*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

You're universally known on rivals as one of if not the worst posters in existence.

Maybe he did create shots that his garbage team couldn't hit. Assists are harder to get when you play on a bad team.

Okay. Maybe Boudreaux leads the Big Ten in assists. There is nothing showing that he isn't the best passer in the conference because maybe his teammates cost him 12 assists per game.

Is hyperbole naturally part of your personality or just part of your poor attempt at trolling?

We will know more in a year. What we do know is the kid can score and rebound.

How?

How do we know that he wasn't just scoring because defenses he played sucked?

How do we know that his rebound numbers aren't inflated because his teammates and opponents couldn't rebound?

Matt Painter says hold my beer
Actually ran numbers a couple of years ago showing that it won't be out of the question for Painter to catch Bob Knight as the Big Ten's winningest coach (if Izzo doesn't catch him first) for conference games.

Updating, Painter is at 142 Big Ten wins in 13 seasons (10.9 per season). If you ignore his first year when he was rebuilding the roster, he's averaged 11.6 wins in Big Ten play.

He is 211 behind Knight. With the move to a 20 game regular season and Painter being only 47, he would likely catch him if he coaches until he's 65 or 66.

Izzo is 81 games back and is 63.

And yes, the regular season win title is more a matter of longevity and wouldn't mean Painter is a better coach than Knight (or Izzo).

Yes.

And it helps that postseason success doesn't matter for keeping him around. I can't see other top conference programs keeping a coach around for 13 seasons without making it out of the Sweet 16 even with some conference championships sprinkled it. Painter's seat is pretty cushioned.

Just want to talk about the below. Particularly the sentences in bold. It is certainly not outside the realm of possibility, but the "game-changing caliber" offer hasn't come yet because IU is that strong. North Carolina was so interested in TJD that they called, got feedback IU was so strong that Roy Williams never watched him once during the second and third July evaluation periods. Izzo hasn't let up much and Alford has hung around, but TJD played like a top 15 player all spring/summer and the offers never came.

I admittedly read way too much about recruiting and read multiple sites and multiples writers, but the bold is just lack of a better term Fake News.

Recruiting Status:
Jackson-Davis has plotted official visits to Indiana, Michigan State and UCLA. Purdue's accrued some loyalty from him and his family since it offered him before anyone else, so it should remain a consideration for the duration, but IU is generally believed to be in particularly strong shape with him and it's not outside the realm of possibility a game-changing caliber of offer or two could come this summer.

Watch out for North Carolina, which seemed very interested during July.

Side note...Treed, MJ18, Methboy and proudopete going hard on the fanboy posts on GBI. It’s literally classic. If anyone is interested in pure idiocy and entertainment, check it out!

Couple classic lines I’ve read, Eastern is the best defender in the B10 if not the country. Purdue has three NBA players on the roster. Romeo Langford shouldn’t be considered in the eight best players between the two rosters. I mean, literally can’t make this stupid shit up.

Treed is outspoken, and I can certainly understanding her giving props to her son. But then she goes off on these tangents about how hard Nojel and his teammates are working and improving, and it's like she is seeing PU in a vacuum. Never mind the fact hat virtually every team in the country is working hard and concentrating on making themselves better.

It's like there is no perspective for the reality that there are undoubtedly teams in the B1G.working just as hard (or harder) and some of them bring much more talent to the table.I mean we can start with the teams that have been to a FF4 in this Century, much less within the last 20 yrs of the previous one...;)

Yeah, the first time I saw that one of their people over there was a players parent, I immediately thought...oh shit this isn't going to end well. But then after I thought about it, I figured it would end up being really cool thing for them. It's always seemed that Purdue fans were usually pretty considerate to each other for the most part. However, then I read some of her posts and wtf...

Purdue fans who go to that forum are really in a lose lose situation. We all get embarrassed when one of our own fans go off on ridiculous tangents, and its usually somewhat enjoyable to be able to call them out. But, you cant call out a mom....no matter what she says or does. For the most part, you're probably going to look like an ass if you do call her out. So what do you do??? Its a lose lose situation, but from what I've seen so far, it seems like you all are handling it about as good as possible imo.

I'm seriously not trying to have an argument here, but what was hyperbolic about his comment? He was laughing at the posts made over there by Purdue fans. I seriously don't understand why that's such a big deal that he did it? If you find a IU fan starting a ridiculous thread and then multiple people jump in with the cheerleading....please bring it over here and make fun of it. Hell, I'll probably laugh with you based off some of the stupid fanboy posts I've seen on the IU boards.
I was talking about this:

That doesn't matter, it will only take Painter a few months to turn him into the next Dirk Nowitzki. After he leads Painter to his first national title he will then spend the Summer teaching blind kids to see and feeding the homeless.

My apologies, I thought you were talking about another post.
