Obv hard to compare across diff sports, i was gonna put tiger or jack and muhammed ali and tony hawk on there but i figured be best to keep it to team sports at least.

Went with Gretzky because he has the rings and his records might never ever be broken. MJ was a close 2nd.

Soccer is gay. Sorry, Pele.

Babe Ruth played when curveballs were considered witchcraft and you were a Nancy if you didn’t throw straight heat 150 times a game. He still did what he did when others guys couldn’t but baseball is just such a blah sport.

Tom isn’t the top guy in many (any?) stats not tied to longevity. Longevity is cool and what he did with Tampa was legendary, but there have been more talented QBs, just stuck on worse teams. Football has such large rosters that it’s hard for me to pick a football player. Half of Tom’s rings came on the back of the defense more so than him playing exceptionally (not that he played poorly). But, lastly and most importantly, the Patriots played in the division of the blind, deaf, and dumb for most of his run. The Bills and Dolphins were hot garbage. The Jets had like 2 good seasons. Anyway, I hate him and hope he gets HIV.

It's MJ for me. Football players are on very big rosters, so too many variables to win, and most great QB's need to win with having a good or great defense, too. Besides, MJ not only was the best offensive player, but might've been the best defensive player some of his playing years, too. Brady only plays one position and gets to sit half the game, whereas Jordan had to play both offense and defense and he did it better than anyone. He also won 6 rings and really should've had 8 straight, if he hadn't decided to try baseball (hell, Jordan could've had a couple more, too, if Krause hadn't decided to break up the Bulls after '98)

After reading that stat about gretzky i have to go with him. Jfc thats impressive.

Take away all of Gretzky's NHL leading 894 goals and he still leads the NHL in career points with his 1,963 assists. Second place in points is Jaromir Jagr who has 1,921(766 goals/1,155 assists), but played almost 300 more games.
yea, this is obviously Gretzky and then MJ is second.

If I had to give out a vote it would be for Tom Brady. Followed very closely by Michael Jordan.
Brady (or any football player) shouldn't even be on this list. You can't be the GOAT of GOATs if you're not even on the field for 55% of the game. That's an auto DQ from this discussion.

Nah, Brady has done more GOAT things in football than anyone else has done in their sport.

You find a more GOAT stat than this I’d love to hear it. The NHL waived the waiting period and immediately inducted him into the HoF and his jersey was retired league wide.

Gretzky also produced this. Game. Set. Match.

I’ll be honest. I just don’t care about hockey. I said in my first post in the thread that MJ has a case and if anything is right there.

You don't like hockey? I'll be honest Jimbo, I no longer think you can win a fight vs a cougar. I still have you winning 1v1 vs a wolf and a black bear, but not a cougar.

I'll watch for the fighting. Idk, its not big at all where I'm from. I would watch over baseball, though. No doubt about that.

Hell i mighta shoulda put shohei ohtani up there. Playing the tigers but dam what a game.

I might go with Mike Tyson. He could probably STILL beat the shit out of any man on that list and then take rape their woman.

I loved Tyson, but in the end he was exposed as having a glass jaw. The first guy who really touched him knocked him out so bad he spent the entire 10 count on the mat trying to get a hold of his mouth guard. And that wasn't even some good fighter who did it, it was Buster Douglas.

Great rapist though.

Glass jaw in boxing is like speed in other sports. It comes with "in the end".

Most HOF worthy.

So here's the thing, even if they want to say, oh what he did was so wrong, maybe it was.

My counter is, the guy had an addiction, and what's holding him out is he was using... actually succumbing to his addiction, and unable to own it after the fact is part of an addict's issue. So what they are essentially saying, it seems is... if he can beat his addiction then we will let him in. That just seems like BS to me.

I think he should be in.

When we're talking about records that probably will never be broken, then Pete Rose has a few of them.

*I still think Gretzky was better. I'm glad I've got to see most on these list.

Pete Rose was a good player that played forever. Gretzky was the best player in his sport for a long time. His hits record will never be broken for sure though.

I think easily the hardest of all sports...I can see why some are turned off by the game---But for me its the greatest.

Im a baseball fan, but i think basketball is the hardest to succeed at just bc if ur not at least taller than six feet ur at such a disadvantage.

Not that it makes it any easier to be a great baseball player but you can be jose altuve sized, aaron judge sized, or be fat as hell like miguel cabrera and bartolo colon to name a couple.

And obv in football theres only a few pro sports leagues in the world so that hurts.

Idk they are all obv extremely difficult to reach professional level but in football and espcially basketball you have to be a certain size and/or have freak athletic ability.

i know i know mugsy and spud and stockton and on and on but those are outliers imo and a thing of the past moreso than what we see today. Trae and steph arent giant but they arent 5”6-5”8 either (i dont think at least for trae)

It’s definitely subjective. I could never get fully into it and really disliked the ‘baseball bro’ types who were deep into the culture of it and the unwritten rules and stuff like that. I stuck with it longer than I should have because it was my dad’s main sport, but I didn’t enjoy it more even when I played well. Finished a season batting about .500 and finished the next season like .200. Didn’t feel any different about it either year.

Edit: I love going to watch baseball games live. Next to hockey, it’s the best live sporting event there is, imo. Oddly, football was my favorite sport to play but I tend to prefer watching it at home on tv. Baseball on tv is literal torture.

This is exactly, word for word how my playing days went. I really only played bc all my friends played, and i didnt wanna do weightlifting which the football coaches basically made you do that or track in the offseason. We actually have numerous state titles in weightlifting despite being a super small town. I jist couldnt get into the squtting and hang cleaning or whatever like i dont want my legs to hurt every gd step i take lol.

But yea i was decent at baseball not a star of the team or anything but we had like 8 seniors on the squad starting, and we were a better team our JR year, but our coach left for another school and we got a new guy in who was such a dick it was ridiculous. He would literally take infield with us while another coach hit to “show us how its done”. Or try and strike us out with his “curve ball” in batting practice from 10 ft in front of the mound. He was just an arrogant POS who also routinely made the girls in our school feel uncomfortable bc he was super creepy around girl always offering up hugs or neck rubs or telling them how nice they look. None the less we were TERRIBLE. Now dude coaches basketball at lyon county, another podunk town that produced ty rogers (hit buzzer beater for wku one tourney last decade)

Anyways i wanted to quit Not even halfway through the year but my parents wouldnt let me. Finally i jist told coach dickhead to just bench me bc i was batting probly under .200 with like 2-3 extra base hits on the season. And the prev year i batted like .400 or so, only struck out 4-5 times all year, above average out fielder or ida been in right lol. My Game just fell off a cliff bc i didnt care anymore.

Also prob didnt help that we all smoked herb on the way to practice. Hell One game i was goofing off on left field and crack they hit a fly ball right to me, i never saw it but i stuck my glove up like i was under it and it landed bout five feet to my left. Then after the inning the coach asked me if id been doping before the game 😂 which we didnt before games, just practice, bc our baseball field was about a 10 min drive from the school.
