Championship Classic Prediction Thread - SPREADS OUT - Updated!

I remember a few years ago on this board, it was one of the biggest talking points about Duke. I am certain quite a few UK guys were ragging on K for playing too many neutral site games.

That said, I do kind of wish we would do some home and homes with more programs.

I was one for sure.

I still am a Coach K detractor because I know why he does it he is a chicken. Cal also likes the neutral sites because it is like the tourney and for sure it is easier to beat Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina or Kansas in Indy than on their home court. So Cal is also a chicken and wants neutral site games.

However, the big difference is that even chicken Cal will schedule home and home with UNC and Kansas and UCLA and others. Duke simply will not do it with any good program. They may schedule one with a St. Johns or some mid-level program, but not a good one.

Also the arguments above about the neutral site bringing in more revenue is really questionable. In what venue will Kentucky play that would generate more revenue for Kentucky than a home game in Rupp? The ticket prices for UK home tickets are cheap compared to what the season ticket holder are required to pay the athletic department simply for the right to be a season ticket holder. So, I simply can't think of a neutral site that would produce UK more revenue than a home game. I would prefer UK to schedule a bunch of home and home games with good programs simply to justify the high cost of UK season tickets.

On the other hand, Duke plays in Cameron and it is small. Therefore, any neutral site would be a big gain in revenue; however, Duke is private and need not worry about a few million. Additionally, Coach K simply has put down the marker for decades that he will not play ooc games on a home and home basis with any decent team.

Cal can play most folks on a neutral site and so can Coach K. They are chickens; however, Coach K is an even bigger chicken because he will not do a decent home and home.

KU's 4 guard offense days are over, back to the ultra boring High/Low and defensive grind

KU 70

MSU is always a bit underrated, Izzo will have them prepared for this national showcase

MSU 67

Duke 88

The 3's will be flying, might even be some defense this year as last year embarrassed the ole shoe polish sponsor

UK 70

Once again ESPN and UK nation has done this years collection a disservice, severely overrated and easily the worst of the 4 at this event.

2018
MSU preseason #2
MSU final #11

2017
Preseason #12
MSU final Unranked

MSU always being underrated is an odd takeaway

I like to get hammered and post, as well.

I will tell you more about that Wednesday!SmokinSmile
pins and needles.

When Big Bertha was being installed, the baseball players coudn't throw it in the upper arena, but Rod Stewart was performing a performance in Rupp, and he kicked a soccer ball up there.

I know this because I worked with the guy that designed bertha. He also worked on 360

Eyeroll

This post is the definition of “try hard.”

Since you're supremely confident about UK's road woes this seems like an opportunistic time for you to accept a ban bet between us. Advantage you, obviously, since UK plays @ Louisville this year. You game? *Waits to hear excuses*

Reported.

Seriously though, ban bets are dumb.

Back on topic:
- KU 74
- MSU 64

- UK 76
- Duke 72

We're 5 days out excluding today, so let's get a prediction thread going!

#1 Kansas vs #10 Michigan State
85-76 KU

#2 Kentucky vs #4 Duke
94-88 Kentucky

What's your opinion?

I think there will be more defense in the 1st game than in the 2nd.

i think you are correct
i would like to add, i think 2/4 will be in the FF

To be fair, in 2017 we were hit with a barrage of injuries and had 1 player taller than 6’6 on the roster, 6’8 Nick Ward.

At some points because we were so small we had 6’5 Matt Van Dyck guarding Haas.

I understand your point as I think MSU has gotten the benefit of the doubt by the preseason polls recently, mostly due to respect gained over 20+ years of Izzo’s tenure, but looking at just the last two years is a bit shortsighted.

I’m not the one who said always, he did. Pointing out those years doesn’t negate my point.

And yes it is probably an Izzo bump based on respect he’s earned.

Unless Winston and Langford have both improved greatly I just don’t see it with MSU. We have a good frosh class but no instant impact guys. They are all 4 year player types.

I’ll be happy if MSU can be competitive with KU

Champions Classic renewed for 4 more years:

So going into lets say, Cameron Indoor, wouldn't be more experience than playing at MSG? That's a cop-out and you know it. Playing in a crazy true road environment such as C.I. helps boost the mentality and gets you tournament ready way more than playing at neutral site where you can pack the arena full of blue.

I'm really sure Uk is going to gain a load of experience playing in MSG against Seton Hall, who will bring 1,000 fans and it virtually be a home game for Kentucky

When was the last time he played a true OOC road game? Oh........Indiana.......wonder what happened to that and why he stopped scheduling to go up to Bloomington?
Are we a little butt hurt? Seems like you care a lot about Kentucky. I guess you don't have a legitimate team to cheer for. Especially if you were a Louisville fan that was cheering for one of the dirtiest programs in college basketball history. The only program to be caught providing prostitutes to 16 year old recruits. The only program to have a title vacated. We can see why you have a chip on your shoulder.

Man you seem to know a lot to not care about us. Also, are you suggesting that if so many bad things happened at UK you wouldn’t be a fan of them anymore aka you’re a tshirt bandwagon fan? That’s what seems to be the case....

Bad things can happen at schools but whoremongering is another thing. Just about as low as you can go when you provide prostitutes to minors. Hope you are proud of those dirty birds.

I think being racist is way lower than prostitutes, but I see you don't agree. Does that mean you're racist?

Bet Kentucky -1, hard. Lock.

I think UK has the advantage inside, but guard play, from what I've heard from a few UK friends that they can't guard the perimeter and got blown by easily against Transy and IUP. I honestly think it ends up being a PK before tomorrow.

Who are the scorers for KU?

Dedric Lawson will be the man. Could be the POY. I would say he will average around 18 and 11 or 12 rpg. Udoka will average around 14 or 15. Expect Vick in double figures again. And Freshman Grimes around 10-12 . I think Dotson around 7-8 ppg.

Kansas -5 is the definition of free money. Would feel comfortable taking Kansas -10.

Thanks for admitting the truth, now take out the trash @Kevin Bryan
Doing the same think you always do as a UofL fan. You take someone's post and alter it. Fake news. You must be a far left democrat. This is my actual reply to you for everyone to see:
I am racist against schools that provide prostitutes to minors.
I don't blame you for trying to follow the lead of your ex coach and try to change the narrative. Cheaters are good at that.

Nah your school and past coach is just racist. Point shaving, The 80s Sutton debacle (death penalty) yeah....UK is as clean as a whistle Lololol. My lord you’re bad at this.

If UK provided prostitutes to 16 year old recruits, mismanaged taxpayer money, had a coach that raped a woman in a public restaurant and got caught working with a shoe company on a play for pay deal I would continue to support my program, but I wouldn' be running around forums trashing other programs while my house was ablaze.

Still never provided prostitutes to minors and the NCAA was so upset that they vacated your one championship that Pitino won by cheating. Never happened at any other school. You will have to live with that the rest of your life. Get used to it.
