March 28th Sweet 16 Thursday game threads

I've been impressed with the Ducks, tough D and beating UVa off the tribble on a regular basis. UVa looking for someone to heat up from three, but so far no takers in this half.

Gonzaga is a better team, period. More talent at nearly every position. And Mark Few is obviously a great coach.

But FSU was playing without a starter and it’s second best ball handler. Makes a difference. Was Gonzaga less well coached last year when FSU won by 15, but Gonzaga was missing Tillie?
No you’re right. Missing a player, especially a starter, kills a teams balance. It definitely affected FSU tonight.

I was shaking my head at your big guy though. How he doesn't know how to just wall up is beyond me. I get making that mistake once, but he knew he was invaluable to his team and he knew he was in foul trouble, but he kept bringing his arms down and playing wreckless.

FSU had something on Gonzaga with him in the game.

I know you’re joking, but

Mentally weak? Half this team was the national runner up a year ago. You really going to double down on that?

Wagner, Rahkman, Robinson aren't on this years team. Every team/locker room is different.

All I know is what I saw this year, especially the past month - they get rattled and they're toast. 2019 Wolves were just frontrunners.

Beilein is obviously a good coach and has been on a good run in recent years. Maybe their younger guys mature and they get tougher next year. This type of tourney exit was predictable, though.

This is not a good look for you. Also why don’t you 2 take this pissing match to the offseason thread.

This mentally weak team won more ncaa tournament games this season alone than Indiana has won in the past three seasons. I’ll take it.

He played a bad game. He was pressing trying to make a big play to make up for our other missing guys.

And again, he wasn't even a top 250 recruit. If you saw him 3 years ago you'd say he would never play meaningful minutes for an ACC team, let alone a top 15 team. Just like Michael Ojo before him. Just like Kabengele. Kabengele had 1 power conference offer--FSU.

Leonard Hamilton and Stan Jones are taking guys who weren't recruited by most programs, sprinkling in a couple of top 75 type kids, and making the second weekend back to back years. That's why I bristle a little when folks say "bad coaching." There's a lot more to coaching than what people see in a game.

Are we the most fundamentally sound team in the country? No. But we are also recruiting tall athletes and teaching them how to play basketball over 2-3 years.

UVa subbed in Salt for two minutes this half, that's been the contribution of their bench.

Oregon went immediately into "Hero Ball" down the stretch. It's a shame because even though they were down 3 they were no where close to needing a 3 ball when they were frantically chucking those contested shots up.

Congrats, Moss and also to the Red Raider and Boilermaker fans on the board. Always fun to be one of the Final 8 teams playing, and now y’all get to watch tomorrow’s games with the satisfaction of knowing you’re already moving on.

I’d say congrats to Zags fans, but haven’t seen any on the board.

Very disappointed that FSU didn't win today, had them losing to Texas Tech in the elite 8. Good season dude.

I am not gonna complain much when we make the Elite 8 but we played like absolute garbage on the offensive end. We better play much better on Saturday or we’re gonna get embarrassed.

They pissed down their leg 3 times in 11 days the exact same way (blowing leads and falling apart offensively in last 5 min) vs MSU before this tournament, and showed their hand. I ain't wrong.

Some teams just aren't good under pressure. This UM team, unlike recent UM teams, was one of them. TT just made them feel it for 40 min instead of 5-10 min like MSU did.

IU pissed down their leg the entire B1G season it seemed.

I had TT beating FSU in the E8. Of course I also had Tennessee beating someone in their region so got roasted there.

It was a fun ride. I’m fortunate to be around the program pretty close up and this was such an easy group to cheer for. Just some fantastic human beings. Would have loved to see them cap it off with a Final Four, but guys like Mann and Cofer really helped change the culture of the program. Health wasn’t on our side this tourney run, but foundation is set for another strong year next year. Still not sure how the all the Tobacco Road schools let Patrick Williams out of the Tar Heel State, but we are excited for him next year!

Good luck tomorrow. Probably the game I’m most looking forward to.
