The only schools who can 'compete' with Michigan in the claim for 'best Big Ten the last two years' are Illinois, Iowa and OSU.

OSU was looking at a 5 seed in the 2020 NCAA and maybe they go to the S16. Michigan as a 6 seed maybe goes to the S16. Iowa as a 6 and Illinois as a 7 had no shot at S16 based on the lack of coaching ability in the tournament. Meanwhile MSU and Maryland were good in 2020 but average in 2021.

Rankings over the last two years...

Michigan
Ohio State
Illinois
Iowa
MSU/Maryland
Wisconsin
Rutgers/Purdue
OSU, Illinois, and Iowa ahead of MSU, Maryland, and Wisconsin yet the latter 3 have won the Big Ten in the past 2 years. I would say winning the conference and then having a mediocre year is better than having 2 good finishes, but to each their own.

Illinois has the best record in conference over the last 2 years.

Lol if you consider that just a “good” season because we didn’t win the conference.

But to each their own.

You guys have been very good. Didn’t mean to sound like a dick.

I personally would take a Big Ten championship and then a down year over finishing second twice. That’s just me.

That might be where you would take but that’s not necessarily the best indicator of better team over two years.

Would you want Wisconsin’s last 2 years over Illinois last 2 years because of their Big Ten championship?

Ok sure, I was looking at it more resume based than who is better. If we averaging both years, then yeah it’s clearly Illinois.

Illinois has been better and is set up better for the future, but Wisconsin has a better resume over that period, simply because Illinois hasn’t won the Big Ten or done anything in March. At least Wisconsin has a conference title.

You would've had to root for and watch all those games with Brad Davison. Just think about that for a minute.

Yeah, he hasn’t done enough to warrant best coach. Coach you’d want to start a program? Maybe.

He also called Michigan the best team in the Big Ten the past two years which isn’t true by any stretch of the imagination.

Who is the top team over the past two years using entire body of work?

Illinois was better that year too as we beat Wisconsin at their place.
They went 14-6 versus us at 13-7.

Schedules being uneven makes a one game difference for a Big Ten Title* meaningless.

2020 Kenpom:
Michigan - 16
Illinois - 30

2021 Kenpom:
Michigan - 3
Illinois - 4

And yes, we won have an elite 8 to go with that.
Michigan 2020

0-2 versus Illinois with a worse conference record and overall record.

Congrats on having a higher kenpom. Purdue fans will probably agree with you so their abysmal 2020 season can go overlooked.

Illinois finished 3 games ahead in 2020 and .5 games up in 2021 and beat Michigan 3x in that span. You had a 3 game win streak to finish last season, but that’s basically the only thing that’s better on the court.

My question was about entire body of work.

Dauster said the best team in the Big Ten. I’m disproving that notion. I appreciate KenPom, but it’s had issues with the Big Ten in recent years. Purdue in 2020 is a shining example. OSU was overrated the entire season as well. The 9th best team in conference shouldn’t be top 20 either.

Michigan had a better overall year than Illinois in 2020 and a better overall year than Illinois in 2021 yet when you combine the two Illinois fans take Illinois overall? I didn’t have to go to school for mechanical engineering to know they doesn’t add up.

You think Big Ten record is a better overall indicator of full season performance than including the non conference and tournament? I never want you to cry about my trolling again if you’re going that route.

They didn’t have a better 2020 and they had a better tournament than Illinois in 2021. That’s it. Illinois was 3rd one seed, not Michigan.

Not bad pieces to pair with Jett Howard and Taris Reed
No, not at all. As 3rd and 4th best players in a class they are fine.

I was more so making fun of the Rodgers with Jett notion. That was never going to happen.

And I’m honestly suprised Juwan took Dug over waiting it out for Trimble or Bradley. Especially considering you already have Collins, Zeb, and Bufkin on the roster.

I think it’s a better indicator to use apples to apples when comparing with teams are better in a conference.

What’s there to argue about? We both played similar competition, and we were better. We played each other head to head, and we were better. Why is that controversial?
