Evidently so do most of the experts. Where do they have Illinois?
You guys are gonna be the March thru early-July offseason champs.

We will be ranked ahead of you preseason and will be better this season.

Third best in conference is your upside in your best season for the foreseeable future.

Painter should’ve left when he had the chance, no upside at Purdue.

It’s only a matter of time before Indiana starts taking it seriously and you hit the Wisconsin decline.
For a team that hasn't done anything in 16 years, you guys like to talk a lot of shit. Meanwhile, the teams that run this league will just sit here quietly while the puppies bite off more than they can chew.

Sometimes you have to bottom out. Allows an easier reset to get where you should be. Illinois fans know that.

You won’t ever bottom out with Gard. He’s like Bruce Weber, get ready for a solid 8 to 10 years of mediocre play. Easy to see where you are trending to.

I think he gets a lot of respect, but he hasn't put together a complete roster yet. That's limited him from taking the next step. He inherited a good roster and finished 3rd in conference, then finished 8th, 5th, and 5th. I think he likely finishes at best 4th or 5th again this season, so I think calling him the 5th best coach in conference is pretty fair.

This seems to be the common belief but as someone who actually follows Osu I think it’s a ridiculous take. Where a team finishes in the B10 standings is rarely an accurate indicator because of uneven schedules, injures etc. Osu has been a 5 seed, 10 seed, 3/4 seed ( projected before Covid ) and a 2 seed last year. In the majority of game’s they’ve lost the last two seasons there has been injury issues. The 21/22 team will be better than this past years easily IMO. He was hired the same season as Underwood and has been to twice as many tournaments, has a team projected to be better this season and literally no reason to believe that will change.

We've done more in our "decline" than you have in the last 16 years. Keep repeating the same tired shit we've heard for 20 years.

We’re better than you now and have been historically.

Keep holding onto arbitrary timeframes that fit your narrative. Doesn’t change the fact your are trending into mediocrity, while we will be at the top.

What has he done to deserve it? Gard has accomplished more than Holtmann.

I’ll ask you. What has he done to not deserve more recognition?

His first year Osu was considered an NIT team preseason and they were a 5 seed.

2nd year they were considered a stretch to be a CBI team in the preseason and they were a 10 seed

3rd year Osu was dominant and was #2 in the country before injuries slowed them down for about 4/5 weeks in January and February. Got healthy and were playing great before shutdown. They were a 3/4 seed according to most.

Last year they were a 2 seed despite more injuries.

He's looked impressive, then not so much. Good coach but not top of the top yet. Like others have said, there's plenty of competition in the B1G these days. I doubt anyone stays at the top for too long.

Pretty big brain shit by Archie and IU to just miss the tourney altogether. We don’t have to deal with this nasty tourney shaming.

Illinois’ floor is a 2 seed next year, barring injury to Kofi or Curbelo.

Wisconsin will be lucky to make the tourney.
Keep the delusion high. It's better that way. Makes the explanation post season more fun and enjoyable for the rest of us.

I will be waiting, remember when I was an idiot for telling you all Kofi was coming back to college?

I can dig through the posts if you’d like?
