UK held bama to 1.01 per possossion which isn't bad. The game plan centered around taking away the 3's and not caring much about the 2's. Cal said they couldn't beat us shooting 2's. the idea was to create as many possessions as possible. We're too good on transition and kept the to's down, scored a lot on their mistakes.
Z is able to step in and do the same thing's that Mitchell did. Playing 3 guards with Edwards at the 4 is a scoring machine. 28 pts in 6 minutes in one span.
Cal used this same philosophy against IU back in 2012. Create more possessions and just out score them. He wanted a shoot out.
Plus the rotation has been slimmed down a lot. We've lost some stinkers, but also have 3 wins against top 10 net teams. We do need to improve the consistency. I'm hoping Cal has figured that out with the trimmed down lineups.
Isn't that around 180 per game? Granted it was against one of the worst defenses in the NCAA.
I think this game has all the makings of a great game. Both teams have offense and defense. I can't wait.

SEC scheduling sucks big time, just about as much as SEC refs.
This year there are some teams that get a big break.
Kentucky plays Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas and Vandy twice. Only Vandy should be a sure win, except they can go off on anyone. Kentucky got a break by not having to play Auburn twice.
Tennessee and Florida were not given any favors either.
Hopefully next year with 16 teams the schedules will start to even out a little.

I didn’t expect UK to lose. There’s been a lot of SEC conference honking going on around here by fans of any team in that conference, but Mississippi St is a very me’h team. Still, a conference road win of any kind is definitely one to take.

For a good bit, the refs were calling every touch on us, but they stopped doing that early in the 2nd half.
Even though Reeves got 21 points, he was off.
Basically, Reed Sheppard showed everyone how you ball.
MSU isn’t a bubble team, not even close. They’re a top 5 defensive team with a ton of size that was on a 5 game winning streak.
They beat Tennessee and Auburn in that gym.
They’re probably a sweet 16 ceiling team, but damn, everyone is losing road ganes to teams a lot worse than this.
Purdue lost to OSU, duke lost to Wake, who then lost to ND, uNC lost to Syracuse, KU lost at home to BYU and @ Wva… any road win against a tournament team, is a good win.

If I was puffing out my chest I would’ve came here right after the game and done my puffing instead of waiting until 1:30 in the morning while I was taking a shit. Also you can call State a bubble team (they will make the tourney) but that don’t change the fact it’s hard to win there. Ask Tennessee and Auburn how it went for them down there! Adou or Edwards
Z
Sub Z as needed for breathers/foul trouble, effectiveness etc. Wagner goes in to spell the guards. But it won't happen and we'll get to see that horrific lineup at the start of games/halves until it we lose in March because of it
I think Dillingham off the bench is a smart move. If he's cooking, let him cook, but he's too loose with the ball.
DJ, Edwards and Dillingham off the bench, Reeves, Reed, Adou, Z and Mitchell in the starting lineup, but depending on matchups and who's playing well, I wouldn't mind Dillingham, or Edwards in there instead of Mitchell.
There is no other coach in the country that would have Edwards and DJ in there over Adou and Reed Sheppard.
They’re on bubble watches. ESPN has them on “should be in” but aren’t locked in.
I’m not saying it isn’t a fine win. Probable tournament team and you beat them on their court. That’s a good win. But coming here to brag about it seems more South Carolina than Kentucky.

I consider teams on bubble watch lists as being a bubble team, even if they should be in.
Every win in college ball matters, and I’m happy with each one. I just don’t consider a win over someone of Mississippi St’s level as being high enough to come here and flap gums. But to each their own.

Who cares if he wants to "beat his chest" about UK winning a tough road game against a likely tournament team in a thread designated specifically for SEC talk. Not like he went to the ACC thread to do this (that I am aware of)...
A bunch of freshmen going on the road in front of a sellout against a top 10 defense without 1 of only 3 non freshmen, is a massive win. I'll remind you, MSU was a 4.5 point favorite and had beaten Tennessee and Auburn in that gym.
Also, that was a quad 1 win.
Point to every team out there, minus maybe Houston and you see that everyone is losing to teams far worse than MSU and a lot of them are on the 1, 2, 3 and 4 lines.
Purdue is supposed to be miles ahead of the field, they lost to 3 teams (Nebraska, Northwestern and Ohio state) that MSU would dog walk right now.
Also, it's not who UK beat, it's how they did it and it's not like anyone is saying UK just beat the Lakers, we're bragging about Reed Sheppard and a damn good road win.

Think about the last 5 years though. It’s been one thing after another. Schaedon sharpe, injuries, players pouting, players pretending to be injured and pouting, losses at home to mid majors, 1 win in the tournament since 2019 and on and on and on.
It’s just nice to see UK turning it on at this time of year for once in 5 years and like I said, it's how UK won and the fact that they put up 91 on a top 10 defense.
Most other top 25 teams are losing these type of games right now, including North Carolina.

Refs are just flat ruining this Au v UT game. Everything is a foul. They aren't even at the 12 minute mark yet and both teams have at least 8 fouls.
