An interesting article on our home site posted the top 10 impact freshman this coming season. Below are their names, rankings and team.

1. Trayce Jackson-Davis, 29, Indiana
2. DJ Carton, 33, Ohio State
3. Rocket Watts, 38, Michigan State
4. Kofi Cockburn, 44, Illinois
5. Frans Wagner, 111, Michigan
6. Robbie Beran, 107, Northwestern
7. EJ Liddell, 42, Ohio State
8. Pat McCaffery, 84, Iowa (sucks huge donkey balls)
9. Makhi Mitchell, 67, Maryland
10. Cole Bajema, 109, Michigan

Thought it was pretty fair. Discuss?

List order is trash

Patrick will not have a big impact as he is the backup to Wieskamp, PG Toussaint in my opinion will have the biggest impact for Iowa in the 19-20 season.

We have always recruited at the highest level in the b1g when it comes to national recruiting. Beilein could have been in on this many national kids too, he just was impatient and unwilling to suck up to prospects and their families/coaches.
There are two main reasons that you were included and one of them was the relationship. The other is Michigan's recruiting returning to form.

Yeah I agree with this. I think he could average 8 and 5 and still be the biggest impact freshman -- his addition is that important from a roster standpoint. With that said I can't pretend to know a ton about all of those guys.

Regarding zone: the fact that Underwood is exploring options is a good thing. I just feel strongly that continuing to foul at that rate creates a razor thin margin of error for a team.
Yeah, I'm in wait and see mode on his defense. It depends heavily on having athletes with length at certain positions. We should have the roster make up this year to show whether it will ever work.

There were stretches last season that they were figuring it out, and we won some games. I don't know that Cockburn is mobile enough to play it without tweaks. We'll see.

I’d be surprised if Wagner didn’t end up as a top 5 freshman in the conference. I’d be surprised if Bajema did. The minutes will be there for the taking as the 2 and 3 are wide open.

Sounds like sour grapes. You really think juwan is already letting boosters go crazy within his first few months on the job when we’ve been the cleanest program in the country under beilein?

Howard knows he has to win now after taking over for Beilein so yeah he pulling out all the stops, hey it worked for him as a player so why not as a coach.

Well considering that most schools are doing it in some form and the NCAA doesn’t do shit about it, I say

I loved coach B and the way he ran things, but our recruiting was always boring asf. I was cool with it because he developed his kids, but it’ll be fun to follow recruiting again with us landing 5 stars. Still would take beileins results all day, but we haven’t had a McDonald’s all American since Daniel Horton (class of 2001). Juwan will probably land one in his first year

I don’t think he’s cheating in any form. However, I wouldn’t give af if he is because the NCAA is useless. Their incompetence as an organization is one of the primary factors in coach beilein leaving. He did things “the right way” and it proved to be an impossible task

I’ll never understand this take. You’d rather have recruiting be fun to follow than actual results? & it’s not like Beilein was bringing in a bunch of scrubs.

One of the worst takes of all time on here and that is saying a lot

They all know Howard will be a massive bust

Didn’t I say I’d take Beilens results any day and acknowledge beileins developmental ability?

Work on your reading comprehension. You’re hearing what you want to hear and drawing an illogical conclusion from what I wrote.

Work on your reading comprehension. Beileins gone and I can only lament his departure for so long.
You phrased it as if this new way in recruiting is a relief from what Beilein was doing. And good one on the reading comprehension comment, that’s the first time I’ve ever read that on a message board.

Foh with this bullshit. If painter left for the NBA tomorrow (luckily for you no nba team will ever want him), you’d be trying to find any silver lining you could for your next coach. Yet you want to sit here and bash Michigan fans for trying to remain optimistic during our coaching transition? This is a shitty take by you and you’ve been posting too long to take on a typical troll stance like this

I don’t think juwan will have coach bs success, but frankly nobody saw JB becoming the monumental success that he became either. I’m letting this play out. If juwan can recruit better athletes then I suppose that may be a reason for optimism even if I doubt he’ll be able to develop players at the same rate or have a team even close to being as fundamentally sound as coach Bs

I’m only quoting this post because its your most recent one, but take it from somebody whose team had a HOF coach who didn’t like recruiting and then went out and got a big time recruiter for their next head coach. Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener.

The whole NCAA being worthless is spot on though, and I completely understand if thats what drove Beilein to the NBA. I’m convinced the AAU bullshit and Gary’s hatred of recruiting made him retire earlier than some of his peers.

Yeah, you can't make the 15-man roster if you sign a two-way contract. The max you can spend with the NBA squad is 45 days. The rest is spent in the G-League.
The team can always upgrade a player to a full time contract if a spot opens up

Jon Heyman is a huge bitch.

Bump I want to drive up to New York and punch this ***git. He continue to take potshots and then blocks Orioles fans for calling him out on his ***gitry. Really hope he eats buckshot for breakfast soon.

Also IDGAF about using the term, it’s 2am. Let’s just ignore the 8 pages of bullshit back and forth.

I’ve never liked him or Buster Olney.

Trust me, I know the grass will more than likely never be greener. From an X&Os standpoint, Beilein was the best coach we’ve had in our programs history and possibly the best we’ll ever have. I know exactly how hard he’ll be to replace

..Yes? From a reliable source that would know. And sour grapes? Why? He was a home run swing from us from the beginning, and we have a very good idea of the two PGs that we'll be getting in 2020 already.

Don't be naive.

Just read in The Athletic that former IU guard Jordan Hulls is having a great overseas career (he is 29YO) playing in the top German league. As an avowed hater of all things IU I will make an exception here- really happy for him and his family. I always thought he was a bit under appreciated as s player in college partly due to playing at IU in the dark days post Sampson. Good job Jordan!

To make it even better, Sheehey is now playing on the same team as Jordy.

never had heard of this option. just heard of the 10 day option. that Uthoff had with Dallas Mavericks then ended up finishing the season with them, unless this is something new that was just started.

no complaints here,

Iowa will show its colors right off the bat. playing Creighton then maybe TT ISU and Cincinnati. go 4-0 thru that stretch then they will be a top 25 team.
