My probably way to early conference standing predictions for next year:

1. Michigan
2. MSU
3. OSU
4. Purdue
5. Maryland
6. Indiana
7. Wisconsin
8. Illinois
9. Rutgers
10. Nebraska
11. Iowa
12. Minnesota
13. Northwestern
14. PSU

Rutgers has everyone coming back. Even if Ayo is gone. 10-14 is that bad.
Well, I figured Ayo is gone since you put Illinois at 8.
They probably would contend for a top 4 spot if he stayed.
And I have a feeling Rutgers is gonna do better than finishing 9th in the league.

Maybe but it’s early. 9th is pretty good for Rutgers. Illinois in top 4 is a bit of a stretch. 3-9 will have some fun battles as always. Ahhh here do you see Wisconsin? They lose a lot.

If Indiana finishes 10 Archie’s ass will be gone and I just don’t think that happens

I don't know if theyll be 10th, but I still see a lot of issues with the roster / talent.

Need big steps up from quite a few players after losing Langford and Morgan. I doubt TJD will produce at the level of Morgan, and not sure who fills Langfords role / production.

Phinesee and Smith should be improved. Durham is decent.

What are you thinking for next year?

I really don’t see that roster finishing in the top half of the Big Ten. Maybe they should be ahead of Rutgers, but I’d definitely take Iowa over them.

If they finish 7th or higher I’d be quite surprised.

With their roster I really would say a ceiling of 5th.

Phinissee/green
Durham/Franklin
Smith?/Hunter (healthy?)
TJD/Damezi/Race
Davis/Brunk?

If hunter isn’t healthy I would think they would have to go with a 3 guard lineup to get some spacing out there. I think they should be a solid defensive team but when it comes to the offense...

Yeah I guess. 5th would be quite surprising to me.

I’ll reassess my rankings. That roster is better than Rutgers. Didn’t realize they truly on lost Langford and Morgan, and bring everyone else back.

Phinisee, Green, Durham, TJD, Brunk/Davis.

Maybe Hunter or Smith.

The offense works just fine when players are hitting opening shots so the structure is there.

I expect at least one more GT besides Brunk that can shoot and at least one more recruit who will be a guard.

Don’t see Purdue third. I think Illinois will be higher, too. I’m holding my list until we know who’s gone and any additional players through transfer or recruitment.

Honest question here. Assuming Edwards and Romeo are gone, is there really that big of a gap between Purdue’s roster and IU’s? I dont see either challenging for the B10 championship. I see both average B10 teams. I think Purdue may have a higher ceiling though.

My thing with Indiana is I don’t foresee them losing 12 of 13 again. Durham will play the 2 where he should be. Add in Brunk and no more having a 6’7 5. Still waiting for rosters to shake out as they’ll be vastly different come October. Any thing worse than 6-7th will make Archie’s seat pretty warm.

He is unhappy and hasnt been on the same page as Beilein at times. Didnt like how he was coached. Perhaps got jealous of the attention Iggy and simpson got. Or Iggy getting plays called for him in crunch time. Poole needs to mature for sure. Sounds like a parting of the ways is coming if he doesnt accept the advice of his teammates and coaches to stick it out. His family is also really upset at the criticism he has received on social media. So he will prob just stay in the draft and hope he gets picked late.

Bottom line: he wants out of Ann Arbor if a change of heart doesnt happen.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. He seemed a little off down the stretch or at least when I watched at times.

Are you expecting much from Brunk? I haven’t seen him play but his stats don’t jump out at me.

I like Purdue’s roster a lot better from the offensive side of things.

I agree just depends on how guys transition from watching Edwards and Cline. I can see anywhere from 3-6th for Purdue.

What do your guys think? Ours thinks its a Maryland-Memphis race, but UM could swoop in and steal him. They didn’t think IU really had a chance, but that probably means you’ll land him.

An official can always change things.
