SEC / BIG12 Challenge Matchups Set

Does not know what sport is being argued here.

Does not matter. Great thread.
Alumni from major Texas universities are relentless when arguing with each about college sports. You hear at the bar, at work, at dinner parties, kids soccer games, randomly at the grocery store, etc. There is no time of the year that anybody takes off. There is no corner of the state where you can’t hear them either. They’re just absolutely relentless and have a passion for it that is as strong as anybody anywhere.

Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Sometimes TCU

The only universal truth that they can all agree upon is Fvck Baylor.

Looks like the Moody Foundation from Galveston is stepping up and placing their name on the new arena and securing UT a new practice facility.

Rendering of the new Moody Center at UT Austin. The location and appearance of the Moody Center name will be finalized in future renderings.

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin’s new basketball arena and events center will be named Moody Center in honor of a $130 million grant to UT from the Moody Foundation, which has generously supported universities, libraries, museums and hospitals across Texas for more than 75 years.

The grant to support Texas Athletics is the single largest gift from a foundation in the university’s history and brings to more than $200 million the donations to UT Austin from the Galveston-based foundation. Previously, the foundation contributed $50 million to support the Moody College of Communication and $20 million to reimagine and transform the exterior spaces at the Blanton Museum of Art. Overall, the foundation has contributed more than $260 million to institutions in the University of Texas System.

It is also among the largest gifts ever made to any university for a new arena. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Moody Center will be held Dec. 3 at the site of the arena south of Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Moody Center is expected to open in 2022.

“The Moody Center signals a new era for UT and Austin, providing fans and citizens the world-class experience they deserve in the world-class city we call home,” said Ross Moody, trustee of the Moody Foundation and chairman and CEO of National Western Life Group. “The Moody Foundation has a long history with this prestigious university and this wonderful community. We couldn’t be happier to partner with UT in this transformative gift to benefit future generations of Longhorns and Texans.”

I didn't see anything in the article about a new practice facility to replace the Cooley Pavilion. But that's neat y'all are getting a new arena.

Fun facts: John Denver (attended Texas Tech) set the record for attendance at the Frank Erwin Center.

BTW nice win over Purdue.

The arena is already paid for by the Oak View Group.
The Dell Medical School will be where the old arena is at.

Texas made a deal with the Oak View Group.
The naming rights by Moody will pay for the practice arena as well.

I guess Tech built a new one but Texas will go 3-4x better.

Maybe the new arena will attract more fans to the basketball games.

Maybe Tech can win in the new arena.

Since you have won in Austin once in the last 20 years.
Should start a new streak this year.

Shaka has to prove himself.
Too much to do in Austin to see an average team against Northern Colorado in basketball.

Since people in Austin can't be bothered to watch Longhorn basketball we could make it our home away from home.

We won in Austin last year so it would just be picking up where we left off.

It is a bummer missing out on both. I hope we'll recover.

Cunningham is a scorer. Just a huge guard that as a teenager looks and plays like a grown man.
Going to put up huge numbers his one year at Oklahoma State.

Brown...
He can do more and become a better player
But his length and athleticism are elite.

Kentucky isn't doing too bad though.
Thing is...
Brown and Cunningham have played AAU ball for awhile together.
That is always a plus.

I like the Chicago guard.
Truthfully he should be a good player in the Big 12

Fits what Beard wants to do.

But Cunningham, Thompson and Greg Brown are going elsewhere
You struck out on all three.

You keep bringing up Thompson, but Tech basically quit recruiting him once we found out about the mutual interest with Burnett. I’ve never heard Cunningham’s name mentioned once on our boards so I doubt we were after him. We did miss on Gethro Muscadin and Brown was basically a offer from casting a wide net. It’s been known forever that he was a UT lean.

There is no use in attempting to reason with this man. Texas is still the premiere program in the state, can get any player or coach they want whenever they want, and little brother needs to remember their place in the heirarchy of the Big 12 and within the state.

Your insecurity about Chris Beard leaving for Texas is entertaining.
Beard has not accomplished anything more than Shaka Smart has.

I am not one to say steal Chris Beard after the season.
I, truthfully, think this roster is perfect for Shaka and will be even better next year.

But if Shaka fails.
Why would Texas pick Beard over Billy Donovan.
Donovan would be #1.

For you to somehow think that Tech out in West Texas has somehow positioned themselves in front of Texas after one year goes to show how delusional your thinking is.

Great program and should be able to compete longterm.

But so is Baylor.
So is Cougar High

I really can't wait to roll in to TT for the first time since '65 and lay another huge member of an L across everyone's faces.

The bottom part of the L is the balls the vertical line is our shaft.

IIRC, I have an avatar bet with someone (too lazy to look it up), If not, I'll gladly sign up for one.

The worst thing about his match up is it took away a chance for UK to play at KU. That's total BS. TT had a good run and now they get to play UK? GTFO

I’d be more worried about Evansville right now

I'm not worried about Beard leaving for Texas. Beard has actually won a game in the Final Four. Shaka Smart has not.

I'd argue Houston is probably a better program than Texas all-time. UTEP has a NC and Texas does not. Baylor's made it to a Final game meanwhile Texas never has. Yall are better than TCU and A&M though. Winking

I believe I'm your huckleberry. Gonna feel real good reordering the power structure of college basketball with another statement win for the new blue blood of college basketball.

Also home loss to Evansville?
