Place to put my Nonsense Thread.

There's compelling evidence that a skinny person thinking they're fat is a mental illness. But no compelling evidence that a man thinking they are a woman is a mental illness.

Folks, this is further proof (as if we needed it) that liberalism is in fact, a mental illness.

Do you have somebody put your pants on for you in the morning or do you somehow figure that out by yourself?

I pretty much got shit figured out. Learned it fairly early in life.

Anorexia and body dysmorphia are mental illnesses. There’s no compelling evidence that identifying as one gender or the other is a mental illness; it likely is not. That’s one key difference. The other key difference is the health consequences. There’s nothing inherently unhealthy about identifying as one gender or the other. There are health consequences to eating disorders.

The suicide rate is more than 10x the national average. No biggie.

Transgenderism isn't a mental illness, but it was a few years ago. Makes sense.

It's rubbish. The same way the left is trying to change the meaning of words, they're also trying to destigmatize serious mental issues. I've heard one psychologist speak on why DSM no longer labeled it as a mental illness, and he believed it was because the profession is being heavily influenced by ideologues. Look at the mental health professions; it's a 9:1 ratio of registered democrats to republicans (according to verdantlabs). So, they have all the power they want to change the meaning of anything. Interesting enough, gender dysphoria is still labeled as a mental illness in other countries.

Oh god. You’re going to say Liberal Agenda now, aren’t you?

Elon Musk wants to privatize Twitter. Deal could be worth more than $40 Billion. This was Musk's letter to Bret Taylor, the chairman of Twitter.

Bret Taylor

Chairman of the Board,

I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy.

However, since making my investment I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company.

As a result, I am offering to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced. My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.

Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it.

I didn't say that, now did I? I said it was heavily influenced by ideologues (and I was only referencing what a clinical psychologist thought on the matter).

If the majority of a group believe a certain way, why would there be much resistance? It's simply like-minded people coming to a consensus. I'm sure there was pushback to keep the status-quo, but obviously not enough. And again, gender dysphoria is still classified as a mental illness in other countries.

Smells like he is trying to manipulate the share price

Some countries aren't afraid to call a spade, a spade. Our country has to walk a fine line while even saying ther term, "call a spade, a spade".
True, and our own citizens fail to recognize this. The left will say how America is so racist and close minded, when in reality, the country goes out of its way to accommodate a small minority of people who think they are victims. Its honestly disgusting.

He's also a big free speech advocate. It's a major talking point with him. Either way, he has the upper hand in this. Twitter either relinquishes control of the company - or its share price will plummet. The board would not being their fiduciary responsibility if they pass on this offer.

We're just so afraid to call something normal. It goes to the... 'who are you to decide what is normal' argument. If there is no normal, then everything is normal. These people's conditions are being exploited by a political party for the image of compassion. The regular joes like brooky aren't rationalizing and defending the lunacy because their beliefs are firm. But because their dedication to rationalizing and defending their political party is firm. It doesn't matter how irrational or indefensible the topic is.

He has the money, presumably, to do what he wants. Whether or not Twitter goes private will go to a shareholder vote, rather than the board deciding.

He could also just buy 51% at a lower premium than he just announced and make the decision himself. That’s why I’m skeptical of his motives.

I see where you're coming from, but if it was just for a money grab he would have already sold his shares for an insane profit. Bought 73.12 million shares and its been up ~$10 a share.

Yeah, I'm actually curious why he wouldn't want to go the 51% majority-owner route. I do find that a bit odd. Looks like Twitter generated $3.7 B in revenue in 2020. Seems like it would be difficult to actually generate enough revenue to offset the some $40 B he'll have to pay to privatize it.

No doubt there are republicans that do the same thing, but for the most part, I feel like the pubs that post in this thread can call out stupid ideologies or policies. I could go on a rant about a number of things I disagree with conservatives on. But my beliefs align more easily with theirs, and I happen to think that this extreme is the lesser of two evils.

I defend what makes sense. I don’t feel a duty to defend Liberals.

What makes sense to me doesn’t make sense to some of you. So be it. Some of your are pretty smart. I’m pretty smart. Smart people don’t always see eye-to-eye.

Some of you arrive at your opinions independently, to as much of a degree as that is possible. I arrive at my opinions independently, to as much of a degree as that’s possible. I don’t have Liberal sounding boards that I talk to regularly. I don’t consume my news from liberal outlets, I hear about a story and seek out the info, some times better than other times. Some of you do this, too.

Oh snap! Elon says there is a Plan B. I can only assume Plan B is buying 51% of the stocks? One way or another, I think Elon gets control of Twitter.
