In-state four star guard isn't a slouch. Others are better for sure. IU needs guards bad and IU isn't going to stop going after Ramsey because of Franklin.
Well, for one, IU needs guards. Two, he's a 4* , in-statr kid. If he were from Illinois, I'd tend to agree. And look, this could be Miller "playing nice". He said he wanted to recruit "inside/out". Well he's doing exactly that. "Recruiting" Franklin/Neeman,but pursuing Rhamsey. I could be wrong. But nonetheless, the kid isn't irrelevant. He's a solid, in-statr recruit.

Would suck to lose him but if we end up with Newman because of it I’d be okay with it.

I believe we have said this many times, but if Painter can't fight back against that, then that is on him.
Make sure to tell Brian that Rob Phinisee was okay with Darius Garland recruitment. That guy had some sour grapes as well it seems.

Yeah man. I think IU fans have been quite clear we thought Purdue was the leader, until today when Snow/Rabjohns mentioned otherwise. We've also said we'd take either. Lol.
No need to cry about it. Not gonna be the last, either, as it happens more often than not in recruiting.
What's the saying? "If you're hearing 'yes' more often than you're hearing 'no' in recruiting, you're going after the wrong guys." Something like that...
On which site? On here he's listed as a 3 star ranked at 140. People keep saying "in-state" like that's a reason to take a kid we wouldn't normally take. My opinion is that IU should look to do better and it isn't worth spending five pages arguing about where he's going to commit.
He is a composite 4* I agree about in-state isn’t the in all be all but when your guard options are dwindling and Ramsey is no where near a lock you absolutely take this kid. Bouknight is staying east Harris hasn’t scheduled a visit. It is what it is.
IU will look to do better. They are not going to stop recruiting Ramsey.
No one is arguing about where he is going. Crazy to see people discussing on a discussion board I know.
Case in point, the problem is we only have a few scholarships to give out this year. I don't want IU to get commits from 2 guards outside of the top 100 just because they're from Indiana and either not have room for Ramsey or push him to commit elsewhere. We are already holding spots for Davis and Brooks so we really only have two more spots.
IU has three with Romeo leaving. Archie isn’t going to be caught with his pants down with zero guards or have to reach. Like last fall you take the sure guard (Phinisee) and then continue to recruit like with Garland. Ramsey is likely a spring signee so there will be room if someone transfers, which seems likely in 2018 college basketball and 37 forwards already on the roster
Everything I've heard has IU in as a good a spot for Ramsey as anyone. He's coming to Hoosier hysteria and his crystal ball picks lately have favored IU. I just wouldn't take more than 1 of these kids at most right now with Davis, Brooks, Watford, Stewart, and Ramsey still set to decide. People get impatient but none of the guys we are after have even commited anywhere at this point. If we miss on some guys then there will be plenty of time to land 3* guards later on.
IU won’t be taking anymore. If IU gets Franklin they won’t be taking Newman. There are spots for TJD and Brooks and a potential spring opening.
The fans getting impatient do not matter. Archie has a plan and has Franklin being a part of it. I bet he also has a plan for Ramsey as well.
Franklin isn’t some massive reach like Grant Gelon. He is a high major guard. He is not an instant impact player but you want four year high major players on your roster

Agreed. F Indiana and Purdue. Minnesota is going to finish higher than both this season.
