Had you read the book prior?

funny, I moderate a movie club 2x a month.

Nice. We aren’t in a club but my wife and I really like movies. We do a podcast that’s mostly centered around movies/movie trivia.

Nope. I’m familiar with the importance of Dune and I watched a video giving me a quick into to the main family, planet, and spice.

Dark Knight
1917
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Dune

That’s probably the top 5 theater experiences of my life in no order. Not necessarily my top 5 favorite movies but in terms of what they were like on the big screen with theater sound.

The movie club is an excuse to hang out with old friends. There is a good mix of movie buffs and casuals.

I have it queued up in Audible, and I have been deliberating between waiting to get through that 20+ hrs and seeing it.

Dark Knight was on my list. I did not watch the LotR series in theaters, unfortunately. I really liked Interstellar in iMax. Similarly, not one of my favorite movies, but I'm a sucker for anything related to space travel.

I didn’t see interstellar in theaters because it came out in a time where I thought I had to go to the movies with my wife or not at all and she only agreed to watch that one at home.

Now I go to a lot of movies she has no interest in solo or with a buddy or two. Wife and I have no problem going to the theater together and watching separate films sometimes.

Interstellar was one I wish I had seen in iMax - it was still really good in a regular theater setting.

1917 and Gravity - both in iMax - are the best movie-going experiences I've had to date. Looking forward to checking out Dune in the next couple weeks.

We just lost this PWO wing who averaged 5/3 at Western Michigan last year for the season. Some ankle injury. Apparently he had a shot at some playing time because we’re so thin on the wing. Definitely puts more pressure on Pierre Brooks.

That’s Frank’s series. Apparently book 6 ends in a huge cliffhanger, but he died so his son took over. Haven’t gotten that far yet. Not even sure I will read the whole series.
I was planning to watch Dune sometime this week, but I’m going to take your advice and read the book first. I wanted the others just in case.

Imma put this out there so I don't get lumped in. I'm still in a wait and see approach with Woodson. He talks the talk but I still gotta see how they play. It's like dating a hot ass single mom as a childless guy. " Yeah I love kids", played with his nephew for 30min at thanksgiving, then the kid becomes a little ****head and annoying as shit after he's there all the time. You hit it for a few months and had your fun and don't put the effort in you thought you would. Kinda how I could see it going.

I watched the movie without reading the book and it’s one of the best movie experiences I’ve ever had. You don’t need to read the book first if you watch a quick YouTube video (5-10 minutes) explaining the universe. I’m shocked hearing some people were lost throughout it. Its not meant to be confusing in the way Christopher Nolan movies are.

I’m in the same boat. Excited based on what he has done so far, but I’m not jumping full in until I see results unlike Archie where I jumped in from the get go.

Yea it’s not super confusing, but there are things that aren’t really explained. I’m sure the director’s cut has more scenes that go into more detail about the things it glanced over.

To the fans of teams used to seeing stuff like this in the preseason, which I sure as s--t am not, this doesn't jinx us, right?

Did you like the books?

I haven't read them yet, but my brother enjoyed them.
Gotcha.

Working my way through a decent backlog of fantasy stuff, but may add this to my long list as I liked the movie. I didn't even realize it went to theaters - kind of regretting watching at home now.

I was mainly confused why a dude from the far distant future was named Duncan Idaho.

I’d recommend watching it again.

You finished 5th.
You lost to two sub 100 teams.
You played 5 more games. Illinois would have to win 3/5 to match.
Illinois led the nation in Quad1 wins by several games over everyone but Ok St who had 1 less.
Indiana played a KenPom 40+ ranking in the second round, but Illinois played a top 10 in that same spot. It was one more tournament win against a worse opponent. You should hang a banner for it.
Illinois’ EM on KenPom is significantly better. Indiana was measurably worse, bro.
That was a good team. This team should be good too.
Indiana was 9th in KenPom in 2012----In a conference that had OSU #2, MSU #2 and Wisky #8.
Illinois was #4 in 2021....Michigan was 3rd, Iowa 7th,

Iowa was 101st---Not the end of the world loss....Nebraska was a head scratcher.

Loyola got their ranking due to the previous year....They hung around b/c the beat up a bunch of shit teams. Their best wins were Drake(55th), and Missouri State(88th). Their KP rated was severely inflated.

In 2012, Indiana beat #1 Kentucky, #2 Ohio State, #5 Michigan State, #16 Michigan and #20 NC State(@ NC St). All SW 16 teams or better(except UM); UK(Champs), OSU(FF), MSU and NC State SW 16

IU being a 4 seed was crazy. And had they been in any other region other than UK, there's a very good chance they get to the FF; had they beaten UK, Hoosiers would have dog walked Baylor.

I'd put 2012 Indiana vs Illinois 2021, any day of the week.
