*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

The funniest part about it all is Gil is the bigot that keeps calling Marylands black players thugs. Gils funny, but hes a huge hypocrit.
never specified the players by color. I only see green. or doesn't Turg recruit White Players?

no I am talking about a Hawkeye site where they trash every white player on the roster and keep saying the only way Iowa be elite is if they get these players
Carton
Locure
both of which are black
and they say that Bohannon is not a PG, the only thing I see wrong with Bohannon is he is WHITE.
they keep trashing Fran for not getting Ulis and a couple other Black PG's.

to date Bohannon has 312 assists for his career and only needs 32 more to move into Iowa's top 10 in assists, Bohannon already is in Iowa's top 10 in made 3's.

Bohannon also holds the record for DBL DBL's in points and assists with 7.

if that's not a PG then they have a serious problem.

MSU gets 2 wins and 1 over Purdue. Teams behind them and ahead lose, yet they move down to a three seed. What the hell
Your non-con is just so weak though. That stretch where you played Southern Utah, Oakland, Houston Baptist, Long Beach St., Cleveland St., Savannah St. hurt your SOS more than Duke, UNC, or ND being down. Add North Florida (289) & Stony Brook (239) to that list and that just isn't a great non-con.

Purdue fans were feeling like this too when we were a 4 last year and won the Big Ten by 2 damn games. (Not saying Purdue should've been a 1 or a 2, but I thought we should've been a 3)

I do agree the 4 seed was a crap seed

I get that, and agree with you, but in ESPN’s bracketology, we moved down from 2 to 3 with 2 wins, 1 over Purdue, and a ton of other teams lost. That is the thing that makes no sense to me

I’m not surprised at Purdue being 1 but I can’t wrap by head around you being worse than Kansas. That makes no sense.

Who is the most disappointing played this season? It’s gotta be somebody on Minny or NW, because both had high expectations and have been bad. Maybe Bryant McIntosh

Lindsey and McIntosh obviously. For Minny, tough to lay the blame on any of their guys considering what's transpired.

Jackson from Maryland vastly under-performed before his injury. I expected more out of Trice for Wisky before his injury but it's not like he had much hype.

Agreed. A lot of rumors of disconnect between McIntosh and teammates. They couldn't handle the pressure of being a top 20 team.

Or the previous year when Indiana won the B1G by two games and was a freaking 5 seed that drew and underseeded UK team as a 4. I think the teams in the conference need to get together and schedule for rpi. The B1G has been criminally underseeded the past few years. No way Wisconsin was an 8 or 9 last year.

Yep conference RPI has been in the dumpster.

The only explanation can be the weak non-con schedule. Which isn't a good sign because there's nothing MSU can do about that over the next four weeks. But if they win out and make the BTT final, I have to imagine they'll land on the two-seed line.

Yeah for as much credit as Izzo gets every year for scheduling the big non conference matchups, he also has a tendency to schedule the worst of the worst when comes to the scrub teams. Playing a stretch against Houston Baptist, Oakland, Long Beach State, Cleveland State, and Savannah State is a SOS killer.

Combine that with a really down B1G, UNC and ND not being as good as they should've been, and only getting one shot at Purdue, Michigan, OSU....no bueno.

Crean was just as bad.

Its ridiculous and kind of sad, but I am glad that Fred Glass put in a bonus for Archie if he only schedules one sub 300 RPI team. This past season his hands were tied since Crean didn't create a schedule until July, but going forward I don't think you will see many truly awful cupcakes on IUs schedule.

Technically, this is the first bracket released by the committee so it's not moving down necessarily.

I agree you deserved better than a 3 but after having listened to the committee chairman talk to Andy Katz, it is readily apparent that they are focusing less on losses than they are on quality wins (RPI quadrant 1 and 2) and results away from home. He kept quoting those numbers when talking about teams.

MSU is thin on quadrant 1 wins (only 3-2) and has just 8 quadrant 1 + 2 wins (Kansas for example has 14). Also, MSU's best road win to date is at Maryland (their only RPI 100 road win).

Again, I'm not saying I agree with the committee. I'm just trying to illustrate what I believe to be their mindset. I'm a big RPI hater but it appears they are still relying on it but at least have tweaked the groupings to adjust for road/neutral results.

What sucks for Sparty is the B1G is so bad that you are going to have to beat Purdue and OSU in the BTT to improve those metrics at all.

What sucks is that we have so many 250+. Replace those with just 150-200 and our RPI skyrockets. We’d still win, just against slightly better teams.

Past ten days, MSU goes undefeated and beats Purdue, yet we move down in latest bracketology. How

Kinda crazy that MSU and Purdue each only have a double-play against one team in the top eight of the current conference standings. Same actually goes for Nebraska as well.

In a league with so few chances for quality wins, those three have even fewer than normal.

Double-play matchups versus top-8 teams
Purdue: Michigan
Michigan State: Indiana
Ohio State: Michigan, Penn State, Indiana
Michigan: Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern
Nebraska: Penn State

dont see the issue in UVA moving to #1 but it is bizarre.

I think Virginia ultimately deserves a better ranking than MSU but I don't remember the last time I saw a team move up to #1 coming off a home loss, especially when the team right behind them beat the #3 team that same day. Weird stuff.

Heres a protip for the people complaining about the AP Poll:

Its meaningless and comprised of know nothing media slapjacks who follow weird rules weighing recent results heavily when ranking teams rather than just going from best to 25th best.

Rather than waste your time and energy fretting about that poll, just blindly sort by KenPom and Sagarin and youll be fine.
