UNC @ Michigan gameday thread

Dang, man. You have a coach blaming officiating for losing and chiding his fans and you are worried about a teenager saying positive things about his school.
This is a pretty weak take on a coach defending his player from ridiculous internet backlash. Nice try though.

He was one of the top point guards in the country. Also highly ranked qb coming out of hs in football. Bobby Bowden wanted him real bad, but he chose unc. Said he was staying in college until he got a shoe contract.
He was a bust in basketball.
He only played 1/2 seasons in basketball. He could never join the team till football season was over.

Lol, that's a great take, tw. Every kid in America gets backlash from idiot fans. I'm talking about the expectations. The kids were pumped up as the greatest team in years and they lost. Him whining about officiating kind of perpetuates the notion he wants people to stop talking about. You can't make excuses for losing and then act like people should say you should dominate everyone. Even you guys should be able to see this.

He was not whining. He just said that they could have called a foul on a couple of plays at the end. He even said that it was not why they lost. You of all people should know what whining about officiating looks like. It is something you are good at.

Saying that isn't why you lost when bringing it up and acting exasperated about it is definitely using it as an excuse. It isn't the first time he has done it. You don't need a disclaimer if you are really saying something. You just don't agree because it is K.

Sounds like whining to me.

He brought it up specifically to defend Barrett. Not to make excuses. It's whatever. He probably shouldn't have brought it up anyways, but you are failing to acknowledge the context. For the sake of playing along with K, let's say he does get the whistle. Barrett sucks at free throws anyways.

I'm all about context. You guys should take that advice with Roy. There are ways to defend Barrett without saying, 'C'mon' and then going on about how it should have been a foul. Just say he was being an alpha and trying to make a play or something. Instead, he whined about the officials because he is a sore loser. I get it. I'm a sore loser as well. I just don't know why it is so hard for you guys to admit that your coach has a tendency to make excuses for losing now and then. He sort of has a history of blaming any Duke issues on anyone but Duke.

Thought playing powerhouses Elon and Wofford on the road was going to prepare UNC at Michigan. Guess not. What did Little do?

You are doing a whole lot of whining here. That's the only whining I have seen.

Wow. Talk about tinted glasses. I tend to notice that K is actually pretty good at taking on the responsibility for losses. And yeah, that wasn't whining. Discussing officiating isn't whining; it's part of the game, and in fact can be smart, because it lays a foundation for future similar situations. And complaining because a coach defends his kid against nameless internet assholes? Oh please.

Anyway, not really the point, and not the thread for it. Little's surface numbers look fine... is he generally playing well but not getting the time (Roy does love older players), or does he look like there are parts of his game that aren't quite up to snuff yet?

Nassir has the second highest Player Efficiency Rating on the team. He's a mere 0.1 behind Cam Johnson. If Little continues to play the role of the 6th man, rest assured just about every coach in the country will remind recruits of Roy's unwillingness to consistently play talented freshmen.

UNC’s OOC wins are looking scarce (besides Wofford and Elon). Only two more chances to get a decent win

(H) vs. Gonzaga
(N) vs. Kentucky

Man, the loser of UK/UNC will not have a lot of meat on their bones in OOC.

Yea, we need to capitalize against UNC and Kansas. There are some good wins to take in the SEC, but OCC hasn't been much outside of 3 or 4 games.

Not to mention having a frustrated fanbase... :(

Well, we do have Wilmington. With the new NCAA NET rankings they may end up higher than the 'Zags and UK.

He's top five on the team in minutes played. Williams is playing him consistently. He's never going to "Start" a player to better sell one and done's. And, as maddening as it must be at times for UNC fans, his way works.

With that said, Little needs to be on the floor in place of Brooks for UNC to become elite. And Williams needs to stop with the hockey sub lineups, at least in these big games. I think they were up on Michigan by 13 or something last night when he put in some Jedi line up and they blew the lead in like 2 mins.

I would rather Little replace Maye tbh. That won’t happen though. I would be ok with him replacing Brooks as well. They should be switching everything though. Regardless, the biggest issue is clearly three seniors who aren’t very good right now.

K just has a whiny tone to his voice. He always has sounded like that. Like Roy has always looked like Huckleberry Hound.

Shocking that it sounds like whining to UNC fans.
"ridiculous internet backlash", or his own fanbase? He wasn't talking to UNC or UK fans.
Internet backlash from supposed Duke fans.

Your bias is starting to show in a big way, starting to be hard to take you seriously. Everyone gets backlash but probably not to the degree Barrett was getting it or at least it was publicized. He defended his player as any coach should, beyond that you're reaching and clearly butt hurt about the attention Duke has been getting. I get it but don't feel the need to continue this back and forth as it goes nowhere.
