Self has lost in the 1st or 2nd round 7 out of the 17 NCAA tournaments at Kansas. That’s just awful. Loses 33% if the time in the 1st weekend. Mostly because of the same damn strategy to force feed the ball inside and double team the post leaving shooters wide open. Self’s stubbornness will always be his biggest issue as a coach.
Creighton is a streaky team but one that can grind
Once again Gonzaga is another question. Same as the B1G and Big 12.
Especially since their resume was built with those teams
They aren’t that streaky. Gonzaga is going to have to have a horrible night shooting.
Really it is going to take a team like USC. USC would beat Gonzaga tonight. No doubt in my mind. Hell, Gonzaga wouldn’t even need to have an off night shooting. USC would beat them straight up.
The question is why Kansas was every given a 3 seed. USC being a 6 seed was laughable

Also you do realize Gonzaga is 8th in AdjD, right? AND.....they average 93ppg. AND...Creighton is 30th AdjD....avg's 76ppg...

Eye tests wise this KU team looked like a 5 seed at best. Probably more like a 6-7 seed. The hype for the B1G and Big 12 really propped up some crappy teams.

Yes it is laughable. KU is used to having underseeded teams in our bracket.
KU should have been a 4. Their resume was a 4. Though with our covid issues we are more like a 6.
USC tonight is a 1 seed. Nobody would beat them when they play like this. The reason they aren’t seeded higher is because they take games off. Looking at their schedule and having watched them this year a couple of times, they take games off. And they aren’t a good shooting team. Tonight’s performance was a once a year type performance. Sometimes a team gets hot. KU has been on the other end of it before and embarrassed some good teams. Been on the other end too.
I said it could have been both.
You usually worry about this with teams that have a bunch of losses but no huge OOC wins

11-16 now. Don’t worry though. They’ll go 1-16 in their next game. That’s the way it goes. Oregon fans can thank us now.

This is true. Oregon probably won’t give up countless open 3s either though.
Yes it is. I’ve watched them throw up bricks 3 out of their 4 games that I’ve watched them this year. You can’t tell me this performance is remotely normal. USC is not a good shooting team, and Kansas has been very good statistically against the three this year.
SHit is aggravating as a fan....11/17 from three, from a team not very good shooting team.
Does Oregon suck? They were up 26 on you guys before they cooled off. The difference is they never cooled off tonight.
Kansas never looked that good to me this year, but this loss is kinda surprising. Down 30 with a minute left. Damn.
Again, does Oregon suck? Cause USC brought this kind of performance against you for 30 minutes. This is more about USC just going off. At least they let the gas off the pedal against you at the end of the game, where as they kept their feet on our throats the whole 40. If USC brings this kind of focus and effort against you guys, they will flat out murder you.
Fortunately for you they probably won’t play remotely this well. Just thank us that we took it for you.
USC has the stroke tonight and they were an awful matchup for KU with that crazy length. Still 34 pts is surprising. Thought if KU lost it would be by 10-15 not 34.
