Hands up don't shoot was absolutely founded based on a lie.
Everything bad is the white mans fault. No personal accountability for personal decisions.Well, somebody missed me yesterday!
Actually, I can use liberal sites and conservative sites, which I did. And I didn't stop there. Once on those sites, I read beyond the headlines. I looked for bias, exaggeration. I checked primary sources. I cross-referenced them. Only then did I cite anything from any site, liberal or conservative. That is indeed pretty typical liberal thinking in that it is thorough, logical, well-educated, and well-practiced at hearing diverse perspectives openly.
You only read, like, the first line of my post, didn't you? Had you read as far as the third sentence, you'd have seen a lot of that. It's right there. Now, if I was into taking all kinds of intellectual shortcuts and making broad, stupid generalizations, I might refer to your incompetent attempt to take a swing at me as "typical conservative thinking." Fortunately for all the intelligent, thoughtful, reasonable conservatives out there who would be unfairly lumped in with you, I'm a liberal, so I wouldn't do that.
Because it wasn't a lie. I'd explain further, but after that last bit, I don't see any hope in it.
The dots you tried to connect there are pretty freakin ludicrous.
Gosh, it sure is too bad that we can't learn anything except by getting old.
You should save that line for someone who actually claims it.Everything bad is the white mans fault. No personal accountability for personal decisions.
Well I have never owned a slave, never committed a hate based or race based crime, never asked for the government to give me one single thing, always applied myself and worked hard, so I don’t feel like I owe anybody a damn thing and it pissed me if when I get blamed for things based on my skin color. You should save that line for someone who actually claims it.
My personal responsibility extends to caring about others. That means addressing wrongs regardless of who is responsible for them. It sounds like you're more worried about getting blamed for something than for fixing that something in the first place. Sounds selfish to me.
Again, save that line for someone accusing you of being white.Well I have never owned a slave, never committed a hate based or race based crime, never asked for the government to give me one single thing, always applied myself and worked hard, so I don’t feel like I owe anybody a damn thing and it pissed me if when I get blamed for things based on my skin color.
I can not fix the race thing as long as people keep bringing up something that ended 150 years ago, but you can continue to wallow in the past instead of working toward the future.
Just what is that “ something” you are trying to fix?You should save that line for someone who actually claims it.

You are correct. I am not trying to fix anything because I did not break anything. I take 100% responsibility for taking care of myself and my family by educating myself, applying myself, working hard to improve my lot in life without the government giving me a thing. Our country promises ever citizen a high school education with an opportunity to get a college education. If any citizen has no desire to grab it, then shame on them. Get your ass up and find a job and make something of yourself instead of wasting hard working tax payers money.Again, save that line for someone accusing you of being white.
Mrs. Carter used the word "slavery," which did indeed end over 150 years ago. Its 200+ years in the American colonies and U.S. gave way to another 100 years of legal oppression which gave way to another 50+ years of ongoing systemic oppression. That's where we are now. Focusing literally on the word "slavery" helps keep the focus away from doing anything about ongoing issues.
I just told you I consider helping right past wrongs part of my personal responsibility. Where else would one do that except the present and future?
You think your personal responsibility means nothing more than yourself and family, it seems. No responsibility to society, or any concern with improving it, apparently. As long as you getz yours, it's just fine with you, huh? That's pretty selfish and short-sighted, if so. You're not working toward any future but your own if you aren't part of addressing present problems. Worse, you're repeating stupid, boring talking points like a sheep, pretending you're under attack for being white and deflecting from the ongoing existence of systemic oppression.
Now ignore what I said and repeat yourself again.
Right. Like I said: selfish. I didn't break anything, either, but I'll help fix it.You are correct. I am not trying to fix anything because I did not break anything.
On a.sports forum? Examples of how you are.fixing things please.Right. Like I said: selfish. I didn't break anything, either, but I'll help fix it.
It starts with caring. I think you're going to stall out there. On a.sports forum? Examples of how you are.fixing things please.
I just told you I consider helping right past wrongs part of my personal responsibility.
On the contrary, you're setting things way bigger than yourself up for failure if you're not willing to help fix what's broken. You are setting yourself up for failure if you are making other people's wrongs your responsibility
I guess it depends on what we're saying is broken and how we're going to to fix it.On the contrary, you're setting things way bigger than yourself up for failure if you're not willing to help fix what's broken.
Bu-bu-bu-but I keep hearing how no one alive today knows anything more about being a slave than anyone else because none of us has ever been a slave, so why would anyone be any more offended than anyone else? If Mrs. Carter is cool w/ saying it, doesn't that just mean y'all are snowflakes for not being able to handle it?Comparing slavery to that of a CBB player is very, very simple minded. It's also a huge injustice, and slap in the face to those who actually suffered through it. It's comments like these that will NOT allow racism to stop; Among other issues as well. When people quit blaming their failures on others, we may start to make some progress.

Yeah that's what it means. And you're trying to "fix" things.Bu-bu-bu-but I keep hearing how no one alive today knows anything more about being a slave than anyone else because none of us has ever been a slave, so why would anyone be any more offended than anyone else? So, your caring has fixed what? I care, but for things I can control. Packing a sign in protest is too liberal for me. I just try to treat folks the same. Feel pretty good about myself. It starts with caring. I think you're going to stall out there.
It's ongoing. This is going to be pretty big, just to name one thing on this week's schedule. So, your caring has fixed what? I care, but for things I can control. Packing a sign in protest is too liberal for me. I just try to treat folks the same. Feel pretty good about myself.
Keep blaming others and feeling sorry for yourself and you will get nowhere in life. It's ongoing. This is going to be pretty big, just to name one thing on this week's schedule.
Caring only for things you can control is a good way to make sure you don't have to care for much. Trying to treat folks the same is a tone deaf cop-out for people who are too callous to treat people like individuals. It's pretty easy to feel good about yourself when you insulate yourself like that.
Yep. Just what I figured. You want more government handouts. All these teachers missing school to protest and left parents in a bind trying to find child care. If that is how you care, I want no part of your selfish acts. It's ongoing. This is going to be pretty big, just to name one thing on this week's schedule.

