Just got to get the proper documentation. Lots of people here claim they have enough Cherokee blood to receive money from the tribe; they just haven't been able to "prove it." That always makes me laugh. I mean, you only need to be 1/16 to qualify. It's freakishly generous.
Kids can't tap into their funds until they're 18. They put the funds into annuities - and once it matures, I want to say they get around $250,000. Crazy. And yet, we have grants and scholarships all over the region that are reserved for the "underserved" Native American community. The tribe is also picking up 4 years of free schooling for any enrolled member. I know a Cherokee girl that just graduated from Cornell, all 4 years paid for by the tribe. The idea that white people are better off than some Natives is ridiculous. They have so many advantages. It'll be great for my kids and all. But, they have a distinct advantage over almost everyone in this area.
I guess you could say my kids will have white privilege & Native American privilege.
My father discovered two years ago that we're related to Pocahontas. She's my 10th great-grandmother. Which really isn't a big deal because when you go that far back she probably has over 100,000 living descendants. Not a legal expert, but would be kind of fun to sue Disney for not compensating family members for the usage of her name and likeness. Don't know if that would actually have a legit shot at winning anything, but kind of fun to speculate.
I see what tour saying but im not able to come up woth many scenarios where mixed kids are advantaged bc they are half white? Oppressed bc they are half black, possible/probable. But i cant see any advantages they would get outside if their white parent was rich and powerful, which really has nothing to donwith the convo.

I actually overheard a Native say that to an immigrant that was complaining about how horrible America was. "If you hate this country so much, why don't you go back to where you came from." Something along those lines. Made me laugh. I'm thinking Natives can say that and not have any pushback. It might be racist to actually challenge them on that issue.

And a significant polemical question might be, how would you determine who gets the land, if you're trying to return everything in fairness? The tribe that originally had the land - or the tribe that won over the land in tribal warfare?
I love not paying property taxes. Also, anything that is shipped to our house is tax free. When we buy a car, the taxes are also exempt. Seriously, so many advantages even before you tap into the casino money. Love it.

haha that's the proper way to game the system lol. I think Native American women are attractive, personally. A lot of them get tattoos, which takes their appeal away a little bit, IMO. But, there are plenty of attractive Native women.
Your house has to be on a federally recognized Indian reservation to be exempt from property taxes. So, you'd have to sort-of embrace the whole reservation lifestyle to some extent. But, there are so many benefits to being Native. The tribe here really looks after their people... free dental, free prescriptions, medical appointments (including specialists, so long as you get a referral). And what I'm really looking forward to is they cut your lawn if everyone in the household is 70 or over. And yes, tax exemptions and casino money is nice, too. Good stuff.
I think the hard part of qualifying is finding a relative on the rolls, not the 1/16th part. May not be that hard though if family kept certain records, etc...

im on the fence on tatoos, some are sexy, some are trashy. Sadly alot of that depends on the hotness of the woman they are on and location. I dont like the arm sleeves much but its not a deal breaker. Face/neck tatoos idk shed have to be super fine.

Genealogical records of Native Americans is pretty sparse. My wife's grandmother is 92 and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know anything about her family beyond her own grandparents. Hard to track down the ancestral lines.
Just for the record, I think my wife is hot. I did not marry her for the money aspect lol.

Chalk me up as a German 3rd generation on my mom's side, 2nd Generation on my dad's side. That's not counting my great grandparents's and grandparents' as generations. I know. Nazi. But my grandfather on my dad's side got his and his sister's citizenship by fighting against the German nazis in the US Army. Also fought in Japan.
