*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

Indiana thanks there still a blue blood Purdue things they got a national championship coach. 13 years and hasn't been past the sweet 16 and it's been 30 years since Indiana's won a national title take out the lucky run in 2002 and they haven't done anything since 87 neither has Purdue

Drunk posting I hope because the grammar and hot takes are god awful.

The similarities between Josh Newkirk this season and Ronnie Johnson during his Purdue stint and then RoJos IU career and Terone Johnsons career are kinda creepy.

Newkirk looks the part but just all around sucks, lacks any semblence of basketball IQ, makes boneheaded turnovers in crucial spots, and cant shoot - so basically Ronnie Johnsons entire career at Purdue.

RoJo was great early in his IU career when he wasnt counted on to be the man and was surrounded by good players but just isnt up to snuff when counted on to be the man as a senior amd is wildly inconsistent both defensively and shooting the ball - sounds somewhat similar to Terones Purdue career.

And then you have Juwan Morgan who is being saddled by their ineptness but is still good anyways (kinda similar to AJ Hammons).

Not perfect comparisons by any means but best I could think of
I'm not sure I'd ever impugn the integrity of a player - even an IU player - by comparing them to the human cancer that Ronnie Johnson was.

I can see the RoJo-Terone comparison from the perspective that they were both excellent complimentary pieces and struggled a bit as lead players; however, Terone was just so limited offensively, that I think RoJo should probably get more criticism for how he started this year. He has all the tools to be an effective lead guard, even if that isn't a role to which he is best suited.

any medical people on here as I would like to know what this is planter fasceia, as Bohannon has been dealing with this for a year.

Not a doctor but know people who have dealt with it. I have had some battles with foot pain myself. It sucks.

The first half from Rojo last night

18 minutes played....
0 points
0 assists
0 rebounds
0 turnovers
0 fouls

That just can not happen. Kid has some talent but just absolutely disappears when he is the main focus. I mean damn at least foul someone or turn the ball over.

He reminds me of Finke on Illinois. He is a solid piece, but you can't ask him to be anything more than what he is. It's frustrating as hell when you see him get hot. You can see flashes, but once you need him to be more than that auxiliary piece, he fails.

Me tinks you can't spell thsinks... amongst other thinks.

I know that Minnesota isn't very good and they were short handed, but hey, a win is ALWAYS better than a loss. Saw some more baby step improvements from the team today

This is the first time I've caught your post before your alter egos liked it.

Don't forget your Creighton account, too.

I think its a heel issue.
Plantar faciitis is tearing of micro muscles that connect heel to ball of foot, - produces incredible soreness on bottom of foot. Takes forever to heal - for weekend warriors - can be helped immediately by buying new shoes.

I have had to place frozen water bottles under foot and gently roll back and forth for hours - if Iowa PG has it - it just robs you of speed and quickness. Bad deal.

Those are probably nitewing's other accounts and he secretly likes me. Who gives a flying **** how many likes you get on a post?

Huskers could go 6-0 to finish big ten regular season and actually drop in the RPI lol

However, the committee said its going to rely less on RPI and use more metrics rankings to get a better picture.

KenPom has Nebraska ranked in the mid 50s and RPI as them mid 60s.

5-1 to finish regular season puts NU right there. 6-0 and they are in, but they aren;t likely got go 6-0.

Terone once scored like 36 or something against one of the top 10 Michigan schools. He would get hot as hell and look amazing at times as well but lacked consistency like RoJo has going from Minnesota and Purdue types of game to last night types of games.

I will say, RoJo seems like a superior player to Terone from what I recall but theyre more similar than different imo.

An 18 trillion in the first half? Impressive.

Btw, Pedo State @ #MeToo State tonight. Hopefully they both lose and cease athletics altogether immediately following the game.

At least pedo st should cease to exist...........msu will take its lumps too.......does not help that nassar worked there.......too bad...I like Izzo.

Purdue due for an off game....too bad we do not have the bodies to take advantage of it.

Purdue looks like they have caught a perfect storm in young talent and seniors leading them....def wish them luck in March.

Can you provide a single fact of Izzo or Dantonio impropriety?

Don't fall the ESPN hysteria fake news about connecting Dr Nasser to the basketball and football programs. They couldn't provide a single shred of evidence either.

I don't give any fuchs. But, it's prob literally the only post you've made that I've seen that hasn't had both "liking" it. Maybe you shouldn't give any flyers to me noticing?

Just want to point out that I got a 57-47 second half from the Hawkeyes and Gophers last night for the over and it was glorious. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 104-point half before.

Is there anywhere in Lafayette or West Lafayette known for being an awesome environment for watching Purdue games? Like a bar or restaraunt?

Jake's has a lot of big TV's. Food is meh. I'd recommend Chumely's in downtown Lafayette. Nice beer selection and pretty good food.

In case you haven't noticed I will just point this out: Iowa is a really bad defensive basketball team. But ya, 104 points is pretty extreme and don't know if I've seen that either. Congrats on the over I guess

I dont feel like going into downtown. Was thinking more along the lines of the eastern part of Lafayette

thanks as this came out in a interview, never heard of it before, but Bohannon did say he is starting to turn the corner.

pretty good line last night [to bad I slept thru most of it]
20 points, 10 assists and 3 steals
if he is 100% it could turn out interesting.

If you were a high major coach in his first season, that was at best going to go 16-14, would you start the 2018-2019 season now and play the younger guys?

I would have done this to a point anyway as I think Green gives you a better chance to win than Newkirk. I would start Green, Johnson, McBob, Smith, and Morgan.

Bench would be Durham, Hartman, Moore, Newkirk (minimal minutes) McSwain (minimal minutes).

I think you reward Johnson and Hartman and still give them some good minutes. Both are fourth and fifth year seniors who have been through it all with the program. Newkirk and McSwain take their minutes way down.
