I saw this post on wvu message board and I also watched the game again to see how bad it was and what this guys seen was spot.
"So I did what Huggins told me to do went and watched the tape in detail...slow motion...and again...and again The tape doesn't lie.
The officials were not consistent with their calls in the second half. Contact on one end was not called...while contact on the other end was. We missed some open shots. We ran "delay" 6 times...with two of those being within the flow of the game heading up to the 8:00 timeout. One one we ended up with a 3 by Dax.
The back to back calls of no foul when getting it into Sags for a turnaround jump hook...and then a phantom call on Esa when he ends up with a blow to the face was egregious. Terrible...considering what had been called on the other end. (ex. Their guy taking a dive with West touching him as he set a moving screen...and a touch of the armpit by Routt when their guy is making an off balance shot.
Perhaps the most insane by Luckie was the call of a "on the floor" foul on Dax on the rebound that made it a 1and1 when Dax is obviously trying to put back a rebound.
Then you have Esa and Javon on back to back drives to the hole...I thought from listening to everyone that we didn't go to the hole...but we did!!!...get sent to the floor...specifically Javon getting hit "low"...where they called us on that with two in the second half...one where Sags is just standing behind the guy as he misses a bunny rebound...
Just enough to make you puke.
We can all think about what we saw...but Huggs is right. The game was not called the same way on both ends of the floor...and it cost us a chance to win.
We actually had some good shots that didn't fall...rimmed out...etc...but the shots where we took it to the hole and tried to go inside...the whistles never came. Actually...two did...for the knowledgeable Kansas fans...one with Carter and one with Sags at the beginning of second half...but the last 8 minutes there were no whistles on that end. None!
The no call on Sags getting fouled (Luckie's call...right in front of him) followed by the Higgins call from the wing on Esa going for the rebound and getting "incidental contact" to the face was criminal.
Interesting how one is "incidental contact"...but we are going to put their guy on the line to go up 68-66 on a call 48 feet from their basket on a rebound....where our guy ends up bleeding from a fist to the face.
Wow.
Yea...Huggs...I watched the tape and you were right.
All those others that want to say something else...go watch the tape...then talk.
Criminal"
Forgot to mention that one...
Esa goes to the bench bleeding after taking a karate chop to his face, and KU shoots 2 FT's.
Can't make this stuff up.