Save it for someone doing that.Keep blaming others and feeling sorry for yourself and you will get nowhere in life.
You have to be pretty dumb to think the concept of public school is unsound and that missing a single day to secure a better future for students is a bad investment.Yep. Just what I figured. You want more government handouts. All these teachers missing school to protest and left parents in a bind trying to find child care. If that is how you care, I want no part of your selfish acts.
And all you can find is CNN articles. The most liberal and fake news organization in the world. Where are all the articles about the same thing happening to white people. Things like that happen to all people but CNN will not report when it happens to whites.I’d be more okay with this post if, just in the last two weeks, we haven’t had examples of African Americans getting the cops called on the when they...

I don’t get why some people get so defensive, how they insist THEY aren’t part of the problem and they are sick of getting punished for their background because of slavery or whatever it is, and that they (unlike some welfare queen) don’t ask the government for anything (except police protection and fire protection and roads and military protection and education and...) instead of just saying “Yep, there are still big issues with race to work out in this country. Black folks still get it pretty bad sometimes, and acknowledging that doesn’t take anything away from my accomplishments. But lets talk about how we can address that instead of insisting that there’s nothing there, because the more Americans we can get past race... I mean, really get past it... the better it will be for ALL of us, and the only way to actually make progress is to open our eyes and ears and listen to our fellow Americans.” How is that so hard?
You've got to be trolling. And all you can find is CNN articles. The most liberal and fake news organization in the world. Where are all the articles about the same thing happening to white people. Things like that happen to all people but CNN will not report when it happens to whites.
And you've got to be racist. You've got to be trolling.
lol Okay... and you've got to be... IDK... a carrot? And you've got to be racist.
I'm not doing the REALLY heavy lifting here, b/c then there will probably be some new means of getting outraged while white, but just to test the waters...See, this is why I bailed on this thread... because some people are stupid. Literally denying facts. Insanity. And what’s funny is I thought ‘Should I bother going through and finding the Fox links for each of these things, so some mouth breather doesn’t fall back on the “Waaaa, it’s CNN, it’s fake news!” nonsense while conveniently ignoring what actually happened? Nah, nobody would be dumb enough to care which particular news story I linked, given that it is the event that matters, and that all of these were covered extensively by every major news media outlet.’ Apparently I overestimated some folks here.
Don't give a shit about Laura Ingraham. I speak for myself. And you are out of line with your second point. You know what I was saying.Teachable moment? Laura Ingraham doesn't think so.
But as long as the real lesson we teach is that other places are worse and black people should be grateful for slavery or else they'd still be in all the worst places, it's cool.
To be fair, there is video evidence of a Starbucks employee giving the bathroom code to white people who aren't buying anything, but refusing to give it to the black man who asked. I am not positive, but I think the black guy was a lawyer and he was making the videos to show discrimination. But.... it was only one woman who refused to give him the code. The rest of the people who he asked, gave it to him. So, it could be something, might not be.You literally believe the cops were called on those 2 black guys because they were black? Had nothing to do with the fact they refused to honor the rule that you had to order something? Rest rooms were for customers only? Had it been 2 white guys, the results would be different? You honestly believe this? If you do, you are part of the problem.
Do blacks get profiled, yes. Is it getting better, I think so. But the same things happen to whites as well, it just never makes the news.
Ferguson was used as a race shooting by blacks, Obama, and mostly by the media, even members of Congress believed it, as did pro sports teams. Rioting, looting, businesses burned down. All because one person lied. In fact we later learned it was nothing more than a cop trying to defend himself from a common criminal.
No apologies, nothing.
Is there still work to do, yes, but it will never get done till some stop blaming racism every time something bad happens to a black person.
What’s funny to me is I can find countless liberal commentators making idiotic/hateful/racist comments about conservatives, and I dont see you sitting here callin them out. It’s like you expect conservatives to denounce everything some random conservative person says all while tucking tail and hiding whenever some liberal nut job says some crazy shit.Teachable moment? Laura Ingraham doesn't think so.
But as long as the real lesson we teach is that other places are worse and black people should be grateful for slavery or else they'd still be in all the worst places, it's cool.
I don’t have time to get angry at all the little injustices in the world, because there are millions. I have a demanding career, a big family (with little kids) and I actually have hobbies of my own. I literally don’t have the time or patience to worry about trying to fix everything. I treat others the way I want to be treated. I go to church. I raise my kids the right way. I donate to charities. I feel I’m doing my part. Just because you think people should do more or care more about things, doesn’t mean they have to or they’re selfish or don’t care. You should save that line for someone who actually claims it.
My personal responsibility extends to caring about others. That means addressing wrongs regardless of who is responsible for them. It sounds like you're more worried about getting blamed for something than for fixing that something in the first place. Sounds selfish to me.
It sucks because the fake cries of racism really hurt the honest ones. People like Michael Bennett really hurt their own cause my making up fake stories of police brutality and things. Is there still work to do, yes, but it will never get done till some stop blaming racism every time something bad happens to a black person.
Yup. People like Datt, who refuse to call out instances like the Bennett case, definitely hurt the real cases where racism actually existed. It sucks because the fake cries of racism really hurt the honest ones. People like Michael Bennett really hurt their own cause my making up fake stories of police brutality and things.
