OT: 2018 NFL discussion thread.

Andy Reid is something like 6th all-time in postseason wins and has 6 conference title game appearances.

And now he has an MVP QB that isn’t even in his prime yet. I think he’ll be fine in the postseason moving forward.

Last night wasn’t on Reid, aside from the decision to retain Bob Sutton this year.

And he is 1-5 in those games. You are the only one who doesn’t think he is a chocker.

By your logic, Sean Payton must be terrible. He’s had one of the greatest QBs ever for almost 15 years and has only reached the conf title game three times and won once.

In fact, by your logic, virtually every coach but Belichick sucks (or has too small of a sample size to judge),

I give up, you’re right, Andy Reid is amazing and his 1-6 record in Conference Champions games and Super Bowls is just bad luck.

Well, luck is a factor sometimes. If Dee Ford doesn’t inexplicably line up offsides, Belichick is flying back to Foxboro with his tail between his legs.

But you’re right. The guy who turned a terrible franchise into a perennial winner within two years, then transformed a 2-14 KC team into 11-5 the next season (and a perennial winner) must really suck at coaching.

I mean, how do you lose to a handful of HOF QBs (including two vs the GOAT QB and coach) when you have a non-HOF QB and first year starter? What a choker...

Fvck you’re dumb.

Says the ****** who calls Reid a choker when he loses to more talented QBs and/or the greatest coach of all time.

You could argue that two of his conference title games were chokes. Hard to make that argument for a pair of games vs the Patriots and two road games vs Kurt Warner.

Hey, Andy....how in the hell did your team that was expected to finish 8-8 manage to lose to a team that plays in the SB every year?

You were projected 9.5-6.5 with a 41% chance to win your division, the highest of all the AFC West teams. I didn’t say Andy wasn’t a good coach, I stated that he chokes in the playoffs. And he does choke, you are probably one of the few who doesn’t want to admit that.

Exactly....and Payton did make a huge clock blunder that hurt his team sunday.

can you refute what he said? By this logic isn't Payton a choker?

He's choked a few times, but the primary problem has been too much loyalty to a terrible DC and lack of a HOF QB. Not poor decisions or gameplanning.

It will be hilarious to read all the "How did Andy Reid get over the hump?" articles in coming years, as he's piling up AFCC and SB appearances.

Sean Payton has a Super Bowl win. Laughing

Jesus you Chef fans are the worst
Not a Chief fan. Sean Payton has also had one of the best QBs ever for a little bit if you weren't aware.

Too bad Brees couldn't help with his clock management disaster in the last game.

Reid has appeared in twice as many conference title games and has never had a HOF caliber QB. Payton has had nearly 15 years of the guy who holds most major records.

But he won a SB and Reid lost by 3 vs the GOAT. Clear superiority!

I’m not blaming him for Dee Ford’s mistake. I’m blaming him for not scoring a point in the first half. Its vintage Andy Reid in a big game. Yes if Dee Ford doesn’t make that mistake, he is going to the Super Bowl. But he did because he is coached by Andy Reid and thats what Andy Reid teams do, they fvck up when everything is on the line. Its absolute insanity that you guys don’t think Andy Reid is a choker.

What is insanity is you think a guy who has been taught since Pop Warner where to line up failed because of his coach.

But you are funny.

Who cares. Call it what you will. This shit's manipulated in favor of profit and always has been.

Amazing coincidence that a team in a market that the NFL is desperately trying to promote won due to an inexplicable no-call. That was the kind of play in which, under normal circumstances, you'd see flags flying from every ref on the field. Yet they all missed it?

The Ford offsides would normally draw a warning. Earlier in the game, they called roughing the passer for a tap on Brady's shoulder pad, extending the drive. Have you ever seen calls like this go against the Patriots?

While you don't want to blame Reid for the offside (rightly) you want to blame the refs?

You think they fixed the first game and the best they could do was get it to OT? was Brees in on it as well to throw that pick? Payton for his clock mismanagement? Thomas for the drop on 1st down earlier in the drive?

