Wendell Carter's mom says......

Mother of Pearl. So now you have an issue with how I interpret data and figures? Obviously there can always be sampling errors
It has nothing to do w/ that part of the data. You cite achievement numbers, then attribute it to a lack of helping themselves, which isn't remotely scientific.

From near the end of that NYT article: "People determined to stand against racism can raise concerns about groups that espouse hate and problems like the racial achievement gap in schools without smearing huge numbers of Americans, many of whom might otherwise be Democrats by temperament."
It's not possible to raise such concerns here w/o others responding as if they have been attacked. Beyond stating how we can all reinforce systemic racism we aren't even aware of, including me, I haven't accused anyone of being racist in this thread. That hasn't stopped a handful of conservative posters from filling the last page w/ sarcastic responses to nonexistent charges.

African-Americans spend more time with leisure activities and sports than other races. 22 minutes a day, on average, for studying. Pretty simple cause and effect. You value education less, you're going to perform poorly. This is a general statement, of course. Not everyone fits into these averages, but these averages represent the population better than any sort of anecdotal story. This is according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics

But you continue to insinuate that racism exists in places it doesn't. Blame racism for issues that aren't necessarily based on race. And defend false claims of racism and give the benefit of the doubt to obvious liars by saying we don't know if they are willful liars.

Yes, this happens on the flip side. But IMO, not to the extremes that the left takes it.

And yes, sometimes sarcasm is the best way to take on stubbornness.

Means nothing w/o context.
Lower incomes = lower tax revenue = worse schools = lower incomes
All you're saying is they ought to study more.

I've seen statistics showing disparities between various achievements and living conditions. What statistics prove they are holding themselves back and that racism isn't?

Just google any statistic you want, by demographic.... unwed mothers, black against black crime, college entrants, college graduates.... just pick a topic a go for it.

It is probably a mixture of both. The racist democats have been holding them back for decades by instilling the victim mentality in their minds telling them that the big bad republicans are the racist and only care about the rich. Meanwhile they are the ones holding them back by giving them just enough "crumbs" to make them think they can't do any better.

They are holding themselves back by continuing to vote democrat.

You must think black people are pretty stupid that they can't see through all that.

Not stupid. Kanye hit the nail on the head, the 90% of blacks that vote democrat 100% of the time are choosing to be enslaved by the Democrat lies and crumbs of government sssistsnce.

Okay, first of all, Kanye West was an idiot before he started ponying up to the MAGA crowd and he still is. At least he is challenging the status quo. That's something.

I honestly wish there wasn't a divide between race and American political parties. It'd probably be good for over all progress if that were the case.

But Democrats winning the black vote is way bigger than economic policy and social welfare.

The divide between race and party grew drastically following the Civil Rights Act. Today, whether correct or incorrect, the GOP is associated with being on the wrong side of segregation. It doesn't help that since then the southern states, who defended slavery, have collectively all bought in to the Republican Party ever since the Civil Rights Act. The GOP opposed the Civil Rights Act, oppose things like marriage equality, promote things like Christianity in government and typically oppose just about anything that falls outside of their paradigm.

On the other side, there are white people drawn to the Republican Party because they perceive that the GOP is looking out for the white man. They are all for opposing social inequalities and that's exactly what they want the Republican Party to do. So, if you're a Republican in office, you cater to that and skate the line.

So, regardless of the economic policy, the best Republican Party is attempt to take more white voters from the Democratic Party because any other demographic is an uphill battle. That may change when my generation gets older...might not.

I don’t have time to get angry at all the little injustices in the world, because there are millions. I have a demanding career, a big family (with little kids) and I actually have hobbies of my own. I literally don’t have the time or patience to worry about trying to fix everything. I treat others the way I want to be treated. I go to church. I raise my kids the right way. I donate to charities. I feel I’m doing my part. Just because you think people should do more or care more about things, doesn’t mean they have to or they’re selfish or don’t care.
We've been over this many times before, so if I'm accidentally replying to this exact post for a second time, apologies.

I recognize time constraints, family priorities, doing what you can in your daily life to treat those around you with respect, etc. I know that no one has time to do all the things. That includes me and every liberal I know, too.

Let's not pretend that you were just minding your own business when the SJW SWAT team came crashing through all your doors and windows to shame you for slacking. You're here taking a crap on everything related to seeking equity and justice around race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. If you're going to have time for that and that is how you decide to spend that time, I'm going to have some things to say in reply. For you to turn around and play the humble conservative victim is disingenuous. Any flak I've directed your way has been in response to your trashing those efforts.

What are some examples of charities you donate to? I promise to keep my mouth respectfully shut if they're charities I wouldn't support.

Has Kanye ever hit the nail on the head before? Did you sit up and listen when he said President GW Bush didn't care about black people? A broken clock may be right twice a day, but you're not selling anyone that clock.

Do you really believe this? These are the lies that the democrats are selling and have been selling for so long. Neither party actually cares. But one party uses and takes advantage of minorities. I have not met a single person who votes republican who does so because "they are all for social inequalities" or because they are "looking out for the white man." But yeah, keep beating that drum, it's working so well.

Wounded Warriors Project, United Way, American Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House, NRA, etc.. There are a couple more, those are the major ones I dknate to. We try and make it diverse.

Right on about the clock. I hope that Kanye has opened his eyes to what the democrats have done to blacks and is speaking out on it. But the liberals black and white have opened both barrels on him.

So you're basically saying that black people trend towards Democrats because they want hand outs.

And if you were black, why would you vote for someone who basically thinks you're an idiot?

All you're saying is they ought to study more.

And the reality is, there is little to no correlation between school funding and academic achievement. Here is a decades-long study conducted by the Cato Institute to emphasize that fact...

https://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/pa746.pdf

The burden of academic achievement lies more with the students and the parents than with funding. But sure, let's assume any inequities in academic achievement is because of systemic racism. That's a very scientific approach, don't you think?

The GOP opposed the Civil Rights Act

You do realize that 82% of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act compared to only 69% of Democrats? And I know there's some "Southern Strategy" Narrative which allegedly was the GOP way of attracting the Southern Voters (and essentially both parties completely switched values). But that's hardly credible when you consider that 20 of the 21 Democrats who opposed the Civil Rights Act remained Democrats... and the Republicans didn't hold a majority of the southern congressional seats until 1994, 30 years after the Civil Rights Act.

This is why you are wrong when you say it is a compliment to be called a liberal. It is not.

The term "liberal" is complete misnomer, if you ask me. I mean, what are they actually "liberal" about outside of gay marriage and abortion? They like more laws and regulations. They like taxes. They hate when people disagree with them. They certainly aren't taking the laissez-faire approach (live and let live).
