*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Where are all your predictions that you were so right about? I do remember you predicting IU would be a bubble team but you thought they’d be on the right side of the bubble.

Turns out their bubble popped before the big ten season. Whoooooooooops. You therefore have no credibility in preseason projections by the laws of SNU.
That’s exactly what I said. I was wrong about that. I said 6-9 in the B10 and I thought we’d be a bubble team and fall on the right side of the bubble. Missed that part.

The Arizona team that was playing in the Bahamas was hot garbage.
Don’t forget that we lost a Purdue poster here because he was confident that Arizona team was a Final Four team. Purdue fans were so desperate for anything positive to point to in the Bahamas. Lol.

Jesus. Yes, Haarms is a good defender. He’s not the next f’ing Anthony Davis. This is why I laugh at Purdue fans. If you don’t suggest their players are the best thing EVER they get sensitive.

Again, the ability to space the floor and knock down the outside shot, which was one of our biggest weaknesses, is WAY more important than any INCREMENTA defensive improvement we would get from Haarms. If you go look, we did just fine on defense in the B10 last year without Davis or any real big man. So yes, Fitzner would start over Haarms based on what I’ve seen and heard so far this offseason.

Yeah because I said he was the next Anthony Davis. I said I think he’d start over Fitzner. That’s it. Stop turning it into more than that.

So was that Purdue team though coming off a WKU loss. You guys can nitpick it all you want but at the end of the season it didn’t have an asterisks by that quad 1 win.

There are no asterisks next to your tournament history stating you had an injury. Fact is, you didn’t make it as far as some thought.

i know you guys love it, but it's crazy that 3 of MP's top 4 teams have had a major injury (granted, the 2nd Hummel one was at the start of the season, so that team had more time to adjust, but still)

OTOH, his NCAAT track record is quite bad IMO, even taking the injuries into account. he has some work to do to get to Keady's level, and that's not a good thing, haha.

i'm hoping he can channel his inner beilein or ryan and shake the NCAAT woes eventually, but who knows. he's still mid 40s, so it's certainly possible (or if not you guys will have more ammo on here in 10+ years...facepalm!)

Arizona had 3 wins over ranked teams all season. One was when State was free falling and then got smoked by 21 points to a 13 seed in the tournament. Arizona was never a good team.

You say that because of defense only. You conveniently ignore my points about what our weakness was last year and that we were actually solid defensively in the B10 WITHOUT a true big man. So, being that said, I dont think Haarms would start. I haven’t seen him be able to knock down the outside shot consistently. That’s what we need. It’s MORE important than anything additional he’s add on defense. So again, he wouldn’t start over Fitzner.

I don’t think anyone likes the fact a player like Hummel got hurt let alone love it. Quality person there and just terrible luck.

The sexual predator that’s another story.

They ended at 28 on Kenpom with a top 15 offense but garbage defense. They didn’t live up to expectations but they were still a good win to have.

But the disease remains, forever. What Haas did is unforgivable, and PU hid it till the week after they lost in the tourney.

Yep it was a big conspiracy by Purdue to wait to mention it. GTFO with that garbage if you think the university intentionally waited to announce it until after the tournament.

Why would anyone take a bet with you when it’s clear that you don’t follow through when you’ve lost in the past? Not to mention, you only post here for a short period, get embarrassed and then leave. You’re not a regular, so the bet is dumb to start.

As for the terms of the bet, I think IU and PU will be similar this year. I personally think IU will be better, but we have just as many question marks as Purdue does.
What bet are you talking about that I didn’t follow through with? I have only made one bet her and that was with hail. We had agree to meet at the Bigten tourney that year to pay and he failed to show. I like to face to face with people who act like bullies online, and I was pretty confident that he wouldn’t show. I sat patiently at Scotty’s Brewhouse in downtown Indy, yet Hail never arrived to collect. I still paid the $25 in his name to the charity he chose afterwards, so I have no clue what bet you think I didn’t follow through with.
I understand your reluctance to get banned from here. I doubt you would have any human contact without this board,
I don’t get embarrassed and run away. I don’t care if I thought IU would miss the tourney and they made it. I was wrong, so what? Life goes on and although IU won the league and made the tourney, it was still a forgettable year for IU.
I knew you wouldn’t man up, btw. You’re all talk in here and I highly doubt you are even able to stand up to anyone in real life and you choose to hide behind your computer instead. That fine with me, hide all you like.
Enjoy your season and maybe try to go out more, maybe talk to people face to face.

@hailtoyourvictor - What say you on the bet?

I am not even sure Robbie Hummel helps in that VCU game. VCU shocked Painter.

He is a great commentator as well.

yeah, he's great in the booth.

VCU was insane that year, i'm still a bit surprised Shaka hasn't shown much since

Hummel would have definitely helped, especially if his Sr year had resulted in a top 2 seed and not playing that VCU team, haha

So Purdue lost more, at least we agree on that. You forgot about Hunter, he's the freshman likely to get the most minutes after Langford. That already tells me you don't really know what you're talking about. I get you got defensive over hearing Purdue has more question marks but try to be objective. They lost more and brought in less, you can dispute rankings all you want but two of your freshmen are centers and likely won't play at all. Indiana has 3 guys who started most of last year, 2 guys who started several and logged 20+ minutes, this doesn't even include Davis. So now not only did IU lose less, they brought back more experience in their starting five, and more impact players as freshmen, why again does Purdue not have more question marks?
So you have some OK players who got experience and playing time playing on a bad team. Not sure that means as much as you think it does.

Pick the top 8 players (starters plus 3 subs) from Purdue and IU's roster.

Carsen
Romeo
Justin Smith
Morgan
Haarms

Fitzner
Evan B
Jerome Hunter

Good point on the bottom haha.

I say this to Purdue and IU fans on behalf of the other 10-12 schools represented in this thread:

We did not say that meeting face to face was a stipulation of the bet. We bet $20 on Indiana making the tournament. You added that comment that if you lost you would pay me in person. It wasn't part of the bet.

Proof that you paid to the charity of my choice?

@proudopete

If you can prove that you followed through with donating money to the charity of my choice, I'll make another $20 charity bet that Michigan finishes higher than Purdue.

Because 5 PPG in the West Coast Conference trumps 17 & 9 in the Ivy League. Duh.
There isn’t a chance in hell he should be the four instead of Morgan. So, comparing a four to a five is dumb. Real dumb.

I'd be surprised if you took this position on a non-Purdue player. I'm fairly certain you wouldn't. Haas deserves to be treated like the sexual predator he is.
Getting pretty loose with the term sexual predator. I don’t condone his actions. Simply stated that the suit was dropped.

I’m not saying he should be in there over Morgan, but he’s above Fitzner and Green and Hunter and Smith regardless of position.

If this happened at MSU or IU, we would have heard about this every day for a century.
