I’m impressed by his ability to get to the rim. Despite his shot being broke this weekend he still scored 17ppg. Sneaky good athleticism.
Also very active defensively, plays passing lanes well which allows him to get steals and push in transition.

Chucky Hepburn will get the PT to have a shot at this for Wisconsin. I usually like to have UW stay under the radar on these types of things, but I am pretty stoked to see what Chucky can do this season.

I think the biggest thing for this is PT so you might be right on. It’s why I didn’t put Frankie Collins on mine, I just don’t think he’s going to get enough minutes over some freshman who are ranked worse because his team is so good.
I’ve heard you guys are pretty excited about him. I’ll add him to the list.
He's physically, mentally and emotionally mature for a frosh. I think he's a high floor/medium ceiling guy.
Could be...but I was really impressed with Houstan watching the FIBA tourney. That's my prediction at this time.
I think it’s between him, Houstan, and McGowens. He might be the sweet spot of good enough team and big enough role. Houstan is the best, but he might be statistically limited because of the strength of UM. McGowens probably puts up the best stats but Nebraska won’t be very good. Christie very well could be the leading scorer for us, but to be honest I really have no clue who it’ll be.
Or I could just be way off. Christie could be the second coming of Rocket Watts and Payton Sandfort from Iowa wins it. It’s all just speculation.
Furst will prob be right there IMO … especially considering he’s going to be out starting 4.
If you have the athletes you’d be dumb not to employ that type of strategy, depth also helps as well in that regard.
I guess I was way off on your lineup. I thought Gillis and Kaufman were both above him on the depth chart.
That was prevailing sentiment last year around this time. But he had a great senior season & Kaufman got a little banged up and he’s been recovering from a couple different injuries. Gillis will be suspended for the DUI a couple weeks ago. Prob first five games.
Furst’s game is really mature for a freshman. Just steady, savvy, smart player. Plays his ass off. He takes the 4 spot from Gillis IMO.
If he is your guys starting 4 I’d definitely put him in consideration, but I’m not sure who I’d take off to put him on. I definitely wouldn’t take Houstan, Christie, or McGowens off for him. Do you think he would make it over Bates or Diabete?
I’m not guaranteeing anything. I don’t think he’ll be top 5 just because he’ll have so much production around him. There are a ton of good freshman coming. But I think he really fills that scoring punch from the 4 spot. Definitely more versatile than Gillis.

I agree Lander , after the reclass, should not have been a 5*. But saying not Top 150 is fukin stupid, bro. You are getting all excited over a kid, who should have been a senior in HS, trying to adapt to major CBB, in a fukin pandemic. Also, yes 5* kids are expected to make an immediate impact...But there are tons of instances where they have not. BUt of course as a Purdue guy, you are gonna zone in on the ONE 5* at IU, that did not have an immediate impact.
Like I said---I have a good feel this gonna be a very fun conversation to revisit. Lander has the tools. Just lost the confidence in those tools with lack of PT. It happens. He has a full year now, under his belt. Got a feeling we gonna see a different player.

UM being somewhat thin down low helps his minutes IMO. He’s the one I was the least sold on putting first team, but his talent is there.
You’re probably right though. A worse recruit who gets more minutes on a different team will probably have better stats.

Before Osu added Russell I would have thought Branham would have a great shot. Even with the addition Branham will be a factor for Osu this year IMO. There is a summer league in Columbus that has been going on for years with current Osu, players incoming freshman and former and current pros from the area ( Sullinger, Burke, etc ) The top 3 scoring games by incoming frosh ever was Redd with 33, Liddell with 27 and Sullinger with 26. Branham scored 40 in his first game today. He’s physically ready to play and hopefully will get there soon.

OSU feels under talked about on this board in general, Branham was a great recruit for you guys and I’m excited to see him play. With an improved outside shot he’s a 5 star and I’ve heard he’s only getting better and better from outside.
