***Official B1G Off-Season Thread***

Purdue has had alot more players than just Ethan Morton and Mason Gillis.

Why hasn’t anyone else but Ivey developed tools to crack a current NBA roster?
How many guys has Painter recruited rhat had the physical gifts/abilities that Ivey has? If you want to knock his recruiting you’ve got a point. Luckily he’s got two guys coming in over the next two years who have that NBA physical make-up in Colvin and Catchings.

Why didn’t Swanigan develop a good enough shot to stay on an NBA roster? He shot 2 for 17 from three in 4 seasons. Why didn’t he develop that shot better?
I think you have a pretty good idea what went down with Swanigan and contributed to him not sticking in the league.

Ivey is the only Purdue player who had potential to stick on an NBA roster?

No other Purdue players had any chance of developing tools to be NBA roster pieces?

I want Ivey to be a huge success in the NBA, then Purdue will be redeemed

I mean E’Twaun played for a long time. Hummel I think could’ve stayed around longer if not for the two ACL injuries. Hammons had the talent and expanded his game a lot he just didn’t really care about a lot of stuff including basketball. Carsen played a little in the league too.

I think Mathias is a really good example of someone who improved his game a lot at Purdue and got a cup of coffee in the NBA but has been solid in the g-league. Just doesn’t have the size or athleticism to be a regular in an NBA rotation unfortunately.

Anyone on Purdue you can think of who you thought could’ve been an NBA guy that wasn’t?

That’s the best you can come up with for Purdue guys developing skillsets to remain on NBA rosters?

Why didn’t Swanigan develop a better shot than a 2 for 17 three point shooter?

You’re kinda dumb aren’t you? Swanigan went from 30% from 3 as a freshman to 45% from 3 as a soph and then turned pro. He developed the three just fine.

Unfortunately he struggled without structure and ended up dying young. But keep denigrating the deceased.

You can't talk about dead people's poor shooting?

He shot 2 for 17 from three in his NBA career. Why didn’t he develop a shot good enough to shoot better in the NBA?

By the way…Swanigan shot threes in high school and in AAU. It’s not something that he never did and magically started developing. Edey and TJD, from an outside shot development is a better comparison. Neither have shot it from deep with any regularity. And Swanigan’s 2-17 in the league doesn’t seem like he developed anything just fine….

And we’re not the ones who brought up Swanigan. Take that up with your fellow homers. LOL! Dry your tears…

You have no answer?

Is 2 for 17 good? Why didn’t he develop a better nba 3pt shot?
Since when is 17 attempts a legit sample size? Even if he went 7 for 17 he wouldn’t have gotten a lot of playing time. Doesn’t change that his jumper was what propelled him into the first round. This all started as a discussion about getting drafted not what they did once they were in the league. Weird straw man argument bringing up Purdue’s lack of NBA players that had nothing to do with the original topic but I’m not surprised.

It’s been said why things didn’t work out for him. Portland probably wasn’t the best place for him to be tbh (for multiple reasons) and there was plenty of off-the-court stuff. When he opted out of the bubble it was very obvious that things were going on with him behind the scenes.

Lol. You’re crying about the same size now? I’d bet if he shot 10-17 or something like that it would have kept him playing more. He really should have worked to develop his shot more.

17 attempts over 3 seasons? I think most folks would call that a small sample size. He didn’t play because he wasn’t a good defender not because he shot 2 for 17 from 3. He was exposed a lot on defense.

Yeah maybe he was a below average defender, but if he shot the ball well enough it would have helped keep him on the court. He didn’t shoot it well at all and thus didn’t play. Should have worked on his shooting more…

Swanigan was never going to get significant minutes in the NBA.

Wasn’t a good enough rim protector to play the 5, and didn’t have the footspeed to guard the 4.

It was no surprise he was a bust without even mentioning his off the court problems

He made 2 three pointers in his… what…. 4 seasons in the NBA? Why didn’t he develop his shot to be better than that?

In 75 games and 655 minutes played he made 2 threes.

He was not useful as a shooter in the NBA. Maybe he would’ve been if he developed his shot some more.

It had something to do the mental health issues that led to his passing. I'll leave it at that as I'm more than a little disgusted that this is still a topic of conversation.
