Tennessee should be a 1 seed..

Does LSU have any chance of a one seed if they win the SEC tourney?
Don't think so and as an LSU fan hope they don't get it however they probably deserve it.

The big decision is going to be the UT@AU game and if AU wins that game LSU will become a problem child for the committee. Imo if UT wins out they get the #1 seed although LSU winning out will give them the SEC Championship a double bye (locked in already) and #1 seed in the SEC T.

I am not ready to give Tennessee a one seed and I doubt that UK will go down in the SEC Tourney without a fight. Hopefully Travis will be back by then. Just remember last year when UT beat UK two times, yet the Cats whipped the Vols by 7 in the SEC Tourney finals. Of course it did not matter with the NCAA seeding. UK got screwed.

Tennessee beat the shit out of my Cats yesterday. It started with 8 minutes left in the first half. PJ Washington gets his second foul and the Cats were only two points down. The Vols build up the lead in those 8 minutes. UK could never get it back in the second half.

Free throws did not go. Herro could not shoot. Travis on the bench. Second worst loss this year.
Tennessee was the top #1 seed before the the UK loss. Most thought they fell to a #2 seed after UK and LSU and I agree with that. The UK win goes a long way to bringing them back to a lower #1 seed. UT could not have helped themselves any better than the fashion in which they beat UK.

I think UT pushed themselves back up to the #4 position of the #1 seed category, but everything is fluid. If they picked the seeding today, I believe that UT would be a #1 seed. IMO

Because Indianapolis wasnt basically a home game for UK?

Just think the game will be a little different. If you don’t, I don’t know what to tell you. Duke may win, but they haven’t played that well all year, and we haven’t played that poorly all year.Duke May very well win if that matchup happens, but I like revenge games in the tourney.

The NCAA committee does not take the SEC Tourney into mind if you win it, only will seed you lower if you don't win it. Last year UK won the SECT and was seeded lower than Tennessee and Auburn. If UK does not win the SEC Tourney they may well be a three seed.

Post Script: Della, UK got a good whistle yesterday. Imagine that. It is rare UK gets a good whistle on the road.

Bert for clarification, are you saying the SECT has no bearing on NCAA seeding? In your second paragraph, your first sentence appears to be contradicted with your last sentence?

Regarding the fouls yesterday, I think we fouled y'all more than you fouled us. I don't think the Refs had any bearing on the outcome. On second thought, I think some of the fouls called on Alexander were not really fouls and that foul on Turner was a clean block on a run out, but they aren't going to get everything perfect in any game.

Della, the SEC Tourney final game is on Sunday. The day they select the teams for the NCAA. If an SEC team loses it will be held against them. If they win it will not help them.

Do you understand the dichotomy?

This year Tennessee and LSU are probably going to be the number 1 & 2 seeds in the SECT. If they don’t get to the final game and win it they will be seeded lower. If they win it, they will not be seeded higher. Historically the NCAA selection has viewed the SEC as a weak sister conference. The ACC, Big 12 and B1G will get preference. It should not be that way but it is. Last year the SEC got 8 teams but all had shitty seeds.

Joe Lunardi is a joke. I know this sounds bizarre but there’s something called BracketMatrix that ranks bracketologists. Lunardi is ranked 68th. He’s just on the highest platform (ESPN) — If the selection show played right this second, Tennessee would be a #1 seed without a shadow of a doubt.

Worrying about TN’s projected seeding right now is pointless. Whoever wins the SEC tournament matchup will get the #1 seed and that’s the bottom line. If LSU (or someone else...) somehow wins, it’ll go elsewhere.

Don't think they will even use the SEC T at all for #1 seeding. Imo if UT beats MSU and AU to finish the SEC that will be good enough for #1 seed. LSU has a few bad losses and UT's record looks better with less bad losses.

They may still take UT as #1 even if they get beat by AU. Imo they have already made the call and it's a done deal.

No way UK wins 3rd matchup to win SEC T and UT still gets #1 seed.

What about LSU ? They would win the SEC and SEC T. and still not get a #1 seed and would deserve it over the other two.

UK would not win the SEC and that's enough right there to give it to UT before the SEC T even starts if they win out. If AU beats UT at home it really puts a lot of pressure on the committee to use the SEC T. which is something they haven't done in the past.

LSU is 9-2 Quad 1 games, which is very, very solid - but 7-3 in the Quad 2 games; that is what will set them back a bit. I think they're on the outside looking in, but it's still possible for them to get a 1 seed. UNC and the two Michigan schools still have an edge on LSU, so they ideally need to win out and have all three of the schools lose. Not likely, but possible.

Tennessee has to win out the regular season for a shot at #1 seed. At this moment UT is the best out of everyone not named: Duke, Gonzaga, and UVA regarding seeding.

Interesting thought. Initially I thought you’ve lost your mind but now that I actually give it thought, you have a point. Out of conference schedule is WEAK but beating UT and UK + SEC crown (which would mean beating one of them twice) definitely deserves a glance.

I think that would ultimately depend on what other teams do. No way Purdue is #1 seed but if they win the B1G - I’d give LSU the nod. Hard to give them that nod over MSU / UM if they were to win though. UNC would also have to lost final game vs Duke and lose in ACCT.

depends on when that game happens. if UK and Tennessee are playing for the championship on selection Sunday it will literally have no affect whatsoever (the brackets will be completed before the game takes place).

Actually it might. They might flip the seeds between the 2 if the lower seed beats the higher seed. Has happened before.

I am pretty confident that the committee has come out and said that they don't factor in the Sunday conference tournament games and that the bracket is set Saturday night/early Sunday morning but I could be wrong.

As it stands today I think they deserve a one seed. But I do think of the Big 12 plays out as it is today either KSU or TT deserves a 2 seed. A one seed does not want to see a 3 seed of TT in their bracket.

Last night, Lunardi released his latest projections for ESPN, which still have Kentucky as the one-seed in the Midwest Region, opposite No. 2 North Carolina:

Bracket Matrix average seedings:

Virginia: 1.00
Duke: 1.00
Gonzaga: 1.06
Tennessee: 1.58
Kentucky: 1.68
UNC: 1.81

Close race for the final #1 seed.

I honestly think that UNC might get a 1 over UK and UT.

If UNC wins Saturday and Duke wins ACCT, I believe UVA, Duke, and UNC will be 1’s.

As of today, I’d put UNC as a 1 seed for the way that they are playing.

We had a lot of bricks in that one. TBH, I would rather not play UK again this year.

Then explain how a no way pick could get in with the auto bid for the conference champion?

The committee isn’t going to discredit UK winning the SECT because UT fans fail to fill the seats in their backyard arena.
What kind of stupid drivel are you spewing? UT fans will be top 5 in attendance this year.

I don’t know anything about the attendance at the SECT. Someone mentioned that it’d be a heavy UK crowd. I could careless and noted the committee could careless if it’s all UK fans, all UT fans or bus loads of people from Idaho filling the seats.

(couldn't care less)

Tennessee ranked 8th last year and will be top 5 this year nationally. The event is in Nashville, Tennessee. There will be a lot of Vols and Cats there.
