facts straight.

Yup. We haven't bitched about injuries in football. We've had several as you pointed out. I'm happy to let them bitch about our 6-8 wins all while they're sitting at 8 losses. Would make me smile, actually.

I watched this version the other night. It’s so bad it’s good.

If they don’t would you start to lose your patience or no?

Probably not. I don’t want to go back to the Hope/Hazell eras where apathy was at all-time highs. Purdue has never recruited this well over multiple classes unless you count some of Tiller’s classes where we took some questionable guys like Kyle Williams.

You continue to bring this up. Would you rather be 6-2 or 2-6? Neither IU or Purdue or battling for a playoff spot anytime soon or ever. Who cares where the wins come from.

Also Do you realize how bad Nevada is? They are ****ing dreadful.

IU understands it’s place in the college football landscape. The most important thing is getting to a bowl. Maybe Purdue should stop acting like something they are not

Let me dissect if I may:

You continue to bring this up.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking this is maybe the 2nd time I've mentioned IU football all fall. Hell, when IU football is mentioned on our home board, I rarely respond. I only responded there because Snu was being Snu.

Would you rather be 6-2 or 2-6?

That's a stupid question.

Who cares where the wins come from.

It does matter. Purdue got a lot more mileage out of the Ohio State win last year than the other 5 wins combined.

Also Do you realize how bad Nevada is? They are ****ing dreadful.

I believe I mentioned that we shouldn't have lost to them in my post, did I not?

On this front, I agree to an extent. I think Brohm is too aggressive in trying to schedule 11 P5 programs every year. That's way too extreme with where Purdue currently stands among the college football landscape. That said, I don't think P5 programs should have absurdly weak non-conference schedules either. First, it doesn't prepare you for the rigors of Big Ten football. Second, I think you risk getting into a situation like Minnesota was under Glen Mason. IIRC, he scheduled ridiculously easy non-conference schedules and frequently eeked out enough conference wins to barely qualify for a bowl and was subsequently fired. I personally think all Big Ten programs should be required to schedule at least one P5 program and shouldn't be allowed to schedule FCS schools.

Absolutely. I thought Purdue would be better but I absolutely stated that Purdue’s margin of error was thin and they couldn’t afford to lose key players to injury. I never thought Purdue would be without 5 of its top 6 players for nearly the entire season. We still never should have lost at Nevada tho.

Candidly, I didn’t put much thought to IU but I certainly didn’t see them bowl eligible yet. Of course it’s been done on the backs of 3 comically bad non-conference opponents and 3 Big Ten teams that are a combined 3-12 with 2 of them being absent their starting QBs when you played them.

As opposed to how impressive the two teams Purdue has beat are.

I don’t think Purdue would have 6 win seasons with Indiana’s schedule

With the injuries they’ve had, it’d be hard to tell. I think it’s likely they’d have 5 wins though. 3 non-conference games, Rutgers, and Maryland. Nebraska would’ve been a toss-up but I’d err on the side of a loss.

If you’re trashing indiana’s wins over shitty teams then do the same for Purdue.

Hard to tell. We only have one common opponent. We beat Maryland 40-14 at home and IU beat them 34-28 on the road. At Nebraska is the only one of their 5 I wouldn't be confident enough to bet. We play them tomorrow but it sounds like Martinez is back so I have no idea how our game will go.

Agree to disagree. Especially in an era where more than 50% of all teams play in bowls. No one pays attention to 3/4 of the bowls being played.

At least I hope no one paid attention to the Music City Bowl!

Yes, we will have to agree to disagree.

To your point above about scheduling. The B1G wants as many teams as possible to go bowling so they can get that money. Why would they force teams to play better competition? No FCS teams I guess sure, but otherwise The teams should be able to schedule whoever they want.

The Big Ten actually loses money after expenses on some of the lower bowl games. For example, the payout was only $750K for Minnesota's Quick Lane Bowl appearance and their expenses were higher than that. The Armed Forces Bowl is just a $900K payout. The higher level bowls are a windfall but past the first 7-8, there's not much value to the conference financially.

Then tell Purdue fans to stop bringing up bowl records
