Pro tip:I haven't been to any other football stadiums. Going to start making that a yearly thing though. Unfortunately, most of my friends and my girlfriend don't care about college sports, so it's hard to get a group to go.
Get new friends.

I honestly always feel like Champaign-Urbana feels a lot like WL-Lafayette.I’ve been to West Lafayette, Columbus, and East Lansing visiting friends. Columbus was cool. I was surprised at how bad EL was. WL was exactly as bad as I anticipated.

I’d heard that too, but I didn’t get that feeling when I went. Either way, they’re both fine places, but they’re not the best.I honestly always feel like Champaign-Urbana feels a lot like WL-Lafayette.
I haven't been to EL since it was Drew Brees going up against Plaxico Burress lol.
2 years agoWhen was the last time you were in WL?
Yep. Not bad, but not as good as some of the better college towns in the B1G.I’d heard that too, but I didn’t get that feeling when I went. Either way, they’re both fine places, but they’re not the best.

CU has changed a lot in the last 10 years and quite a bit in the last 3 years. I'm sure WL has made similar improvements.Yep. Not bad, but not as good as some of the better college towns in the B1G.
I have friends that like college sports. My core friend group that I travel and golf with prefer professional sports or no sports at all.I’m sure your friends are cool. I have plenty of friends that don’t like college sports. The surprising part is you haven’t met other friends that do share an interest in college sports.
There's a video on YouTube of some guy driving down Green St (the main street that runs through campus) in the 90s, and it's crazy the differences. It's nearly unrecognizable in some parts. In the video, there were no buildings more than 4/5 floors, and now there are mid and high-rises. So much money to be made on college campuses.Ahh I see. It’s crazy how much it’s changed the last few years. I know I’m biased but it’s improved a ton since I’ve graduated 10 years ago. Once Chauncey is updated (close to where Harry’s is), it’ll help a ton.

That's fair. Glad you weren't trolling that. I thought you'd gone off the rails. It really isn’t the insult that you took it as. It just surprises me. We are all college sports degenerates and I’d figure most of us have some ride or die college sports enthusiast friends.

My college friends were mostly engineers and physics majors, and I only encountered a handful that didn't consider it a waste of time. My former college roommate is a CFB coach in the SEC, so he wouldn't have time to do that sort of stuff in the first place. Most of the rest have moved out of Illinois if you can believe that.
I come here for the barstool talk. I'm no better than that lol. Most of my friends in college are the barstool sports type. Probably says worse about me than you lol. But I’ve never had a shortage of people willing to waste money on going to games.
I’ve been to Ann Arbor for basketball. Crisler is a nice arena and really no bad seat in the place, but the pep band plays the UM fight song over and over and over and over. It’s all they play. So be prepared for that for two straight hours. Also, the arena is kind of a bitch to get to. Long walk especially in the cold.Thinking about Ann Arbor for basketball this year. Have a colleague friend that’s Michigan fan who wants to do a home away. Would love to go for football sometime.
When we play Michigan in basketball, we dont give the pep band any reasons to play.I’ve been to Ann Arbor for basketball. Hail, not all of us live in the past. How quickly you forget the Beilein era! The north remembers.
You gotta go for football. Town doesn’t come alive for basketball nearly the same way.Thinking about Ann Arbor for basketball this year. Have a colleague friend that’s Michigan fan who wants to do a home away. Would love to go for football sometime.
Indiana has sucked as of late.English please
Isn’t talking about beating Michigan last year living in the past?Hail, not all of us live in the past.
I think you can understand the difference between the most recent season and 10 years ago. It’s subtle, but I think you are capable.Isn’t talking about beating Michigan last year living in the past?
I don't blame you for not wanting to live in yore past 15 years.Hail, not all of us live in the past.
Fvck youI don't blame you for not wanting to live in yore past 15 years.![]()
That's why I said "I know". I figured that was clear but i guess not.Indiana has sucked as of late.
I do understand Illinois fans being excited over mediocrity but that's all it is.

What does me posting to an Indiana Fan have to do with you? What does me telling you to stop living in the past about Indiana have to do with Illinois?

I was just trying to be helpful to let you know where else you could take your obsession.
Not at all you should make another thread about Illinois basketball and responded to more posts about Illinois. I love it.It bothers you that I responded to your post to an Indiana? Don’t be so sensitive.

Stop living in the past
My God.Couldn't care less about the past. Its irrelevant. Last year......5 years ago....10, 15, or whatever. This year has nothing to do with last year---or the previous 20,
candidate
I cafe about this year. And for the first time in a good minute, I actually feel good about the team we have. Not hope. But seriously like the pieces. Experience...POY candidate....FOY candidate(Yes I think Bates will be that good). Johnson/Stewart are huge upgrades. But then again, gotta consider who they are replacing;Although Franklin was becoming solid, I still like Stewart better, and especially Bates(who will eventually start). Kopp is a nice addition---who can shoot it. I think Geronimo has a huge ceiling..
Johnson-6"3
Stewart-6"5"
Kopp-6'7"
Race--6'8"
TJD---6'9"
Geronimo at 6'6"....Bates at 6'5". At times, IU can have a "big" back court....
Could go Stewart, Bates, Kopp....thats 6'5, 6'5 and 6'7---Possibly use Geronimo for Kopp(6'6").
Duncomb at 6'10 and Durr at 7'0"
Looking forward to Nov 9th. Unfortunately, I have a game.
