This seems to be the common belief but as someone who actually follows Osu I think it’s a ridiculous take. Where a team finishes in the B10 standings is rarely an accurate indicator because of uneven schedules, injures etc. Osu has been a 5 seed, 10 seed, 3/4 seed ( projected before Covid ) and a 2 seed last year. In the majority of game’s they’ve lost the last two seasons there has been injury issues. The 21/22 team will be better than this past years easily IMO. He was hired the same season as Underwood and has been to twice as many tournaments, has a team projected to be better this season and literally no reason to believe that will change.

I'd hope that anyone inheriting a program with Keita Bates-Diop, Kaleb Wesson, Andre Wesson, CJ Jackson, and Jae'Sean Tate would have more success than someone inheriting Trent Frazier, Leron Black, Mark Alstork, and Michael Finke. Underwood was rebuilding while Holtmann was maintaining. Big difference.

Underwood would have had a 5/6 seed and a 1 seed the past two seasons. That's pretty comparable to a 3/4 and a 2 seed. Like I said, he's right there with Holtmann, but Holtmann has finished below Underwood the past two years, and only finished 1 game up in their second year when Underwood completely blew up the roster and started over.

The spread on conf SOS's is so small that it is a decent indicator.

I could see Kofi serving a suspension, Hutcherson taking some time to get comfortable, Curbelo not shooting as well as we'd hoped, the defense taking a step back, Williams regressing to the mean. We're going to need a 3rd guy to step up and be a consistent threat for a 1/2 seed. I don't think anything is a given with this team.

However, I could see us being really good if Hutcherson plays like we've heard. I also think Grandison figured his role out at the end of the season last year, and it took the team to another level.

Nah, after seeing Ivey and Edey ball out at FIBA Michigan and Purdue are both top 5ish teams to me. We’ll go back and forth with each other in the rankings like Michigan and Illinois did last year.

We'll see. I think the potential is there but I want to see more consistency.
