Avenatti on Duke

Anyway, Duke is looking into it according to an ESPN notification I just received. Lol

I'm not trying to perpetuate false claims. I thought I remembered it being from an investigation. But that wouldn't have made sense because they were investigating Adidas.

Either way, it amusing that we just assume Duke is guilty based on them out recruiting Kentucky in the time period that Duke adopted the OAD strategy. That's really the only thing you guys are going by.
It is well documented that Zion and his family were asking for money. I guess going to Duke is worth much more than money.

Try and stay on topic here. I was not denying anything involving Zion. I was questioning the people who think that Nike paying players was exclusive to Duke players and that Kentucky hasn't been getting the best recruits because Nike is pushing them to Duke.

Kentucky literally recruited Zion very hard

Are you arguing that Cal is the one person in the sport who is ignorant to how the shoe game works?

Or are you saying that he expected a “come play in Lexington for free” pitch to work?Laughing
I think cal's pitch of "I get 90% of my recruits to the NBA" (which is true) still works for some elite kids. You'd have to be an idiot to think kentucky is paying players yet has only gotten ONE top 5 kid since 2014. If UK is paying players there is literally 0 reason to go to any school besides UK.

Be davis, wall, Bledsoe, Booker, towns, cousins, Murray, lyles, fox, wcs, Knox, sga

Or

Be irving and bagley...?

Where would the debate come in?

Just admit it. UK was kicking everyone's ass in recruiting from 09-13 and nobody could stand it so they started paying players.

There's always the theory that the kid just loved Orange Julius's and Auntie Anne's pretzels...

Gassnola’s on record saying that Nike steers players to Kentucky (and UNC and Duke), and there were strong rumors at the time about Davis and 200k.

Gotta admit...it would be more shocking to find out he didn’t collect.
The Adidas consultant? Not sure how he'd have the scoop on Nike schools, but regardless, let's see the ledger, if it exists. Porn lawyer is sitting on all sorts of documentation and sharing very specific details.

Nope, not one single time have I claimed UK doesn't cheat, or hasn't cheated. I just think it's best to wait for something to surface before making assumptions.

Nice strawman, btw.

Actually, we kind of know for a fact that he is...at least according to the people who are the dirty ones paying these guys.

There is no way that that you can know for certain. The problem with North Carolina is that when you offer fake majors to keep kids eligible, it certainly stands to reason that you would also pay basketball players. You sort of lose all credibility when you did the former. Roy’s struggles to land the elite HS kids do not exonerate him. LSU showed us that it isn’t simply one and done all Americans that are getting paid.

What is your comparison even supposed to mean? Why would there be no debate?

Skal was the #1 recruit a few years back, so that theory goes out the window. And even if there are no others, there have been many just outside the top 5.

Only a fool would think that Brian Bowen collected but Anthony Davis did not. Guess you fit the bill.

Why wouldn’t they know what the competition is offering?

I think it would be hard for us to have gotten all those guys before duke started getting them and Nike not have been involved in some of them. Lucky for us Avenatti is only going back to 2015. Because of that I could see a scenario where a lot of teams get busted and we get away clean. Because 2014 is when we started having to settle for our plan b’s and c’s.

That may be the dumbest and most inaccurate take on UNC on this board in a while (and Phil posts here).

Interesting how your recruiting trailed off after losing your runner WWW.

You never disappoint.

And why exactly do you assume that UNC is not involved? Because they have only a few OADs this year?
What we do know is that Kansas players have been paid. See Billy Preston and DeSousa. You can listen to the FBI tapes when you get a chance. We also know Bill Self is on tape talking to a convicted felon representing Adidas asking to get some good players. Those are things we all know.

Where did WWW go? He still attends UK games. What are you talking about?

Btw, WWW had been involved with almost every top program for a long time.

i will explain it the best i can
a Chicago Suns blogger (yes, blogger) said that Davis was bought for 200k
almost every credible sports reporter around Chicago H.S. basketball and nationally all but called him a liar
but UL fans (and a few others) want so badly for UK/Cal to be dirty that they continue to state him taking money as fact

If we're all being realistic, any top program is playing the game to compete. You think Adidas was competing against themselves? Or Nike? Or Under Armor? They want to steer kids to their sponsored universities so they can sign them when they go pro. If Kansas, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. doesn't play the game they won't get the best talent. The program suffers, coaches get fired, and revenue dries up. This has been going on since John Wooden was at UCLA. The only difference is its shifted from boosters to shoe companies.

Who says we lost him? You have no idea what you're talking about. He was behind the bench during our NCAAT games.I get trying to talk shit, but don't come with nonsense.

Shame.
He is always around, who is the dumbass saying different

The moral of this entire FBI story is no one ****ing cares, the latest Duke info is going nowhere, idk if they produce receipts from her. How can they take back the positive PR Duke received the entire year off Zion? its the only thing that counts TBH.

KU took the brunt of the media outrage for the clickbaits ad dollars, its a clown show put on by the Southern District.

They are probably trying to. Duke just happens to be the hotter name for them right now. These things go in cycles. You guys surely didn’t believe after 2015 that you’d get 2-3 top 5 players every year until the end of time, did you?

We haven’t gotten a top 5 player since Randle in 2014. Towns in 2015 was ranked below 5th for some stupid reason

Almost every top 10 (maybe more) recruit is getting paid by the company endorsing whichever school. Anyone who doesn’t believe that is being purposely oblivious. Most of these kids ain’t rich and money talks. Not gonna convince me that ‘X’ top recruit signed with ‘X’ school because he thought the coach was nice when there’s triple figures offered elsewhere.

The NCAA isn’t stupid, they know what’s going on — They’re protecting all of the powerhouse schools. Why? Because nobody will give a rats ass about college basketball if you eliminate the big dogs. Nobody cares about Mid-Majors or P5 conference bottom feeders. Ratings = $$$ and they will blanket all of these schools to protect their pockets. Time to wake up - This is college basketball.

Side note...
Avenatti is the trash of the human race. He knows that Nike pays players. Doesn’t take a pure understanding of Quantum Physics to figure that out. He just wants money and he’s throwing Zion’s name out there to get it. I love how he mentioned 10 grand. WTF is 10K for Zion F’ing Williamson?

Of course they did....cal told them all that they're the gold standard of college basketball!

Its seriously funny seeing Duke, UK, Kansas and North Carolina fans all accusing the other 3 of cheating while saying that your school is the only one who doesn't lol.

Just accept it guys, in 2019, if you want to have consistently top 5ish recruiting classes....you, or your shoe company will be paying a lot of money to those recruits. No inner city poor black kid has ever grown up dreaming about playing in Durham, Chapel Hill, Lexington or Lawrence.
