*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

You could easily replace Purdue with IU with those stats and come up with a very similar result. Fact of the matter is, Michigan has been the class of the conference since 2011.
Don't disagree with that. But I wasn't the one arguing/comparing results to UM like some Purdue fans were.

If a Purdue fan wants to say that the gap between Purdue and Michigan would be smaller if Hummel and Haas didn’t get hurt, fine. This idiot is saying Purdue has been more successful than Michigan, period, which is laughably false.

Speaking of injuries, Michigan lost Caris LeVert and Derrick Walton to season ending injuries the same year. The following year we lose LeVert to a season ending injury a second time. A couple years before that we lost Mitch McGary to a season ending injury. Funny that you don’t point out injuries both ways when talking about bad luck.
I never said UM didn't have bad luck regarding key injuries, dude. And there aren't many Purdue fans arguing that Purdue has been more successful in the post-season compared to UM, apart from maybe a troll here or there.

I usually don’t associate with people on this board, my showers aren’t strong enough, but just had to come give my official comment on this. It is as follows:

What former Big Ten player will have the best rookie year in the NBA?

I’ll go
1. Miles Bridges
2.Wagner
3. JJJ
4. KBD
5. Huerter

I think JJJ will have the best NBA career, but I’ll guess Wagner and Miles have better rookie years.

This is why you will never get halfway decent conversation in this thread. I’m out, will come back for a fun ownage or until I hear this thread is remotely decent.

More likely the first one, tbh.

This is the ownage he said he would be back for.

Nope, just Painter's great teams. Obviously if he did a better job recruiting, he would have more shots at great teams that actually have the potential to reach a FF.

Just always hear excuses. "Back then they only took 1 team per conference for the tournament". "The NIT was the premiere tournament". "We got put in the toughest regional". "Our best player got hurt, again, and again". "Our basketball players double as astronauts". "Our players can't breath on account of the stench coming from our campus". "They eat at XXX all the time". "There's nothing but farm animals for players to chase around". We've heard every one of these for years.

Nothing wrong about eating at XXX all the time. That Drew Brees is quality late night drunk food.

This is me.
And when I do hu the Slant (recruiting talk), I have to dm preston and he (basically) walks me through it. Most of the time that place is straight circlejerkingsunshinepumping stupidity.

I used to find it numbingly funny, now it's annoyingly hideous.

The Fort is like that too. I still post there daily, but if you dont think every recruit we land is the next great at their respective position, you get attacked. We landed Joey Valesquez (he was an OSU baseball commit lol) and his best football offer was Indiana and posters were in full attack mode for anybody not thinking he'd be a future NFL draft pick. Its ridiculous

Same on the MSU football board too.

Apparently Jordan Huff (football commit) is about to decommit and go to like Clemson or something, but we got a new commit (Tate Hallock) that plays his position as a replacement I guess. Now everybody is saying that this guy (Tate Hallock) is 100% better than Huff and it’s kind of ridiculous. We were this kids first high major offer and he jumped at it. Huff is getting recruited by some power houses and isn’t from the Midwest either. I was the first one to say, hey, I think Huff is probably better and got attacked for it.

@Toast. IU picked up a couple of CB picks for Newman, one being from Jerry Meyer. Not a huge CB guy, but did hear the visit went well, which they all do. Anderson committed to IU right after the first July evaluation period last year. Will be interesting to see if IU was able to pick up that traction from the visit. I certainly would expect a big IU presence at his games coming up. The hope is IU already knows where Carton is going by that time, even though IU will take Carton and Newman for sure.

gross. xxx is fine - solid burgers and the brees is good. but the nostalgia and such is much better than the food itself.

I am not a huge peanut butter on my burger type person, but had to try it once.

that'd be a kick in the nuts, much more so than anderson imo. i think he'd fit our personnel really well, plus doesn't he know that archie only likes forwards?

we'd been hearing that he'll probably decide by end of summer, so we should know relatively soon.

That would be nice, since he is probably going the prep school route for the winter. Get him locked up before more exposure.

He can’t talk ish about football rivalries so he inserts himself into IU -Purdue

Google Michigan football
Google Ohio State footbal
Find Michigan fan
Point and laugh
Why do you keep trying to shoe-horn Michigan into an IU/Purdue argument? Just because you have no rivalry in basketball doesn't mean you have to try hard and create one with Purdue. Leave us be.

Thankfully Michigan has had a good basketball program lately. Purdue has been horse shit in both sports. That must suck.

When Balas has that big news thread I and a couple others said we hope the big news wasnt Girard because we really wanted Carton. A bunch of posters got pissed off about us not giving Girard respect even though it has nothing to do with how much I like Girard.

I made a thread about something that is pretty obvious (Michael Fulmer is not an ace) and had the whole forum pissed off over that, too. Fulmer is a good pitcher but he isn’t a guy that you want at the top of your rotation of a playoff team. So many posters want him to be the next Verlander or Scherzer that they get mad when objectivity creeps into the convo.

That being said, The Fort is still awesome. Such good info and a lot of awesome posters.
