Tomorrow, NIKE joins the cheating party.

Whether or not Aventti is a scumball, there is still a chance he could have something that's pretty bad. I mean... it is mafia guys who end up ratting on fellow members of the mafia, right?

Any college basketball fan who blows this off I think is whistling past the graveyard.

Guy mad he lost his job. Needed leverage to get job back. Nike was like, “try me, bitch.”

From that, I’d suspect Nike did do their own investigation, concluding evidence was sparse at best, hence called the bluff.
or....they know they could never expect that idiot to not say something down the line and would rather do damage control on this then a coverup. Its impossible that nike wont have some dirt hit the fan. Too many people involved that have nothing to lose by providing info. Still cant remotely believe this idiot wold be involved in taking them down on anything.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I just want the rest of you guys to be in our world of shit. So I hope there actually is something to it.

Probably. The odds that a multi-billion dollar corporation were going to lay back and get deep dicked without putting up a fight against one man whose claim to fame is a washed up porn star, well, those odds were extraordinarily low.

If Wetzel got that information from somebody other than Avenatti, then the post would not say "Avenatti claimed"

We also do not know the timeline of when Wetzel talked to Avenatti prior to his arrest. It's totally possible Avenatti released info on the press conference, Wetzel inquired on behalf of Yahoo for a story leading into tomorrow, Avenatti provided a summary or details, and then Avenatti was arrested after the fact.

I’m talking about from here on. The details. I also don’t think Wetzel talked to Avenatti

Well, the fact Nike wouldn’t pay 25 million suggests the damaging info he has is less than 25 million, logic would suggest. If he legitimately had info to cost billions in cap share, strong possibility Nike would pay the money. So, there’s that.

...at least you're honest.
I mean if I were a coach and this was happening to my program I absolutely wouldn't want it to happen to my peers I see on the recruiting trail/tournaments/etc. But you guys are just fans like me. I want all of your schools to be investigated.

That is a possibility

How did Nike call his bluff when the dude announced a PC for tomorrow. Calling bluff means they said “try us.” Feds can’t know everything. Someone had to report it.

Nike probably reported what he said to the Feds, which got him arrested after the tweet. Seems like they didn’t want the possibility of him having info out.

Somebody needs reading lessons. He's missed the number of times where Duke and UK fans alike have said "Yeah, Nike very likely does the same thing that Adidas does."

Jordan Brand isn't an exception, hoss.
Ya because UNC is pulling in top recruit after top recruit.

Simple. If Nike was concerned about the damaging info, which will come to light if involves criminality, then the act of pressing charges makes it much more likely info comes to surface. So, they must know the potential damages of that information, which evidently is not that high or they wouldn’t be working with feds.

Of course there's a chance. There's also a chance that his client is full of shit and he exploits these people as a means of making money.

None of this means that Nike is clean or that Nike schools have nothing to worry about.

If Nike gets hit, I am sure it will be ALL of the big name teams that get hit as well. They aren't paying money to most schools but then skipping Kentucky or UNC or Duke.

“Client-1” is a coach of an amateur athletic union (“AAU”) men’s basketball program based in California. For a number of years, the AAU program coached by Client-1 had a sponsorship agreement with Nike pursuant to which Nike paid the AAU program approximately $72,000 annually.

AVENATTI stated, in substance and in part, that he represented Client-1, an AAU coach, whose team had previously had a contractual relationship with Nike, but whose contract Nike had recently decided not to renew. According to AVENATTI, Client-1 had evidence that one of more Nike employees had authorized and funded payments to the families of top high school basketball players and/or their families and attempted to conceal those payments, similar to conduct involving a rival company that had recently been the subject of a criminal prosecution in this District. AVENATTI identified three former high school players in particular, and indicated that his client was aware of payments to others as well.

3 high profile recruits out of Cali AAU in the past few years. Don't think we've gotten anybody off the west coast recently, unless I'm overlooking somebody.

Bagley is a lock. Who else?

LOL at UL and Iowa fans praying that UK is destroyed.......... HAHAHAHA ..... I might of been worried if this came out 5 years ago........... we havent been getting enough top 8 players the past 4 years for me to be worried.

AAU guy from Cali............ welp... UK is free and clear... no way in hell that guy has legit proof of any of our players....

I don't know man. I think Nike can get hit and no specific teams get anything major. Just seems to me there needs to be direct conversations recorded or some shit like that to implicate coaches/teams/etc.

Ding Ding ...winner winner chicken dinner

Look at the Dook & UK guys taking Nike’s side. You guys sound worried.
Isn't Jordan Brand a subsidiary of Nike? Remember the Nassir Little recruiting fiasco? Don't be overly confident, or do. They're all fishing in the same pond.

The Little fiasco is a good reason for UNC not to be worried tbh. They all but straight up said UNC won’t play their game.
