6th is about what I’m feeling...plenty of time for roster changes.

Thats my middle ground. They could finish worse and although understandable it'd be very disappointing, they could also finish better but we shall see what happens with the rest of the roster.

Just from a team perspective as a whole.
Haarms/Trevion down low is a great combo to have. Especially if Trevion can get in better shape this offseason. Love his post moves and passing ability. &it sounds like Dowuona is going to be a really nice player too but he’s in a log jam at the 5 right now. He’s a physical specimen if you saw him on the sidelines this season.

I think Wheeler is a budding star at the 4 position. I knew he was athletic coming into the year but I didn’t realize just how good of a shooter he was going to be.

& in the back court there’s a nice combo of athleticism and shooting ability between Nojel/Sasha/Newman/IT/Hunter

It sounds like Gillis is going to be fully cleared by June but whether he’s ready to contribute by this season is a major wild card. If he is, great. He appears to be a really versatile forward in the mold of a Vince Edwards type. If not, then I’d like to see Purdue add another forward to be the back up 4 this upcoming season.

My whole point was there’s a lot of hoping there. Lots of unproven guys who will be relied upon. I could see TJD and Davis being just as effective as Haarms/Williams. I dont expect either duo to be the focal point of the offense or anything, but solid all around. I dont see much at the guard spot for you guys that’s above and beyond what IU’s got. Eastern still won’t have be a threat from deep, still be a great defender and get garbage points. Hunter and Newman should be solid but I dont see any advantage over Phinese, Franklin and Durham. Wheeler, I think, could be the best offensive player of the two teams. He could be the difference. But, overall, I really dont see much of a difference between the two teams and certainly not enough to put PU 3rd and IU 9th.

My probably way to early conference standing predictions for next year:

1. Michigan
2. MSU
3. OSU
4. Purdue
5. Maryland
6. Indiana
7. Wisconsin
8. Illinois
9. Rutgers
10. Nebraska
11. Iowa
12. Minnesota
13. Northwestern
14. PSU
you hate Iowa that much, or are you that stupid? people like you said that last for last seasons team yet they finished 6th. as of now Iowa returns all 5 starters and 7 of their top 9. Cook has not said a word about what he is going to do.

just some idiot media people trying to make out like they know what Cook is going to do,

just like the reports about the Arkansas plane landing in Iowa to talk to Fran when in fact they were into talk to Forbes who was in Iowa for his Fathers funeral.

with Cook 4th thru 6th. W/O 6th thru 9th. may finish higher if these improved while RS'ing. 7'0 RSSO Nunge and 6'8 RSJR Pemsl, to fit into the rotation.

I'm assuming Cook is gone and actually thought Bohanan was a SR. I'll probably bump Iowa up regardless but even more if Cook comes back.

I think it’ll boil down to which team shoots better. And based off recent history, I think I’ll side with Purdue even after losing Cline and Edwards. IU was beyond underwhelming last year shooting the ball from 3.

Carsen officially gone per his Instagram. Best of luck to an all-time great Boiler.

Interesting note that I'm sure applies to a few guys that have left early. Carsen had 1920 total pts, 863pts his Junior year, 693pts away from from Calbert's all time record.

Oh yeah. He would’ve easily been Purdue’s all time leading scorer if he came back.

Better coach & better shooters. I’ll roll with Purdue until IU can show me they can shoot from deep.

He would have easily been the Big Ten's all time leading scorer if he came back. Cheaney currently owns the record.

This is actually good for Purdue that he's committing to staying in the draft now. Painter can go into the silly season knowing how his roster looks and pursue the grad transfers and/or high school players armed with this knowledge.

I bet that’s right. However, I dont think you can draw any real conclusions about how good or not Purdue will shoot considering Carsen and Cline made like 80% of your 3pt shots last year. Kind of my whole point. Lots of unproven players/unknowns.

Yup. Carsen and Cline were better shooters. Not clear who’s better between the returning players for IU and PU.

All time B1G leading scorer.

Yep. I don’t blame him leaving though. When you average 35 a game in the tournament, you strike while the iron is hot haha. Hoping he can sneak into the first round.

IU made the NIT. Purdue made the elite 8 and won the Big Ten. They both lost their top 2 players (I think Cline is Purdue’s second best).

Purdue will be better than IU still next season.

Not only that but he is what he is at his point. The tournament definitely pushed him over the edge if he was still there.!

as for Cook if he returns or not the option in Pemsl out ways the loss of Cook
17-18 stats for Pemsl
16.4 mpg 5.7 ppg T-5th, 3rd in rebounding with 144 total and 107 defensive, 45 TO's 7 steals 10 blocks shooting 56.5% from the field led the team. range to 15'
Cook 82 TO's 21 steals and 20 blocks shooting 56.6% from the field range to 5'.
Cook 18-19 stats 92 T/O's 24 steals and 18 blocks shooting 51% from the field

yes they will miss Cook's athletic ability but they won't miss his T'O's or limited range. right now its a matter at looking at the trade offs.

athletic ability vs cutting down on the T/O's. that's how I look at the possible loss of Cook

or Garza could slide to the 4 while Nunge starts at the 5.
Cook avg'd 31 mpg
Garza 23.6 mpg 13.1 ppg 2nd on the team, 144 total rebounds 3rd on the team 42 T/O's 10 steals and 17 blocks 3rd on the team
shooting 53.1% from the field 80.4% from the FTL and 29.2% from 3 on 21 of 72.

Yeah, not that simple.

With his tourney performance, I think he definitely could get into the 1st round. Big time stage, big time performances. He’s smart for leaving. Would have been hard to improve off of that.

Its too early to put Michigan there. You will find out soon enough. Top 3 is more realistic, with a chance at 1 or 2 if certain players develop and the offense improves (which is a question mark)

I think Quinones would fill a big hole for us. Hopefully he’ll have a good time during Little 500. At the same time, hoping Archie is selling him on the need for a player like him.
