Focus should be on locking up Hall. This class is just fine if we get him and add another combo/wing.
It is interesting as, strangely enough, Purdue and IU really haven't had many intense head to head battles for recruits. In most cases where both have offered a kid, one of the two have moved on to other prospects by the time it came time for the commitment (for a variety or reasons).
It’s something we should get used to. IU and Purdue won’t battle for every kid but it’s going to happen more frequently now with Archie instead of Crean
Yep agree, as Archie is clearly focusing on the Midwest more than Crean did.
I hope he continues to focus on the Midwest and doesn't branch out as much as Crean did after a couple years.
Absolutely. And I think some Purdue fans underestimate the impact of these recruits growing up in IU fan families and in IU towns with people in their ear every day talking up IU and talking down Purdue. It's a hurdle that can be overcome but a hurdle nonetheless.
IMO, there are three times as many IU fans in Indy (franklin) and probably 10 times as many in Center Grove (TJD). Part of the reason is because demographics show Purdue alums are more likely to move out of state and part is because people either were already on or jumped on the bandwagon when Knight was winning titles and never jumped off.
I think that plays a very small part, but not huge. Painter has been at Purdue long enough to fight through that. If Franklin chooses IU it isn't because he doesn't want to disappoint Indiana fans in my opinion. Just look at the amount of in-state kids that have gone elsewhere. I do think Archie is a much more laid back "cool" kind of guy kids can relate to, and that helps more than anything.
As with all things, there is rarely one determining factor.

You can find embarrassing photos of any person at any time. Not sure what that has to do with anything. Some Purdue fans like to make excuses because their coach can't close on recruits. Franklin hasn't even committed anywhere yet.

I'm sure Franklin is a good pick up, too.. I just haven't read up on him.
Both seem like great gets, even if they don't really show out year 1.

yeah, I'm with the Boiler on this one. Neither one of those guys is anywhere near cool. Archie learned his recruiting from his fat ass brother in Tucson. I'm not hating either because every program that's landing elite kids does it these days

Why is Nuebert all salty over this Franklin recruitment? Kid hasn't even committed and Brian is already throwing his sour grapes around. Wouldn't it be easier and possibly more accurate for Brian just to say Archie beat Painter (IF that even happens)? Why the nonsense?

I figure his IU official will be canceled, but we have been told he is nowhere near a decision. Will be interesting to see what changes with Franklin off the board. Still have to think Purdue is the favorite now, but with Ohio State and Xavier officials still to go you never know.

So far Archie is doing this to Painter in terms of in-state recruiting. (Yes I know Purdue beat IU last year)
That would be an excellent class for you guys. Hall is a stud.
