Too early to talk about this game? I figured since it won’t be in the pickem we can all give some predictions in this thread.

UVA has been rolling along in league play, while FSU has had two different two-week pauses. (The most recent one was a false positive, which is ridiculous the ACC doesn’t have protocol for that, but I digress).

Noles have been extremely tough to beat at home. In fact, we have the second longest ACC home winning streak in league history.

But Balsa Koprivica rolled his ankle in shoot around yesterday and missed the Wake game. If he can’t play against UVA, I fear Huff abuses us. We just don’t have anyone else to match up. We’d have to get him in early foul trouble.

Any thoughts?

I'm looking forward to see this one. I see Virginia as a 3 or 4 point favorite

We should place bets on what the spread will be. I'll go with 4.5.

FSU looked sluggish on D vs a not good WF team. UVA has been rolling except for the one stumble vs rival VT. UVA in this one, esp if Balsa can’t go for FSU.

I’m not sure I agree about us looking sluggish. From my seat we seemed to be giving a lot of effort, we just looked like a team that played like 5 games in the last 6 weeks.

Ballard is lost on D and he played decent minutes with Balsa out and Ham subbing liberally. And Wake ran some actions they hadn’t previously shown this season.

All that is to say, I wholeheartedly agree that we could be in trouble without Balsa. And UVA has looked good, although their game against GT was quite a struggle. I guess I just didn’t think sluggish was the best description.

Just beat them, FSU. Outside of Duke and State there is no team I would rather see lose than Virginia.

Played a great half, but need to do it again to feel comfortable. UVA just can't run much offense, especially when Hauser isn't on the floor. If not for some tough threes, this would be a complete laugher.

I think a 20 pt deficit at halftime qualifies as a complete laugher.
Yeah maybe but UVA is probably good for a 9-0 run at some point. Question is it to cut the lead to 10, or back to 20 if we've been able to push it out. But no doubt, we should be able to make this stand up

WHo knew?

When we got on a roll I dare say we don’t lose, just too many weapons and it becomes an avalanche

Watching this, thinking----"I am so glad IU played these dudes in November..." 🤣
I think we would have shot it better later on the year for sure. You guys are a more aggressive physical pack line defense so it definitely felt like more if a boxing match. This has felt like a ballet

Well that was fun. Would have been nice to have a full house rocking in Tuck, but always a blast to watch your team play at that level.
Yeah, there is really only one more chance for a good win on the schedule unless the VT game is played this weekend. Gotta just play our game and then plan to show out against UNC on the road. They are improved since the first game we played but I think we are too

Great win for the Noles. I have to admit, I didn't see that coming.

It's definitely a concern for UVA. They've only had two games against teams in the KenPom top 20 and they've been blown out in both of them. And in both games, the other teams shot at least 50% from the field.

UVA is 61-8 against ACC teams not named FSU in the last stretch. Against FSU he is 2-3, including a loss in the ACCT before they won the National Championship. I wasn't surprised that we won or that we did it by such a margin because we negate UVAs approach with our own approach to both ends of the floor.

They want you to shoot from 3, and we do that exceptionally well this year. We also switch 1-5 and don't really end up giving easy interior passes up to punish that approach. They like to use all 30 seconds and are frighteningly efficient at the end of that, but last night they just couldn't make shots due to our position and energy level.

Teams that beat us need to either hope we get complacent, or hope that they have someone go crazy like the kid from Wake the other night who made 7-8 from 3 and almost shocked us. In all but one ACC game this year, we've lead by double digits. And we also lead by double digits when we cratered against UCF earlier this year. It is the other edge of playing so many guys sometimes, and I've seen our rotation get a little smaller in terms of minutes distributed lately. Hopefully it turns out to be a difference maker for us in March

The way to consistently beat FSU is to have guys who can make one-on-one plays off the bounce. Guys who can get into the lane and finish around the rim, which then results in a defense helping too much and open guys in the corner for kick outs.

Teams like GT have that with Jose Alvarado. UVA just doesn’t have guys quick enough to do that other than Clark and he’s too small.

There are different teams every year. This year's UVA team has looked out of place against both top 20 teams they've played this year. It looks like UVA has largely taken advantage of an unusually bad ACC. I agree that FSU looks to have more potential in March if they put all the pieces together.

Yeah, I re-evaluated my opinion of their team after they lost to San Francisco, but then their record started to look a bit better. But really, the good teams they have played this year have beaten them handily. Zags, VT and now FSU. Their system puts teams into a discomfort zone that makes it really hard to overcome if you don't have veterans. They force you to make mistakes and then shoot the ball very well because you begin to press to try and overcome how they overwhelm you on defense
