I don't like presidents or VPs visiting active disaster sites. It does take up a lot of resources of the local communities who could spend that time actually helping instead of standing around for hours. JMO.
Yeah, there is no need for the dog and pony show during stuff like that. They need all hands on deck during situations like that, especially when there are still missing people that have not been accounted for. It's not the time to have the logistical nightmare of having the president in town and tasking dozens of local law enforcement personnel to be occupied with essentially babysitting the president.
There’s no chance that the President visiting Waukesha would’ve been a been a net negative for the community. Like Brooky said, despite Waukesha being such a brutal attack it was out of the mainstream news cycle in days. The publicity of the President visiting alone would’ve opened a lot of eyes nationwide at how brutal it was and how much financial help was needed for victims. I’d bet you could probably probably double the GoFundMe support I linked if people “knew about Waukesha”. Instead they sent Jill Biden and Kamala Harris’ husband.
Bringing as much attention and support to a terror attack as possible isn’t a dog and pony show. It’s what the president should do.
