*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Purdue and others are recruiting Drew Timme, correct? Seems like a PF that can shoot fairly well from 3.

MSU getting some crystal balls from Jerry Meyer and Brian Snow yesterday / today.

I did some reading on him yesterday. Seems like a solid player who I will hate to see my team go against in the future.

Not sure how viable Purdue will be long-term as he's blown up this spring. But would love to have him - high energy big guy who can both bang inside and step out on the perimeter.

He and his dad did make an unofficial earlier in the year, though, so who knows. But certainly appears to be a guy who would succeed in most any system.

He's Duke's to lose if they offer IMO.

It sucks that Oturu has missed out on a few months in the weight room, but this is really good news. We are going to need him ready to play day 1.

Well the good thing if that happened, it probably means Duke cannot also take both Vernon Carey and Isaiah Stewart.

Or at least I'd hope that they don't take all 3.
I hope they don't. Sounds like Illinois is trying to get Timme to OV with Liddell in September.

And the breakup will be nasty!

Side note...Treed, MJ18, Methboy and proudopete going hard on the fanboy posts on GBI. It’s literally classic. If anyone is interested in pure idiocy and entertainment, check it out!

Couple classic lines I’ve read, Eastern is the best defender in the B10 if not the country. Purdue has three NBA players on the roster. Romeo Langford shouldn’t be considered in the eight best players between the two rosters. I mean, literally can’t make this stupid shit up.
Of course you can make this stuff up! It in your DNA.

You are quoting a troll bait post that was intended to sucker IU trolls. Nobody really believes all that stuff.

Anyone else release their non-conference?

Illinois' is pretty tough.

IU's should be released soon and it will be pretty tough as well.

Marquette, @Arkansas @Duke, Butler (neutral), Louisville also have UT Arlington and UC Davis on the schedule not your normal cupcakes. Archie is getting away from the Crean style of scheduling.

Wait a minute, why are you treating that thread like their arguing that Allen is better then Urban?

Personally, I think JB will be the next young superstar of a coach and be gone within 2 years. But, it's not like he has this amazing track record. Isn't this just the start of his 5th season as a college head coach? And most of those years were at BG in a small conference.

The truth is, neither have much data on them to base an answer on.

The fact Purdue fans run to an IU board to gloat about their campus, solid football tradition (Career 52% winning percentage), bragging about having a huge lead in the series with IU, and bragging about a top 20 recruiting class in August says everything you need to know about Purdue Football.

Bragging about having a winning record against IU in football is like an Iowa basketball fan bragging about having a winning record against Northwestern. IU historically sucks at Football like Northwestern historically sucks at basketball.

I love Jeff Brohm for the record. I also think IU will win the bucket back this year after that it might be Brohm's until he decides to leave. He will leave by the way. If he gets Purdue to 8-9-10 wins over the next 5 years he isn't a lifer in West Lafayette. If Purdue is able to get 5 years and a new culture out of him its a win-win for both parties.

We will see what happens with Allen. Recruiting has been solid, the guy had zero college head coaching experience, but does have a passion for IU football. The program has had some money dumped into. They are still behind, since the administration still does not take football all that seriously, but they are working on it.

How long are you going to keep saying that about the 2019 class? As each month passes you say the same thing. A top 20 class right now is impressive. Brohm's in on several more highly ranked guys too so I wouldn't be surprised to see it stay in top 25.

Until they are signed. A lot of schools just below them are still going to be filling up their class. Purdue is looking pretty full unless Brohm kicks the 2 stars to the curb and signs better recruits. (I have zero problem with this by the way, but Purdue fans are surely above this)

IU is right around the same average star per player but only with 13 recruits on the board. Who the hell knows what will happen in the next four months.

So are you saying Allen is as good as Brohm?

That's what you got out of me saying after this year the bucket will be Brohm's until he decides to leave? Zero doubt in my mind Jeff is a better coach.

I think Allen is much better than people give him credit for and I also think IU's program is in a much better spot since Mallory days. Now if this season isn't a bowl type season then its probably a lost cause. I think this year's team gets there though.

Its not dreadful like Maryland or Rutgers, by any means.

I'm not flaming, but outside of the Maui Invitational and Gonzaga.... are any of those other 9 teams tournament contenders?

UNLV likely not, Mizzou likely not, Georgetown likely not, Miss Valley State likely not, Notre Dame likely not...

So fan bases can't get excited about potentially solid classes until they are all signed?

Sure do what you want, but when you are all loud and proud about "Top 20" when you have 7 or 8 more recruits than most other teams its a bit much.
maybe you should stop visiting our boards every day. sounds like a personal problem on your end.

While I do agree that it helps having more commitments than other teams, it matters that the most recent pickups are 2 of the more highly-rated guys in the class (one a 4* 5.8 RR and one a 3* 5.7 ranking). The other guys that Purdue is in play for are all 5.6 RR quality or higher so landing any of those guys will only improve the class as those commitments will cancel out the 2* commitments since rivals only counts your best 20 commitments.

If Purdue had a top 20 class consisting of mainly 2* and 3* guys but had twice as many commitments as other teams, I’d agree. But Purdue already has 4 4* guys with the chance to add several more.

Or, you can go tell the Purdue posters that flock to IU boards to brag about the football team/program to stop. Seems like you are trying to take on the role of board monitor. Not a great look for you...
