Coming from an Illinois fan absolutely 0% Garcia and Kofi play at Illinois next year.

I still expect the Illini to be ranked, they will be good but offense will go from Ayo’s midrange/ Kofi dunks to a lot more threes. Will win some games should lose and lose some that should win. What will be interesting is the defense post-Kofi.

And in one fell swoop RichieRebel became the best Illinois poster on this forum

How are you expecting the transfer PG? A little below Smith? Edit follow up question- some people mock JH’s in game coaching—what does the wolverines honestly think of it?

I think he’ll be similar to Smith. They actually guarded each other at the Elite Camp and look pretty even.

I think his coaching is fine. We lost Livers for the tournament and still won three games.

You were telling me last night that composite rankings are the only ones that matter when I said you had 3 five stars last year. Well Harris is ranked 109th in the composite rankings. Goode is ranked above “Podz”.
ESPN hasn’t ranked him. He’s a top 100 guy on 247 and Rivals. He’ll be a quality guy more than likely. Worst case a decent piece that will be a good defender in three years.

If making the elite 8 was so easy then Iowa’s last one wouldn’t be 1987.
Iowa’s last conference title was 1979. - doesn’t advance your argument if you’re pushing elite 8 is harder. I’d say give them equal weighting. There is a higher luck factor in advancing in the tournament as compared to winning a conference title.

I didn’t say it was harder. They are even to me, too. I even provided Dukedevilz scoring system to show he had them even. I’m responding to a guy acting like making an Elite 8 isn’t a big deal.

Might just be me personally but I couldn’t care less about the big ten tournament. I’d have making the tournament as a play-in game right with conference tournament champion (& only then because you would then be guaranteed to make the tournament)

It means very little. Below sweet 16 for sure. Probably should’ve had it in the round of 32 tier.

Unfortunately, I agree however someone forgot to tell our team. That was the ‘Super Bowl’ for the Illini after regular season debacle (can Kevin Warren just resign already). Don’t get me started on the Kobe pose.

The problem with the BTT was everyone was so good this year. Good thing Iowa, Minnesota, Rutgers, and Wisconsin will take big jumps back. And no the Illini will not be with that group.

MSU lost earlier but at least we took UCLA to overtime. We played them closer than a 1 seed UM lol.

When the conference schedules became way more unbalanced the tournament became more popular for me personally. Think the regular season B10 champion is part good team and part favorable schedule in most years. Having said that it still probably makes more sense to have the regular season champion get an auto bid.

With all the talent that is leaving the conference Ivey is a very good bet to make first team. He already had a good chance but it’s even more likely now.
Close to a lock as they come, especially with Washington and Wieskamp declaring.

Only way Ivey misses it, is if the All-Big Ten has 5 frontcourt players.

This Mali squad isn’t the best, but one thing they have going for them is that they are highly athletic.

edit: And once again, Chet needs to be much more aggressive. For how talented and sklled he is, dude is way too passive right now.

Last year they had 4. I think we could realistically see 3-4 again. Liddell, TJD, Dickinson, and Trevion probably get 3 spots minimum barring injury.

But yes the final spot or two was going to be a battle that would’ve gotten interesting when you through Kofi, Washington, Wieskamp and Ivey in the mix along with a bunch of newcomers we don’t know about yet.

Totally agree.
I’d lean towards Dickinson, TJD, Liddell of the post players.

Trevion is going to be in a crowded frontcourt with Edey, Kaufmann, and Furst. He’ll still be effective, but his individual numbers won’t be impressive as the other guys.

Really just depends if All-Big Ten goes 4 post players or 3.

Depends on the run. Do you think anybody outside of Houston fans are going to remember them beating Cleveland State, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Oregon State before getting trounced by the first good team they played by 20?

Not diminishing their accomplishment because they won against the teams that made it to them. But in terms of national relevance, not many fans will remember that team even into next years season.

I promise you I’ll remember. Should have been us. We were better than UH.

I was pulling for you that whole game. Had you as an upset in my bracket to the Elite 8.

After Illinois being upset, winner of Rutgers/Houston was looking like the favorite in that region.

Those last couple minutes were brutal.

I think we have a legitimate shot at getting both of those guys. Which is pretty impressive considering Kofi was supposedly 100% not returning to college...according to some people.

I’d say if you take a Final Four team to OT, when the 1 seed in your region didn’t even do that, you probably didn’t deserve the first four game.

Next time earn a higher seed and maybe you could enjoy a few wins in the tournament.