The NFL cared so much about LA they stayed out of the area for most of the millennium.

The NFL doesn’t fix games. If they did Buffalo and Cleveland would both have a Super Bowl.

I don't believe in "fixes" per se. But I absolutely believe in bogus calls or non-calls in opportune situations to give desired markets a boost.

And I definitely believe that they work to keep big-time games close to maintain the TV audience. I've seen examples again and again.

Giving a city a boost with a bad call is fixing the game. You think a ref is going to open himself up to ridicule (some have been fired) to "keep a game close"? come on.

And why would they care about the market? The TV money is in already.

As an Eagle fan, I loved Andy Reid. My biggest problem with him is tried to overthink the game.
He reminds me of Sean Payton. Run the ball at the end of the game & the Saints are more than likely in the Super Bowl.

Have to give the edge in the Super Bowl to New England. If there are people still doubting this man Tom Brady, they need to stop right now. The best of all time.

Also agree with the narrative the Andy Reid comes up small in big games. Seems to happen every year.

Just glad mine and @crazyqx83 bugles are setting themselves up for an amazing year next yr. we are going to hire Taylor, just named Brian Callahan the OC, del rio, will end up being our Dc. Bill Callahan will leave the redskins to become line coach which is awesome, we may get press Taylor also. Things are looking up. We have some good pieces with fresh eyes. All we need is a good draft and a couple free agents and our bungles will be in competition next yr. can’t wait to see what Taylor does to get us to the promised land, which is just a playoff win to start!

At least you'll man up and admit your gaffe (and I never doubted you would). still know an Eagle fan who said before the season the NFC was far better than the AFC and named 6 teams in NFC better than everyone in AFC.

No mea culpa.

Might be true, but often not his fault. Ford stays on side and game is over. And not like he has had a Brady or Brees the last 10-15 seasons. He usually loses to a team with a better QB than he has.

Would add divisional round games are big games, too, and he often wins those.

Agree with Brady comment.

could happen.....but I think many teams looking for their McVay need to realize there might not be another. Look past age.

Yea, I’m never scared to eat my words. Happens a lot Laughing

BTW, never gave you a congrats on the W this year. Probably because beating us isn’t much to brag about. I do love me some Baker. I like what he brings to the game and find myself cheering for him.

Reid has had a disproportionate amount of flukery occur in the playoffs.

Colts RB fumbles, ball flies and bounces off a lineman’s helmet and falls conveniently into Andrew Luck’s arms as he dives into the endzone.

Marcus Mariota throws a TD pass to himself.

Dee Ford lines up in the neutral zone.

Holding is called to negate a game-tying score vs Pitt.

Just to name a few. You can’t make this crap up.

Fortunately, with Mahomes, he likely won’t need the lucky bounces that he needed with Alex Smith or any of the other average or mediocre QBs he’s had throughout his career.

didn't even think about this until a few weeks after the game. Can't believe we didn't even talk leading up to it.

I remember before the season so many said how tough our schedule was and playing NFC South was a main reason. Tried to explain it's the NFL. Never know year to year what to expect.....especially from the NFC South. Atlanta and Carolina were certainly less than was expected. And, yeah, Carolina was in a tough stretch when we played.

Cannot believe the Browns and the fans can actually focus on the draft and do not need to focus on QB.....and are more excited for next season than the draft.

Was not opposed to Baker at #1 but thought it would be Darnold so cannot pretend I knew what to expect. Hopefully, this limits the notion teams cannot draft short QBs or QBs from the B12 (Mahomes should help to dispel that myth as well). I want accurate and smart as the top 2 criteria of a QB.

Two week avatar bet that it will be Kansas City vs LA Rams in the Super Bowl, 1 year avatar bet that one of those teams will be in the Super Bowl?

*added.

The two weeks will be of the winner's choice DURING college basketball season.
I was pretty close.
I will bet you the Rams do not make the Super Bowl. KC I can see, not LA. NFC is too stacked and they have no playoff experience other than a loss last season
You got the 1/2 wrong.
