*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

@otte21 im just not sure why you would go through the effort of quoting all of that when the difference in statements is pretty blatant in those quotes.

If Wagner returned I thought a bench with Teske, Johns, and Livers or Brazdeikas could beat some starting lineups.

I don’t think a benche with replacing Teske (who is good) with Austin Davis (who is bad) would best “a lot” of starting lineups.
It was a stupid statement even if Wagner returned, I was showing you how cocky you were getting. I know Wagner got drafted I watched the damn draft and I’m on this board/Twitter pretty much every day.

Would you rather Purdue win the conference tournament, make the Final 4 and play for a National Championship or would you rather them lose in the Sweet 16 as long as they sweep Michigan?
Obviously everyone would take the runner up, hands down, every time. The problem is that you're talking shit about a team that had their most impactful player go down in the first round, and was seeded in the region with the best team in the country. Haas's injury coupled with Hummel's injuries sure seem like shitty luck; those we're his two best teams heading into the post season.

And to think all these pages of shit-posting between IU/Purdue fans (and now you) started because one idiot compared Tom f@cking Allen's coaching career to Matt Painter's.

I disagree. Teske/Livers/Brazdeikas are all good and will all start for Michigan this year at some point (top 3 conference team). Two of them would be on the bench unit if Wagner returned. I don’t think all 14 starting 5s are better than a bench unit with Teske/Livers/Johns or Teske/Brazdeikas/Johns.

Regardless of if you think that’s stupid, there is still no need to lie and say that I said they would beat “a lot” of teams even after losing Wagner unless you’re just trolling (which maybe you are).

If a Purdue fan wants to say that the gap between Purdue and Michigan would be smaller if Hummel and Haas didn’t get hurt, fine. This idiot is saying Purdue has been more successful than Michigan, period, which is laughably false.

Speaking of injuries, Michigan lost Caris LeVert and Derrick Walton to season ending injuries the same year. The following year we lose LeVert to a season ending injury a second time. A couple years before that we lost Mitch McGary to a season ending injury. Funny that you don’t point out injuries both ways when talking about bad luck.

Why do you keep trying to shoe-horn Michigan into an IU/Purdue argument? Just because you have no rivalry in basketball doesn't mean you have to try hard and create one with Purdue. Leave us be.

Purdue basketball, a lifetime of bad luck.

Because Purdue fans are pretending Purdue is better than they have been. I’m doing the lords work.

@B-Westy if Borden was in here spouting his Indiana will win the conference crap I’d be telling him Indiana sucks, too. I can’t help that it’s some Purdue fans that are going full on Gil.

Brah, what Purdue fan has proclaimed Purdue would win the conference this year? This was strictly a Purdue vs. IU pissing match and you had to shit all over it by randomly trying to pit Michigan vs. Purdue. Just enjoy your final four. Leave the irrelevant programs be.

Give JohnHoosier time. It’s coming.

Something we can agree on.

26+ win seasons by Matt Painter in past 3 years: 3
26+ win seasons by IU in past 25 years: 3

Sweet 16 appearances by Matt Painter in past 10 years: 4
Sweet 16 appearances by IU in past 25 years: 5

Missed NCAA tournaments by Purdue under Painter: 3
Missed NCAA tournaments by Indiana in past 5 years: 3
I usually don’t associate with people on this board, my showers aren’t strong enough, but just had to come give my official comment on this. It is as follows:

LOL

Leave you be? I’ve never seen a fan base so obsessed with a non rival as Purdue fans are with MSU. Its weird AF. Now, you have some Purdue fans downplaying UM. Lulz. Think about that. UM has had more success in the last 10 years than Purdue could dream of. You Purdue fans are a weird bunch, man. Weird AF.

God damn it @boilerzz its already begun
As an unbiased person, can you see how unhinged this post is?

This is why you will never get halfway decent conversation in this thread. I’m out, will come back for a fun ownage or until I hear this thread is remotely decent.

More likely the first one, tbh.

I used to post in these threads in like 2011-2013 under a different name but gave it up when I got this one. It’s good to see SNU going strong, lol.

Not me man. Lol. You’re citing JohnHoosier’s opinion as a blanket statement for all Purdue fans. But that’s your schtick.

Michigan past 7 years:
2 NCAA Tournament runner-ups
2 Final Fours
3 Elite 8s
4 Sweet 16s
2 Big Ten Conference Championships
2 Big Ten Conference Tournament Championships

Purdue past 20 years:
0 NCAA tournament runner-ups
0 Final Fours
0 Elite 8s
4 Sweet 16s
2 Big Ten Conference Championships
1 Big Ten Conference Tournament Championship

Michigan more successful in 7 years than Purdue has been in AT LEAST 20 years.
Bump.

The Official Big Ten basketball threads have been the best threads on rivals over the past few years.

You've got some shit on your nose, wipe it off please.
I'm speaking facts. Wisconsin has been right there as well. I'd give my left hand for Purdue to have a fraction of the success Michigan and Wisconsin has had.

Circling back to the original point. IU fvcking sucks man.

Imagine how good they would be if we could get rid of a couple of Purdue posters, a couple of IU posters and that one Michigan poster.

Haven’t we come to conclusion that both IU and Purdue have been nothing but mediocre for the past 30 years?

I know you guys don’t like SNU but he has to stay because of how good he is at upsetting Dat. It’s kind of like spiders. Even if you hate spiders you’ve gotta be happy they eat up the other insects in your house.

I'm just giving you shit.

As for the last part...

I wouldn't say mediocre. If you're consistently a top 25 program in the country out of 351 schools, I don't consider that average.

Sure IU and Purdue haven't had the results they wanted in the NCAA tournament, but that doesn't make either program mediocre.

Oh yeah absolutely. But I'm not going to sit here and make myself miserable because of our lack NCAA tournament success. I enjoy the season and try to have fun with it. It is what it is. Lets hope Purdue breaks through at some point in my life. Sick
